A deep sea oarfish, which is said to predict natural disasters, has appeared washed up on a beach.

Children were astonished to discover the creature and held up the giant fish. It was then stretched out on the sand on a straight piece of tree bark while local people captured images of it on their phones.

A group of local people are said to have eaten the large fish during a beach feast after the sea creature washed up near Huế City in Vietnam. The creature, however, is often called the 'harbinger of natural disasters'

One local said: "One of the best-known legends is that the sighting of an oarfish portends natural disasters, particularly earthquakes and tsunamis." Daniel said: "There will be a cataclysm then." And Gustavo wrote: "An earthquake is coming!"

At least 20 pilot whales had been discovered stranded on a seashore in northeastern Brazil, prompting a particular rescue operation to be launched. The cetaceans, often known as "Globicephala melas," had been found close to Pititinga seashore within the state of Rio Grande do Norte. Disoriented and unable to return to the ocean, the whales had been carefully monitored by a group of biologists and veterinarians from the 'Cetáceos da Costa Branca' mission and the NGO Center for Environmental Studies and Monitoring.

One whale from the identical pod was discovered lifeless on Zumbi seashore, seven kilometers away. Locals and fishermen alerted authorities to the stranded animals, resulting in the deployment of the rescue operation. Biologist Vinícius Gabriel Santana defined that the whales had been unable to return to deeper waters and had been displaying indicators of spatial imaginative and prescient issues.

Officials are urging people to avoid a stretch of the north Oregon coast after a dead humpback whale washed ashore Monday morning.

The whale came ashore on the sands of Nehalem Bay State Park, just south of Manzanita, prompting warnings from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

All three agencies issued warnings Monday on posts to social media as well as signs on the beach. The area where the whale washed ashore is also a protected area for endangered snowy plovers, making it especially vulnerable to intrusions.

"We're asking people to please stay away from the carcass so it remains undisturbed," Michael Milstein, a spokesperson for NOAA Fisheries, said Monday. "We intend to do an initial exam today to see what we can learn about possible cause of death."

Hundreds of brown pelicans are starving to death in California - despite plenty to eat

Hundreds of starving birds are showing up on California beaches
Hundreds of starving birds are showing up on California beaches
For the second time in two years, large numbers of brown pelicans are showing up sick and injured along California's coastline, and scientists are racing to find out why.

As of this week, hundreds of these birds have died. Current evidence points to starvation as the cause, despite there being plenty of food (typically surface dwelling fish like herring or anchovies) for them to eat. Though the species are also found on the east coast of the U.S., the Atlantic birds aren't suffering a similar trend.

"We don't know why, but [the west coast pelicans] are not finding the food that they need," says Jeni Smith, the zoological curator of animal rescue programs at SeaWorld San Diego. "And if that's the case, then they are looking for it elsewhere, and that might explain why they are inland or in unusual locations."
