We need to admit to ourselves that the U.S. Government's story about 9/11 is utter b******t

911 hijackers
It wasn't just me of course. It was an entire nation that was callously manipulated in the aftermath of that tragedy. The courage and generosity exhibited by so many New Yorkers and others throughout the country and indeed the world was rapidly transformed into terrifying fear. Fear that was intentionally injected repeatedly into our daily lives. Fear that translated into pointless wars and countless deaths. Fear that was used to justify the destruction of our precious civil rights. Fear that was used to initiate a gigantic power grab and the source of tremendous profits for the corporate-statists and crony-capitalists. Unfortunately, that is the greatest legacy of 9/11.

- From my 2013 post: How I Remember September 11, 2001
Unless we come to terms with 9/11 and the obvious fact that the official government story is a ridiculous fairytale, it'll be hard for our nation to move forward in an intelligent, courageous and ethical manner. Many of the most destructive trends which have defined our post September 11, 2001 environment, such as a loss of civil liberties and endless barbaric wars of aggression abroad, have been directly related to our false understanding of that awful terrorist attack. As I've always maintained, I have no idea what really went down on that day, I just know that the U.S. government and its intelligence agencies are not being honest.

Batten down the hatches: More nonsensical Nibiru-Planet X-Death Planet "news" coming our way!

death planet
Nibiru is going to destroy our planet on September 23rd!!!

Comment: Well it's been a little while since we've seen a spate of 'end of the world' articles giving a more or less specific date for THE 'end time'. We here at the SOTT news desk were beginning to worry that these pseudo-scientific religious types were slacking in their disinformation duties! But lo and behold we have two new articles to remind us that the cosmic cointelpro program is alive and well.

The first article below is titled: Author says he's seen 'secret photos' of death planet on its way to destroy Earth on September 23. Much to the author of the article's credit, he has some good comments on the decades-long pattern of false predictions we've been talking about here on SOTT.net for years.

If you've only just come back from your summer holidays, here's something you might have missed - a hidden death planet is on its way to kill us all after September 23.

Or at least that's what Christian conspiracy theorist and author David Meade reckons - and he now claims to have seen actual photos of death planet Nibiru on its way to kill

Meade - along with a bunch of other oddballs on YouTube - reckons the end will begin on Sept 23, when Nibiru becomes visible in the sky.

No scientists agree with him - but hey, when has that stopped a good conspiracy theory?

Meade, though, is doubling down on his assertions, and claimed on a conspiracy theory radio show that he had spoken to a professor of astronomy in Paris, who told him that Nibiru is real.

Meade said, 'I asked 'is it real?' And he said, 'Oh yes.'

Comment: As has been stated here many times before, the big problem with such predictions (never mind the "data" that it's allegedly based on) is that when these events don't happen, a number of people end up dismissing the very real possibility for something occurring that is indeed cosmic and catastrophic in nature. And we do have a lot information pointing to the idea that Something Wicked this Way Comes.

Hillary's disorder: Is no one going to admit the obvious?

Queen hillary Clinton
As Hillary Clinton makes the rounds to sell her book on any television program or venue that will have her, it becomes clearer and clearer that by electing Donald Trump, the country saved itself from certain disaster. So why is no one saying what is patently obvious? Mrs. Clinton is a classic narcissist. She has narcissistic personality disorder.
There's a reason narcissists don't learn from mistakes and that's because they never get past the first step which is admitting that they made one. It's always an assistant's fault, an adviser's fault, a lawyer's fault. Ask them to account for a mistake any other way and they'll say, 'what mistake?'" -Jeffrey Kluger

Internet addiction is making us dumber says psychologist

Dr. Phil Reed, a psychologist specializing in internet addiction, has spoken to Sputnik about some of the negative ways the digital revolution has negatively affected our key brain functions and made us, for lack of a better word, dumber.

Reed, a professor of developmental psychology, behavioral science and abnormal psychology at Swansea University in Wales, told Radio Sputnik that internet addiction is a real thing, that it is similar in many ways to other addictions, and that scarily little is known about its long-term effects.

"I think the evidence is becoming increasingly clear that for some people there is such a thing as internet addiction, or perhaps more broadly a digital dependence," the professor said. It's also clear "that there is a sizable proportion of individuals who find it very difficult to put aside a connection with a digital device and the internet, and that they suffer all sorts of withdrawal symptoms, both psychological and physical, as a consequence of not being in contact with those devices," he added.

Young people are especially at risk, Reed noted, but not why one might think.

"My own view is that this isn't because they are any more susceptible than any other age group - I think anybody is perfectly capable of developing digital dependence. It's just that young people tend to inhabit the internet and social media world more than people in middle age and older life."

St. Louis riot police were filmed pushing and then walking over an older woman protester during demonstrations Friday.

Protests erupted in St. Louis Friday after police office Jason Stockley was acquitted of the 2011 killing of Anthony Smith, whom he shot five times following a high speed chase.

Demonstrators gathered in downtown St. Louis before later marching to the home of Mayor Lyda Krewson Friday night. The incident with the woman took place earlier in the day, when it was still bright out, at Tucker Boulevard and Clark Avenue intersection and was shared online by Fox affiliate KTVI.

Amazon.com begins to gobble up TV channels

Amazon already accounts for about a quarter of all online sales in the United States. Now the company is holding talks to supersize its video-channel business, not just in the U.S. but around the globe.

In the past few weeks, Amazon has started talks to buy scores of small television channels, several major program providers confirmed to NBC News. A representative for Amazon declined to comment, but hinted there will be much to say in the coming weeks about its efforts in online video.

Currently, subscribers to Amazon Prime get TV, movies and music, as well as free shipping on online purchases. They can also pay extra for premium channels such as HBO and Showtime, along with a host of niche-interest services on topics such as health or horror.

As traditional pay-TV providers scale down their offerings into cheaper so-called skinny bundles, Amazon is looking to scoop up smaller TV channels with minimal distribution in order to build itself into a video destination for every imaginable niche, with a particular focus on millennial audiences. Many networks have channels like these, including Turner Broadcasting's Adult Swim and Boomerang, or Viacom's VH1 and CMT.

Facing imminent bankruptcy, Toys "R" Us enters death spiral

Toys 'r Us bond price
Last week's news that Toys "R" Us has hired bankruptcy lawyers Kirkland & Ellis to help restructure its heavy debt load, came as a shock to the company's creditors, who promptly sent its bond crashing from nearly par at the start of the month to 43 cents on the dollar as of Friday.

As Bloomberg first reported, K&E is focused on the $400MM in bond due 2081, while Toys "R" Us has also retained Lazard to help with debt refinancing. They will have their hands full: in addition to shrinking sales and heightened competition, Toys 'R' Us has been burdened with debt from an LBO12 years ago as a result of which Toys "R" Us's private equity owners, Bain Capital, KKR and Vornado Realty Trust, loaded up the company with $7.5 billion in debt.

Hard-core Russian religious activists firebomb St. Petersburg theater over coming movie about Nicholas II affair

fire bomb russia movie Tsar Matilda
Over the past two weeks, unidentified assailants tossed Molotov cocktails into the St. Petersburg studio of Matilda director Aleksei Uchitel and set fire to two cars near his lawyer's Moscow office, leaving behind leaflets reading, "To Burn for Matilda."
In January, Andrei Alekseyev received a letter from religious activists warning that movie theaters like his "could burn" if they showed a forthcoming film about a romantic liaison of Russian Tsar Nicholas II, who has been canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church.

The letter, signed by a group calling itself Christian State-Holy Rus, claimed to have members across Russia prepared to sacrifice their lives for its "true Orthodox Christian path" and said that showing the film, titled Matilda, could lead to bloodshed and "civil war."

The controversy over the film, which tells of a romance between the unmarried crown prince and ballet dancer Matilda Kshesinskaya, mounted in the ensuing months, thanks in part to denunciations of the project by a controversial federal lawmaker.

But the warnings of violence in the letter, which other Russian cinema owners also received, now appear ominously prescient.

Over the past two weeks, unidentified assailants tossed Molotov cocktails into the St. Petersburg studio of Matilda director Aleksei Uchitel and set fire to two cars near his lawyer's Moscow office, leaving behind leaflets reading, "To Burn for Matilda."

Authorities also said that a man who opposed the film, set for nationwide screenings on October 26, set fire to a car at the entrance of a cinema in the city of Yekaterinburg on September 4, and that the small blaze spread to the theater's entrance.

Comment: Controversy has dogged Matilda from the beginning.

In August 2016 Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov made it known he wanted the film banned in his country
Kadyrov's letter, which was published in Komsomolskaya Pravda, describes the film as "a premeditated insult to the feelings of [religious] believers that "insults the sacred ... [and] the history of the peoples of Russia."

"In order to live with honor, we must remember our history and take pride in and revere those who fought for us," Kadyrov wrote. "We, the heirs of conquerors, must not only honor the memory of the defenders of the Motherland, but also raise the young generation in the spirit of respect for their history. I ask you to exclude the Chechen Republic from the distribution area of the film Matilda."

The deputy head of the nearby Daghestan region, Anatoly Karibov, filed a nearly identical appeal with the Culture Ministry on August 9.
Regardless, in the same month the Kremlin approved the release of the film.
The Russian Culture Ministry has cleared for release a film highlighting the romantic youth of Tsar Nicholas II, despite requests by Orthodox activists and other conservatives to ban the film.

The ministry on August 10 said it had issued a screening certificate for the film, titled Matilda, which depicts Nicholas II's relationship with half-Polish teen dancer Matilda Kshesinskaya.

In making the announcement, Vyacheslav Telnov, chief of the ministry's film department, said it found Matilda in full compliance with legal norms.
Matilda has rankled conservatives of all stripes. On November 3:
Only the trailer from the film Matilda, by director Aleksei Uchitel, is available, but that has been enough for the nongovernmental Tsar's Cross organization to denounce it as pornographic and unpatriotic.

"Against a general background of degradation, this film is just another attempt to insult something that is holy for the Russian people," the organization's leader, Nikolai Mishustin, wrote on social media on November 3.
[...]

The attacks on the film Matilda come against a background of growing concern about the influence of social and religious conservatives on the country's cultural life.

Late last month, theater director Konstantin Raikin gave a speech in which he lamented "attacks on art," mentioning the closure of an exhibition of photographs by American Jock Sturges, the cancelation of a production of Jesus Christ Superstar in Omsk, the 2015 closing of a production of the German opera Tannhauser in Novosibirsk, and others.

Noting that one protester at the controversial Sturges exhibition urinated on one of the photographs, Raikin questioned whether the protesters can really be considered defenders of morality.

Raikin said the protests against such cultural events were illegal and "paid for," implying that the government or the church could be inciting them.

He accused the government of trying to set itself up as the sole arbiter of morality and called on the cultural community to unite to prevent a return to "Stalinist times" in culture.

Writing in Kommersant on October 27, filmmaker Andrei Zvyagintsev, whose film Leviathan was shortlisted for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 2014, said "only a liar or an ignoramus" could deny the existence of censorship in Russia.

Police release video footage of teen girl found dead in hotel freezer

Keneeka Jenkins
Keneeka Jenkins
Video released by Rosemont police Friday depicts Kenneka Jenkins staggering alone through a deserted hotel kitchen and disappearing around a corner - the last time she's seen alive.

Though it doesn't capture her entering the walk-in freezer where her body was found, video taken by what appears to be a motion-activated camera shows that no one else came into that area until her body was found.

Village officials released the video after days of speculation about the death of the 19-year-old Chicago woman and pressure by community activists dissatisfied with the investigation.

Attorneys Larry Rogers Jr. and Sam Adam Jr., who represent Jenkins' family, said at a news conference Friday afternoon that they will conduct their own investigation and perhaps seek a second autopsy.
