Former youth football coach and convicted pedophile Barry Bennell has pleaded not guilty to eight counts of child sex abuse at a hearing at Chester Crown Court, UK.

Each count relates to a boy under the age of 14 and occurred between 1981 and 1986.

Bennell appeared via videolink from HMP Woodhill, in Milton Keynes, to plead "not guilty" to all the charges as they were read out to him.

One of the alleged offences is said to have taken place at a Butlins holiday camp.

Two offences were said to have occurred in Furness Vale, Derbyshire, while others were said to have happened in Nantwich, Cheshire.

Bennell was a highly respected coach in the 1970s, 80s and early 90s. He ran several feeder teams in the north west of England, including for English Premier League side Manchester City, which launched an investigation into his involvement with the club following the allegations.

Bad cop shoots inmate in chest with tear gas canister; good cop releases video footage and is now facing jail time

In May of 2015, Lt. Cody Waller sent a nonviolent inmate to the hospital after firing a tear gas canister at close range, into the center of his chest. Waller will not be fired and faced no charges. However, the Free Thought Project has just learned that the good cop who filmed the abuse and leaked the video of it is facing two to 10 years in prison for blowing the whistle.

In a clear case of retaliation for exposing violence in his department, Elderick Brass, the officer who filmed the abuse, was indicted late last month and appeared in court last week to face felony charges.

"You have right and you have wrong, and this is definitely wrong," Brass told ABC13's Ted Oberg in August 2015. "This type of behavior is unacceptable. It wasn't warranted. You clearly see the offenders are not being aggressive; they're not cursing at staff, they're not doing any of that."

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) also admitted to 'several mistakes' they made that night:
  • The tear gas round used in the incident never should've been used inside. It was designed for outside use.
  • The tear gas round never should have been aimed towards an inmate's chest. Instead it is designed to be shot against a hard surface like the floor or a wall spreading the gas.
  • The prison system told ABC13 it should have been shot through a slot in the dormitory door, not feet away from two groups of angry inmates with numerous corrections officers in the room as well.

Law enforcement and veterinary officials are planning an outreach campaign to educate veterinarians about a new frontier in the opioid epidemic: people so desperate for drugs that they take medication that had been prescribed to pets.

"The misuse of pet medication has serious safety implications — for people and animals," said Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan, in a letter that will be printed in the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association newsletter this week. "Educating people about the signs of drug misuse, available treatment resources and how to properly store and dispose of all medications is a crucial part of helping to stem the tide of overdoses and death."

In her letter, Ryan said she had only recently learned of the issue, when she met a pet owner who said she couldn't understand why her pet was in pain despite having been prescribed medication. Then, the woman realized that a family member had been taking the animal's pills.

"It suddenly became clear why the pet had not been getting better," Ryan wrote.

"We're puppets on a string": German journalist who spoke out about CIA control of media dies of heart attack

Udo Ulfkotte

Nothing to see here....natural causes....move along

Udo Ulfkotte, a German journalist and former editor of Germany's prestigous newpaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung who spoke out in recent years about the control of his profession by the CIA and US government, has died of a heart attack. He was 56.

Russia Insider conducted an exclusive interview with Ulfkotte in October 2014. Here is an excerpt:
We're talking about puppets on a string, journalists who write or say whatever their masters tell them to say or write. If you see how the mainstream media is reporting about the Ukraine conflict and if you know what's really going on, you get the picture. The masters in the background are pushing for war with Russia and western journalists are putting on their helmets.

I'm ashamed I was part of it. Unfortunately I cannot reverse this. Although my superiors at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung approved of what I did, I'm still to blame. But yes, to my knowledge I am the first to accuse myself and to prove many others are to blame.

MLK's niece: I voted for Trump

The latest media-manufactured controversy surrounding President-elect Trump involves Congressman John Lewis, who won't be attending the inauguration because he believes Mr. Trump will be an illegitimate president. (He reportedly believed the same about George W. Bush.)

American Thinker editor Thomas Lifson has written a very good piece about how the congressman shouldn't be considered immune from criticism simply because of his background as a civil rights leader.

Lifson writes:
The American left created a claque around [Congressman Lewis], requiring any serious discussion of the man to include a disclaimer as to his heroic status and infallibility.... This made him the perfect voice to go where no elected representative should go following the operation of the constitutional machinery for picking a president.

North Dakota lawmakers take aim at protestors: Introduce bill to protect drivers who 'accidentally' hit pedestrians

Republican lawmakers in North Dakota are taking aim at protesters with a handful of bills that would make another pipeline protest far more dangerous.

The oil-friendly legislature argues that its constituents are frustrated over the protests, which led federal authorities to halt construction of the $3.8-billion Dakota Access Pipeline as thousands of protesters braved cold weather and violence for months.

A bill that state GOP Rep. Keith Kempenich introduced would exempt drivers from liability if they accidentally hit a pedestrian, according to the Bismarck Tribune. House Bill 1203 was written up in direct response to groups of protesters blocking roadways, Kempenich told the paper. He claims protesters were seen jumping out in front of vehicles.

"It's shifting the burden of proof from the motor vehicle driver to the pedestrian," Kempenich said. "They're intentionally putting themselves in danger."

Making America great again: Blockades, 'giant queer dance party' and general disruption planned for Trump's inauguration

Blockades, demonstrations and an event billed as a 'gay dance parade' are being planned in an attempt to sabotage Donald Trump's inauguration, as left-wing protesters look to up the ante in a day of civil disobedience against the US president-elect.

A group known as #DisruptJ20, the most active in the day of disruption, have called for those opposed to Trump to join their "bold mobilization" in Washington, DC, described as an attempt to "shut down the Inauguration ceremonies and any related celebrations."

"If Trump is to be inaugurated at all, let it happen behind closed doors, showing the true face of the security state Trump will preside over," the group said in its call for action.

Protesters are also planning a "Giant Queer Dance Party" at the home of Vice-President-elect Mike Pence in the days leading up to the inauguration.

"Get ready to WERK it and tell Daddy Pence: homo/transphobia is not tolerated in our country!" the call to action reads.

Packing up the big top: Ringling Brothers circus to close after 146 years of operation

Send home the clowns.

After 146 years, the curtain is coming down forever on "The Greatest Show on Earth."

Its last performance will be May 21 at the Nassau Coliseum.

The show stoppers included high operating costs, declining attendance and changing public tastes.

Not to mention a long and costly legal battle with animal rights advocates, which ended with its hugest stars — the elephants — being pink slipped. Elephants had been the symbol of the circus since an Asian pachyderm named Jumbo joined the show in 1882.

Employes were told the sad news Saturday night in Orlando.

The circus will perform 30 more times. Besides the show on Long Island, there will be one in Brooklyn. Other stops on its last tour include Atlanta, Washington, Philadelphia and Boston.

With its exotic animals and death-defying acrobats, the big top had been a huge draw from the mid-1800s to the mid 1900s.
