The OKO - meaning The Eye - is currently the tallest in Europe, at a height of 354 metres (1161ft)
A teenager fell to his death from the 86th floor of Europe's tallest building after reportedly slipping while he was taking a selfie.

The 18-year-old, named only as Alexander Sh, landed on a Mercedes G-Wagen parked below the 1,161ft OKO skyscraper in Moscow.

Russian reports gave two versions over the student's tragic fall from close to a skating rink high above the Russian capital.

As well as the selfie version of events, when he fell, others suggested that he had a furious row with his father before running to a rooftop helicopter pad and falling off.

The OKO - meaning The Eye - is currently the tallest in Europe, at a height of 354 metres.

A source from Moscow emergency service: 'A young man - 18 years old - fell from the 86th floor of the OKO tower in Moscow City.

New poll shows growing number of Americans see Russia as 'imminent threat'

Vladimir Putin
A new Reuters/IPSOS poll shows a growing number of Americans seeing US-Russia relations as "back to the old days of the Cold War," with far more Americans seeing the Russian Federation as a bigger threat after the 2016 election campaign.

It should come as no surprise, of course, as the Clinton campaign spent the better part of the election claiming Russia was "hacking the vote," and hysteria around US-Russia hostilities seemed to grow precipitously every day through the election, and continued as a headline story well after the vote itself.

The polls show exactly what the campaign did to the American psyche, however, with a nearly 10% increase in the number of Americans identifying Russia as a "threat to the United States" between early 2015 and today. It's worth noting that the early 2015 figures were themselves already heightened by hype surrounding the East Ukraine civil war, and claims by US officials that a Russian invasion of Eastern Europe was imminent.

Distrust of Russians survived beyond the Cold War for many Americans, but in general US-Russia hostility hadn't penetrated into the panic mode levels of current polling data since the fall of the Soviet Union. The growing US military buildups in Eastern Europe and conflicting strategies of the US and Russia in Syria led to a growing amount of vilification of the Putin government.

Mateen declared allegiance to Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS/ISIL) during the attack in which 49 people were killed and 53 injured at the Orlando, Florida gay nightclub. Mateen himself died in a shootout with police.

Salman was arrested in San Francisco on Monday. She had moved several times since the shooting, citing hostility from the public.

Pink Zones: UK insurance company calls for gender segregated roadways

pink zone driving
In the name of equality, justice and safe spaces, a car insurance firm in the United Kingdom is advocating for the creation and designation of gender split roadways to give women their own lanes and separate infrastructure in order to avoid the perils of sharing the road with men.

Shiela's Wheels, a car and personal theft insurance company which bills itself as having a 'different spin on car insurance,' has assembled a fact sheet concerning the statistical differences between men and women in regards to highway safety, accidents and injury reports.

Their conclusion, in short, is that women are at a greater risk of accident and injury while traveling on roads occupied by men, and that in order to correct this societal imbalance, separate, pink roadways and lanes should to be funded and created by government to segregate men and women drivers in some of the more dangerous thoroughfares in the UK.
"To counteract these issues, the PinkZones design concept proposes two new types of roads." ~Shiela's Wheels, Pink Zones

Comment: This proposal, and the people who originated it, are absolutely bonkers.

Delhi police have arrested a serial pedophile who sexually abused an estimated 500 children he mostly targeted walking alone after school over the course of the past 12 years.

While in police custody for sexually assaulting two girls, aged 9 and 10 years old, Sunil Rastogi admitted to the litany of sexual attacks on children - and claimed to have attempted assaulting many other minors during the period.

"He seems to be mentally sick as he has some very weird notions. He is very superstitious and said he came by Sampark Kranti Express only and cancelled his visit if he missed the train," Deputy Police Commissioner Omvir Singh Bishnoi said in a press conference.

Rastogi was arrested and jailed for six months in 2006 for raping a minor, according to the Times of India, but his crimes continued unchecked by police years after his release.

Top Saudi cleric calls all vocal music & cinema 'a depravity'

Saudi Arabia beheading
Saudi Arabia is ruled by an oppressive regime with one of the worst human rights records in the world, and it's only getting worse.

I rarely need more reasons to dislike Saudi Arabia than I already have. After all it is the world's most inhumane state. But RT has just reported that top Saudi cleric Grand Mufti Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh has just castigated vocal musical performance and cinema saying that "We know that singing concerts and cinemas are a depravity".

Of course, in Saudi Arabia it is not a depravity to repress and murder Shia Muslims. It is not a depravity to ban Christian holy days and it is not a depravity to finance and encourage terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS. It is also perfectly normal to stone women to death and behead people for things which in almost every other state in the world are not crimes.
