'Master manipulator': 14 tantric yoga students claim sexual assault by guru at Thai yoga retreat

In the beginning, Agama Yoga was paradise for most who walked through its gates; a haven on the Thai island of Koh Phangan that embraced ancient tantric teachings under the watchful eye of its charismatic leader, the guru Swami Vivekananda Saraswati.

But beneath the surface, it seems this was no ordinary yoga school. Sixteen former pupils and staff who have spoken to the Guardian have said they felt a "sex cult" was operating inside Agama.

The 14 women and two men claim that for 15 years the retreat facilitated sexual assault, rape and misogynistic teachings, allegedly "brainwashing" hundreds of women into having sex with the Swami - whose real name is Narcis Tarcau - in the name of helping them achieve enlightenment.

After 31 women submitted testimonials to Agama alleging abuse, the school first tried to deal with it internally, but have now launched an independent inquiry .

Tarcau is understood to have left Koh Phangan in July, when several women went public with the allegations of abuse at Agama, and is no longer in Thailand. He could not be reached directly for comment.

The sex abuse scandal that has recently engulfed the Catholic Church is dramatically affecting Pope Francis' authority, Maurizio Blondet, a prominent Italian journalist and author, has told Sputnik, sharing his views on Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano's testimony and cases of cover-up of sexual misconduct among priests.

Pope Francis (Bergoglio) has found himself at the epicenter of the scandal over a letter by Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, the former apostolic nuncio to the United States (2011-2016) and ex-secretary-general of the Governorate of Vatican City State (2006-2011).

In his testimony, released on August 30, 2018, Vigano accused the pope and other top-level prelates of the Catholic Church of covering up sexual abuse of priests and seminarians by Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, who resigned from the College of Cardinals on July 28, 2018 over sexual harassment allegations.

According to Vigano, he informed Pope Francis about McCarrick's sexual misconduct on June 23, 2013, but the pope did nothing to address the problem. The archbishop further presumed that Pope Francis could have known about "sanctions" imposed on McCarrick by his predecessor, Pope Benedict, over the case, but nevertheless made McCarrick "his trusted counselor."

The United States has raised tensions further amid Syria's ongoing conflict. It has issued a threat in the form of a "warning" against Damascus against retaking the northern region of Idlib. More specifically, the US has accused Damascus of preparing chemical weapon attacks as part of its alleged strategy to retake the territory.

No evidence has been provided by the US to substantiate these accusations - and it is clear that the warning was actually a threat implicating a planned, staged provocation likely to be followed by US military aggression.

Indian congress leader and former minister has promised a reward of Rs 500,000 ($6,974) to anyone who chops off the tongue of a government lawmaker who sparked outrage this week after saying he'd be willing to "kidnap girls".

Subodh Saoji slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ram Kadam over his "embarrassing" comments, and vowed to pay anyone who cuts his tongue off of the hefty sum.

"As a lawmaker, it doesn't suit Ram Kadam to make such embarrassing remarks. My appeal to the citizens of Maharashtra is - anyone who chops off the BJP MLA's tongue will be rewarded with Rs five lakh," Asian news agency ANI quoted Saoji as saying.

An Arizona rancher has set up surveillance cameras on his property to film the number of immigrants, drug mules and human smugglers who he claims regularly use his property as a gateway to the United States.

John Chilton, 79, managed to capture hours of footage of illegal immigrants crossing over the US-Mexico border onto his 50,000-acre property in Arivaca.

In a 25-minute video obtained by the Daily Caller, Chilton's cameras show a steady stream of people, including some dressed in camouflage and brandishing guns, trespassing on his ranch.

Highlighting the sheer insane state of law enforcement in America today is a tragic story out of Dallas this week. An off-duty police officer walked into the wrong home after getting off shift, thought the homeowner was an intruder, and killed him. And, she has not yet been arrested.

The victim was 26-year-old Bothan Shem Jean who was most likely startled by someone coming into his home at 10:00 pm when the unnamed officer opened his door. While the details surrounding how Jean was killed are unclear, according to police, the officer admitted to killing him.

In a statement released on Friday, Dallas police said their officer called them after shooting Jean and told responding officers that "she entered the victim's apartment believing that it was her own."
On September 6, 2018 at about 9:59 p.m., an off duty Dallas Police officer called police dispatch and said she was involved in a shooting at the apartments located at 1210 S. Lamar.

Preliminary information suggests that the officer arrived home in full uniform after working a full shift. The officer reported to the responding officers that she entered the victim's apartment believing that it was her own. At some point, the officer fired her weapon striking the victim. Responding officers administered aid to the victim, a 26-year-old male, at the scene. The victim was then transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased. Next of kin notification has not been made at this time.

The officer was not injured and will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Dallas Police Department is conducting a joint investigation with the District Attorney's Office. This investigation is ongoing and we will release additional details as they become available and it is appropriate to do so.

Updates: Joan Ryan lost the vote tonight, a local activist who was in the meeting tells The Electronic Intifada. There were 95 votes recorded as no confidence, 92 votes confidence and four spoiled ballots.

The final motion passed last night differed from the draft attached below, in that it removed mention of the Jean Fitzpatrick incident.
