One in five Australians have been victims of 'revenge porn,' according to a study. Men and women are almost as likely to be victims - but those within marginalized groups are at a greater risk.

A total of 4,300 people aged 16 to 49 were surveyed in the study by RMIT University and Monash University. Some 20 percent of those involved had sexual or nude images taken of them without consent, 11 percent had the images distributed and 9 percent were threatened with them being shared.

"Our survey only captured those victims who had become aware their images had been distributed, whereas some victims may never discover that their images have been taken and distributed, particularly if they are circulated on sites located on the dark web," Dr Asher Flynn from Monash University said in a statement.

Study of older adults shows those who consistently exercised as little as 15 minutes, 3 times/week are less likely to develop depressive symptoms

A new study published in The British Medical Journal compares the effects of varying amounts of exercise on preventing depressive symptoms in older adults. There has been limited research to date on the long-term mental health effects of exercise within older adult populations. Utilizing a prospective approach, the authors compared four types (duration/frequency) of moderate exercise and found evidence that persistent low amounts of exercise can have physical and psychological benefits for older adults.

Persistent low-volume practice (less than 15 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per day) was shown to have preventive effects on depressive symptoms, similar to the effects of 30 minutes of exercise, the authors explain.

If one wants to have healthy kids, one does not want to inject one's children with vaccines that contain a long list of nasty substances. We should not trust doctors, big pharmaceutical companies nor the CDC and FDA with their long list of lies, deceptions and false basic assumptions. As part of the budget deal that prevented a government shutdown last week, the FDA will fund a new campaign to combat what they perceive as misinformation about GMOs in our food.

The budget deal gave the FDA $3 million dollars to provide "consumer outreach and education regarding agricultural biotechnology," which includes information on genetically engineered food. They'll supposedly use the money to try to show the positive side of GMOs—which make up 80 percent of maize and soybean crops planted in the U.S.—including their "environmental, nutritional, food safety, economic, and humanitarian impacts."

Today, the fashion for medicines, the fashion to use various drugs can only be surpassed by women's clothing fashion. So-called Big Pharma has been booming for years and it's not over just yet. In fact, what we are witnessing today can as well be described as drug epidemics. There's a heavily advertised drug for every condition, no matter real or imagined, the drugs have become a new fetish. And not only in the eyes of those who are being treated, but also in the eyes of those who are treating. The patient doesn't visit a doctor to receive a piece of advice anymore, instead he comes for a prescription.

The Future in the form of the fourth-generation drugs, obtained through the use of genetic engineering, is already here. But it's often tragic that in pursuit of a new panacea it is often overlooked that the same drug can achieve various results, with an unexpected and often tragic result usually to follow. Today, mortality rates from the use of drugs in developed countries, are at the top of the list, along with such death causes as cardiovascular and lung diseases, cancer, trauma and poisoning.

And it's been noted by the Daily Caller, a disturbing majority of businesses in the US are being negatively impacted by prescription painkiller abuse and addiction among employees.

When asked whether it could provide studies to support specific claims it made about vaccine safety, the American Academy of Pediatrics ultimately declined.

On January 10, 2017, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) issued a press release to express its opposition to a federal commission that has been proposed by the Trump administration to examine vaccine safety and efficacy. The AAP argues that since we already know that vaccines are safe and effective, therefore there is no need for further examination into their safety and efficacy.

This argument, however, begs the question — it presumes in the premise the proposition to be proven (the petitio principii fallacy). And the press release itself illustrates why, apart from the question of whether there should be a federal commission, critical examination of public vaccine policy is very much warranted.

US police have issued an urgent public alert after a spate of deaths from a drug so potent it can kill anyone who touches it.

The opioid known as furanyl fentanyl - a version of the powerful synthetic painkiller fentanyl - can cause a fatal overdose just by being absorbed through the skin. It's reportedly caused 19 deaths in the state of Georgia over the last year.

The drug was placed on the Schedule I list of controlled substances last year after being associated with 128 deaths across five states in 2015 and 2016. Schedule I is reserved for drugs with the highest levels of addictiveness.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has reacted to the number of overdoses and incidents related to the drug, as well as others, by issuing a public safety alert Thursday.

"U-47700 and furanyl fentanyl are both Schedule I drugs and used in the same manner as heroin. Schedule I drugs have a high potential for abuse and no currently accepted medical treatment use in the United States. The drugs are distributed in either powder or tablet form," GBI said in a statement.

All healthy persons six months of age and older should get a routine flu shot, according to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). Mounting research, however, systematically proves that the flu shot, otherwise known as the influenza vaccine, doesn't work and may cause severe damage to the body. Nonetheless, for many Americans, adults and children alike, the flu shot remains a yearly ritual imposed by their doctor, employer, or school.

But how effective, safe, and useful are these yearly vaccines? The flu vaccine is developed months before the start of the flu season to give manufacturers enough time to produce the shot for as many people as possible. Every year scientists predict which three or four strains will be most common and vaccine manufacturers base their annual flu jab on these predictions. Hence why vaccines do not provide maximum protection since other strains may appear throughout the season. This means that even if someone received the shot, there is still a chance that they could get sick.
