Landslide after heavy rain leaves 8 dead in Parbat, Nepal

At least 8 people have died in a landslide in Parbat District, central Nepal.

The landslide struck on 13 June after a period of heavy rain. Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army have been conducting search and rescue operations, which recovered 3 bodies on 13 June and 5 more the next day. According to district police, the search continues for at least one missing person.

The landslide occurred after a period of heavy rain, destroying a road and two houses in a small community in Kushma Municipality.

Floods in Veracruz, Mexico after storm dumps nearly 9 inches of rain in 24 hours

At least 1 person has died after severe weather in Veracruz State, Mexico on 11 June.

Mexico's met agency Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN) reported 221.2 mm of rain in 24 hours in the city of Veracruz on 11 June. Flooding was reported in areas around the city, and in the north of the state, in particular the municipality of Papantla, where some areas were cut off.

According to local media reports, flood waters of up to 1 metre deep were reported in parts of Veracruz City, where houses were damaged and around 900 families were affected. One fatality was reported in Ignacio de la Llave municipality.

Disaster authorities in Indonesia report that flash floods hit five districts of Bone Bolango Regency in Gorontalo Province on 11 June.

Hours of heavy rainfall caused the Taludaa River to break its banks and triggered flooding in Sawawa, Sawawa Tengah, South Sawawa and Botu Pingge districts. Flood waters reached 1.5 metres in some areas.

According to Indonesia's National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), 3 people have been injured, 5,407 affected. Floods have damaged or destroyed 1,479 houses, with around 600 families displaced. Flooding also damaged or destroyed 3 bridges in the area.

Summer flood kills 1, causes heavy damage in Turkey's capital Ankara

More than 250 businesses and residences were flooded in a sudden downpour in Turkey's capital Ankara, causing devastating damage and heavy financial losses, authorities said Friday.

According to a statement by the Metropolitan Municipality of Ankara, more than 1,500 calls were made to emergency services to report floods across the capital, with some parts of the city seeing as much as 30 centimeters per square meter of rain.

After a reportedly calm morning, the Corsican capital of Ajaccio was throttled by 103mm (four inches) of rain in just two hours, triggering flash flooding across the city, wreaking havoc on residents and businesses alike.

Intense thunderstorms localized over Ajaccio at around 11:30am local time on Thursday. The flooding began with an initial shower which dropped 40mm (1.5 inches) of rain in half an hour.

The storm then gathered pace as it continued into the afternoon and, after drainage systems were overwhelmed, city workers scrambled to replace burst sewer drain covers.

As eyewitness footage from the scene shows, cars and dumpsters were tossed around like toys by the flood waters.

A storm followed by thunderstorms hit Belgrade on two occasions tonight. A large amount of rain fell and the streets of the capital ended up flooded

Citizens shared the footage on social networks in disbelief. As can be seen in the footage, the cars literally floated in some parts of Belgrade.

Due to the large amount of precipitation, tram and trolley-bus traffic are at a standstill, and movement by public transport is difficult because the buses are overloaded.

The Belgrade bus station is also under water, so the buses could not reach the platform, "Novosti" states.

Floods turn deadly in Accra, Ghana

Flooding in in the city of Accra, Ghana has left 1 dead and 2 missing.

Heavy rain began during the late hours of 08 June, with wide areas of the capital flooded soon after. The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), speaking to local TV news, said 1 person died in the Odawna area of the city. The search for two missing people continues. Military personnel and NADMO have rescued at least 20 people trapped in the flooding.

NADMO is carrying out damage assessments and relief operations in affected areas. Flooding damaged or destroyed buildings and possessions. Some people have evacuated their homes, in particular in areas around Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

Over 20 dead or missing, 2.63 million affected by floods in south China - 110 rivers exceed warning levels

More than 20 people were killed or remain missing after torrential downpours unleashed floods in south China.

The rain-triggered floods had affected some 2.63 million people in 11 provincial-level regions as of 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Ministry of Emergency Management said.

The heavy rain forced the relocation of about 228,000 people, destroyed over 1,300 houses and brought direct economic losses of over 4 billion yuan (about 566 million U.S. dollars), the ministry said.

In Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China, six people were killed and one is missing after days of downpours.

Over 1 million people have been affected by the floods, including 147,900 who were relocated to safe areas, the regional flood control and drought relief headquarters said Tuesday.
