Paris: Tens of thousands anti-Macron protesters march against labor reforms

Tens of thousands of demonstrators hit the streets of the French capital to protest the president's labor reforms, in what was sarcastically dubbed a 'Party for Macron' one year after he took office.

Demonstrators gathered in the streets of Paris to speak out against the reforms led by Macron, which include cutting worker protections.

Protesters could be seen holding banners which read "Stop Macron!" and "Down with the president of the rich!" Other signs depicted the French president as a king, with some protesters saying France is under a soft dictatorship.

Police put the number of participants at 40,000, while the far-left La France Insoumise (Unbowed France) organizers estimated that 160,000 people were in attendance. Smaller protests also took place in other French cities, including Toulouse and Bordeaux.

Comment: Macron is not the 'president of the people'. He has become the face and hammer of the oligarchy. Expect the protests to increase and the repercussions to become severe. Social revolution? See also:

109 Parisians are in police custody after May 1 violence

Paris Riots
© LadyMercia/Twitter/ReutersParis Riots: Cars left burned and smashed as militant violence swept the streets.
Over one hundred people have been arrested and taken into police custody after violence erupted in Paris May 1.

The number of those in custody had been announced as 102, but today it had reached 109 people, with the violence condemned by some as the "worst since 1968".

In total, 283 people were arrested and four lightly injured after rioting and violence broke out between police and extreme-left, masked and hooded militants, as the traditional Union Fête du Travail march took place. One of the injured was a CRS (a security police officer), who received a paving stone blow to the back.

Shops and businesses were also attacked; by 23h30 last night, 31 shops had been confirmed as damaged and smashed, of which two had been burned. Six vehicles had also been torched and a further 10 were found to have been vandalised. Anti-capitalist grafitti was also painted and scrawled on walls.

Police estimated that there were 20,000 unionists taking part in the usual Fête du Travail march, although union CGT put the number at a considerably-higher 55,000.

Alongside this, 14,500 people were estimated to have shown up outside the official remit of the march, of which 1,200 identified themselves as "black blocs".

Comment: A black bloc is a name given to groups of protesters who wear black clothing, scarves, sunglasses, ski masks, motorcycle helmets with padding, or other face-concealing and face-protecting items. The clothing is used to conceal marchers' identities.

FBI lawyer Lisa Page has resigned

The FBI attorney who exchanged anti-Trump text messages with another bureau official resigned on Friday, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned. The FBI confirmed that the lawyer, Lisa Page, tendered her resignation.

Page has faced months of scrutiny over the text messages, which she exchanged with Peter Strzok, the former deputy chief of the FBI's counterintelligence division.

The exchanges show a deep hostility to President Donald Trump at a time when the two officials were working on the FBI's investigation into possible Trump campaign collusion with the Russian government. Some of the texts show Strzok and Page cryptically discussing how to proceed with the investigation, which was opened on July 31, 2016.

Macron's sweeping reforms bring thousands out into streets of Paris in protest

Macron at 'Macron's bash' protests in Paris
Thousands of people demonstrated in central Paris on Saturday amid a heavy police presence to protest against President Emmanuel Macron's sweeping reforms, a year after he came to office.

Some 2,000 security forces including riot police were deployed as marchers gathered from midday in warm early summer sunshine in the central Opera square for a protest dubbed a "Party for Macron", a tongue-in-cheek "celebration" of the 40-year-old centrist's first anniversary in power.

Smaller rallies took place in the southern cities of Toulouse and Bordeaux while the Paris variant kicked off with a mass picnic which drew numerous families.

Organisers had urged participants to attend in a party mood but the high security owed much to hundreds of black-clad youths having torched cars and a McDonald's restaurant during traditional May 1 demonstrations in the capital, prompting fears that more "black bloc" protesters could hijack Saturday's event.

Buy your indoctrination for the low, low price of $10k! Harvard now offering 'social justice' certificates, with no requirements

social justice warrior sjw meme
No rational employer will hire anyone with a 'social justice' certificate, ever.
Harvard University is now offering graduate students the opportunity to earn a certificate in "social justice" by taking a series of online courses for a little more than $10,000.

The "Social Justice Certificate," which comprises 16 credit hours and takes one-and-a-half years to complete, is described as follows:
Through this liberal arts graduate certificate, you'll learn about core themes of social justice, including philosophy, economics, the environment, religion, politics, ethics, sociology, and law.

Comment: In other words, for a mere $10k, you too can be indoctrinated into the non-sense world of postmodernism and the completely subjective nihilism that follows.

Comment: Just more of the postmodern nihilist agenda coming out of universities. When will people wise up to the fact that these universities are leaving almost all forms of actual education behind in order to indoctrinate students while leaving them with mountains of debt and no job opportunities?

Members of the Missouri Legislature have acted to schedule a special session for the first time in the state's history, with the purpose of considering disciplinary actions against their governor. If the result ends with impeachment, it would be another first for the "Show-Me" state.

Republicans run the House and Senate in Missouri, making the move noteworthy as many members have called for the resignation of GOP Gov. Eric Greitens.

Greitens is in the midst of three investigations, facing two felony counts: one for the alleged blackmail of a former mistress, and another for the alleged use of his former nonprofit's donor list for campaign solicitations.

The bodies of at least 9,000 victims of paramilitary forces have been exhumed from mass graves across Colombia since 2006, according to national authorities.

More than 5,500 mass graves have been uncovered following testimonies from witnesses and former Colombia United Self-Defense (UAC) groups who applied to the Justice and Peace Law, said Mery Conejo, director of Transitional Justice of the Prosecutor's Office.

The remains of some 4,296 victims have been identified and delivered to relatives across nine departments, the majority returned to their families in the northern provinces of Antioquia and Magdalena.

"We have identified 4,300... Today, the rest of the bodies that we have exhumed are not waiting for the relatives, but the sample that allows us to make the corresponding genetic codes to be able to find that large number that we lack," Conejo said.

Palestinian Health Ministry: Six Hamas members killed in Gaza blast

At least six people have been killed in an explosion in the central Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Health Ministry said. Hamas' armed military wing blamed Israel, while Tel Aviv accused the group of persistently "distorting" reality.

The blast, in the Az-Zawayda area of the central Gaza Strip, caught local residents by surprise on Saturday. Six people were killed in the explosion, while another three suffered injuries and were rushed to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, Gaza's Health Ministry announced.

The explosion allegedly occurred as Hamas members were trying to defuse an explosive device inside a building, according to a Palestinian source that spoke with Haaretz. Some local media allege that the "work accident" happened as a result of the handling of explosives that were left following the Israeli onslaught on the strip during the 2014 Operation Protective Edge, AP reported.

New poll measuring Killary's approval rating is brutal

Hillary
© Mark Wilson/Getty Images"Not my fault!"
Hillary Clinton's had a year and half to demonstrate to the American people that they elected the wrong candidate, a message reinforced in every way imaginable by a mournful media suffering from a bad case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Her endless book tour has explained again and again "What Happened" to her inevitable candidacy, including weak-willed women, widespread racism, Middle American ignorance and those sinister Russian bots. So how are Americans feeling about the woman they failed to elect in 2016? Even worse. In fact, a lot worse.

According to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll, Clinton's favorability rating is even more grim than it was when she lost in 2016. Both Trump and Clinton made history in the election by being the least liked presidential candidates ever. Clinton staggered into the election with a 10-point deficit in her favorability rating (Trump was actually in worse shape). Now, Clinton's at an abysmal -25.
