A week after tornadoes killed 23 people in Alabama, 10 reported twisters touched down in parts of Arkansas and Louisiana Saturday, as severe weather continued to sweep across the country.

One tornado was reported in Prairie County, Arkansas, while another was observed in Hosston in Caddo Parrish. Strong wind gusts caused across the entire state of Arkansas -- with some reaching 60 mph in some areas.

The National Weather Service confirmed en EF-1 tornado touched down Saturday morning outside Little Rock with peak winds of as much as 110 mph. Two people were injured when the storm struck Toltec, Arkansas, at 10:23 a.m.

The unidentified man who was injured in a dog attack Friday afternoon has died from what police are calling a medical incident.

Lubbock Police responded to a dog-related incident in the 7900 block of Oak Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. Friday. KAMC News reports that 2 dogs were fighting and one person was trying to break up the fight.

According to a statement from LPD, the man had minor injuries to his hands after breaking up the dogs, but several minutes later began feeling ill and had trouble breathing.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Eagle County awoke Friday to fresh scars carved across many of the county's mountainsides, as a series of large-scale avalanches that began Thursday continued to roar through the Rocky Mountains — with more snow on the way.

On Thursday morning, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center had already documented 302 avalanches across the state since Feb. 27 with 209 of them large enough to bury, injure or kill someone.

Weekend snowstorms were only a prelude to Thursday's slides, however, and the CAIC had to issue extreme avalanche danger warnings for four backcountry zones for the first time since the 10-zone forecast format began.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 jolted 260 km SE of Lambasa, Fiji at 08:12:25 GMT on Sunday, the US Geological Survey said, Trend reports citing Xinhua.

The epicenter, with a depth of 567.38 km, was initially determined to be at 17.8313 degrees south latitude and 178.662 degrees west longitude.

No fatalities or injuries have been recorded in this particular incident that took place in early March in Rispa village in north India's Himachal Pradesh state.

The region has suffered sub-zero temperatures for the past two months with an avalanche in February claiming the life of one Indian Army personnel.

The army has been ordered in after six Matatiele children were swept to their deaths in a flash flood on Wednesday.

Defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula said the Engineer Corps would urgently construct a bridge over the Mgxojeni river in the village of Pontseng, which claimed the lives of children between the ages of 5 and 7 as they were walking home from school.

Witnesses said the victims were among 17 children who were caught halfway across the river when floodwaters suddenly arrived. All of them were swept away but villagers rescued 11.

Two labourers working on the Char Dham all-weather road project in Tehri district of Uttarakhand were killed in a landslide on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred near Nagni on Chamba-Rishikesh stretch of the Rs 12,000 crore all-weather Char Dham road project. An operator and a helper were operating the earthmover on the road construction site when a landslide took place, bringing down silt and boulders on the machine.

More than 100 dead and injured ringtail possums have been found by wildlife rescuers along a single stretch of beach in Victoria in what ecologists say is becoming an annual occurrence due to extreme heat.

Rescuers and wildlife carers discovered 127 ringtail possums along the shoreline and in the water at Somers Beach on the Mornington Peninsula on Saturday during a four-day period that saw consistent temperatures in the high 30s, warm nights and bushfires in parts of the state.

Melanie Attard, a wildlife rescuer and foster carer with Aware Wildlife in Frankston, said rescuers suspected the animals had become so dehydrated and desperate they had left an area of scrub and come down to the beach and attempted to drink salt water.

"We assume they've come out due to the heat stress heading for the water in desperation," she said.

A Florida toddler was mauled to death by a family dog on Friday. The attack happened in the community of High Springs, just outside of Gainesville.

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office says the 2-year-old boy was with his grandmother as she went to her daughter's home to check on the dogs. The grandmother let the dogs out in the yard with the boy while she went inside to prepare food.

"She's inside briefly. When she goes back outside, she can no longer see her grandson, can no longer see the dogs," explained Lt. Brett Rodenizer with the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.
