NASA is debunking advertising put out by Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle brand 'Goop' claiming that a range of 'healing stickers' contains the same material used by the space agency's astronauts.
Goop claimed in a promo post on Thursday that its 'Body Vibes' smart frequency stickers are made with the "same conductive carbon material NASA uses to line space suits so they can monitor an astronaut's vitals during wear."

What could possibly go wrong in a classroom full of kids armed with weapons capable of firing pointy projectiles? Parents are calling for the Chinese government to intervene so they don't have to find out.

'Toothpick crossbows' have officially replaced fidget spinners as the must-have toy for children in China - but concerned parents are now calling for them to be banned.

Comedian Daniel Tosh just exposed a dark pedophile YouTube channel that has over 12 BILLION views

A disturbing trend in user uploaded videos to YouTube has led to the creation of several sites, which appeal to children, but may serve as eye candy for pedophiles.

In May, Maryland residents Mike and Heather Martin, temporarily had two of their children taken away by child protective services as a result of a video they made depicting their children crying as a result of what some have said was a sick stunt. The parents, who run a Youtube channel called DaddyOFive, seemed shocked when their children were removed from the home, but critics contend they abuse their children.

Unfortunately, children being depicted as unwilling participants in controversial videos has spurned a debate over what is appropriate for children, what may have been created for pedophiles, and what parents need to know. Thanks to comedian Daniel Tosh, this disturbing world of YouTube child exploitation is getting some much-needed coverage.

A 14-year-old girl was left hanging by her neck after a trip on an amusement park ride went badly wrong. Luckily, brave park staff and guests banded together and coaxed the girl into making a 20-foot (6 meter) leap of faith.

At approximately 7:45pm local time on Saturday evening operators of the 'Sky Ride' attraction received word that a young girl had become trapped and was dangling from a height. They quickly stopped the ride but the trapped girl's friend warned that the safety bar was choking her.

A pine tree fell on a ropeway in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir on Sunday, killing seven people inside a car that snapped from the cable and plunged some 30 meters, local police reported. The accident also left 100 people stranded in other cars.

The tragedy occurred in the disputed Kashmir region's Gulmarg area, a popular ski resort that attracts many tourists in the summer season as well.

A family visiting from New Delhi with two children, as well as three locals, including two guides, were in the car when it fell, police spokesman Imtiyaz Hussain said, adding that four people had also been injured, one of whom is in critical condition.

South Carolina ice cream shop owner attacked over Confederate flag he's fighting to remove

Confederate flag
© Nick Oxford / ReutersA Confederate flag flying outside a South Carolina ice-cream shop has caused controversy.
A South Carolina ice cream shop has come under fire over a giant Confederate flag in front of its property, but the owner has been fighting a losing battle to have it removed.

Tommy Daras opened the Edisto River Creamery & Kitchen in Orangeburg in 2015, but a contentious patch of land outside his restaurant - with the pole flying the offending flag - is owned by group embattled in its Confederate views.

The property's former owner had a chain of barbecue restaurants and raised Confederate flags in all of them, following a decision by the state to remove the flag from the Statehouse in 2000.

The former owner, Maurice Bessinger, supported racial segregation and described the Civil Rights Act as "unconstitutional." He once handed out pro-slavery leaflets at his restaurants.

Flashback American elections rank 26 out of 26 in the world for democratic integrity, here's why:

voting

The world is currently transfixed by the spectacle of American elections.

From New York, London and Paris to Beijing, Moscow, and Sydney there is endless heated debate in the news media and across dinner tables about the factors fueling the remarkable success of Donald Trump, speculation about a brokered convention shattering the old GOP, and the most likely outcome of a polarizing Trump-Clinton battle in the fall.

This contest matters. It is the election for the most powerful leader in the Western world, and some - like the Economist Intelligence Unit - regard Donald Trump as a major risk to global prosperity and stability. Also, as citizens of one of the world's oldest democracies, Americans like to think that the United States provides an influential role model for how elections should run in other countries.

The Electoral Integrity Project (EIP), founded in 2012, provides an independent evaluation of the quality of elections worldwide. The EIP's results have been published in several books, including my own Why Electoral Integrity Matters and Why Elections Fail - books that focus on comparing the quality of elections, understanding why problems arise, and diagnosing what can be done about these flaws.

We can use the data collected by the EIP to ask: Is the U.S. the electoral role model it imagines itself to be?

A democratic role model?

In practice, recent years have seen a long series of vulnerabilities in the conduct of American elections, as documented by the 2014 report of the bipartisan Presidential Commission on Election Administration. Indeed, these issues have been under close scrutiny ever since the notoriously flawed ballot design in Florida in 2000.

Several people have been arrested when a march staged by the far-right English Defense League (EDL) was opposed by several counter-protests by anti-fascist groups resulting in clashes between rival protesters in central London.

The trouble began even before the EDL march, according to British media.

Some scuffles were also later reported to have played out on the sidelines of the march despite the heavy police presence on the scene.
