The NYPD just launched a new fleet of aerial drones

NYPD drone bombing family
The New York Police Department announced Tuesday the launch a new fleet of aerial drones to enhance investigation and feed live video back to officers and commanders around active crime scenes.

"As the largest municipal police department in the United States, the NYPD must always be willing to leverage the benefits of new and always-improving technology," said Police Commissioner James P. O'Neill.

"Our new UAS program is part of this evolution - it enables our highly-trained cops to be even more responsive to the people we serve," he said.

Comment: RT reports more on the legitimate concerns of having drone technology in the hands of police departments:
The New York Police Department is taking to the skies with a drone program, much to the dismay of civil liberties groups who worry the force's 14 new unmanned vehicles will be used to spy on New Yorkers with impunity.

The department claimed it does not plan to use the drones for "routine operations," but the "acceptable uses" included in a press release - "collision and crime scene documentation," "traffic and pedestrian monitoring at large events," even "search and rescue" - are vague enough to allow for general surveillance. The drones will be operated by 29 specially-trained members of the NYPD's Technical Assistance Response Unit.

The Legal Aid Society decried the program as another step toward militarization, an addition to the department's "unregulated arsenal of surveillance tools" that already includes more surveillance cameras per block (in Manhattan) than any other US city. The NYPD had attempted to preempt backlash by meeting with the New York Civil Liberties Union prior to announcing the program, but the NYCLU released its own statement criticizing the cops for their failure to place any "meaningful restrictions" on drone use. They also object to the permanent archiving of drone footage.

While the NYPD release lists "unacceptable uses" for which drones will not be deployed - "routine patrol," "traffic enforcement," and "search without a warrant" among them - that same release leaves the door wide open to breaking the rules. The list of "acceptable uses" for the new technology includes "other emergency situations with approval of Chief of Department."

More than 900 US law enforcement units already use drones in their operations, and the NYPD consulted with representatives from other police departments while putting together its program.

The Young America's Foundation has won a legal battle, forcing a major college campus to give conservative speakers the same freedoms they give to other speakers.

The lawsuit took over a year, and resulted in a settlement with the University of California (UC), Berkeley that plaintiffs celebrated as a victory for free speech on campus. The institution will pay the Young America's Foundation $70,000, plus reverse the"high-profile speaker policy," which the foundation believes was used to stifle conservative voices.

The institution also agrees to rescind the security fee policy, which the foundation considered to be used in discriminatory ways towards conservatives. Lastly, the campus will abolish the "heckler's veto," a strategy where leftists would protest until the school shut down a conservative speaking event.

A Black man killed by police in an Alabama mall in November was shot three times from behind, according to a forensic examination commissioned by the man's family.

The finding, announced in a news conference Monday, was seen by the man's family and lawyers as evidence he was running away and posed no threat to the officer who shot him.

Emantic Fitzgerald Bradford Jr., 21, was fatally shot in the middle of a panicked crowed at the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, Alabama, on Nov. 22, as officers responded to reports of gunshots on Thanksgiving night. Witnesses said Bradford, who was legally carrying a handgun, was directing shoppers to safety.

Two high-ranking police officials have dropped out of a planned training junket in Israel after campaigning from local human rights activists.

Working from public records, activists learned that Jody Kasper, the police chief of Northampton, Massachusetts, had accepted an invitation from the Anti-Defamation League, a major Israel lobby group, to join a delegation this week.

Activists also identified Colonel Matthew Birmingham, the director of the Vermont State Police, as one of 15 high-ranking police officials on the junket to Israel.

After meeting with members of their communities, Kasper and Birmingham recently announced that they would pull out of the delegation.

Utah state laws are preventing prosecutors from charging a man who attacked members of a Latino family at a Salt Lake City tire shop after yelling "I hate Mexicans" with a hate crime, according to Buzzfeed.

Alan Dale Covington, 50, was arrested after he allegedly attacked Jose Lopez and his 18-year-old son Luis Gustavo Lopez at the family's tire shop on Tuesday, with a metal pipe, according to the Salt Lake City Tribune.

The attack left Luis Gustavo in an intensive care unit with a shattered cheekbone and eye socket and collapsed sinus and has had a titanium plate implanted on the right side of his face, the newspaper reported. His father, Luis, escaped the attack with eight stitches on his arm and a bruised back.

Make America Mate Again: Scorned Trump supporters get their own dating website

Die-hard Trump supporter Christy Edwards Lawton was at a Manhattan party last year when she noticed a beautiful woman across the room.

The woman, who had "stunning" good looks, according to Lawton, seemed like someone who would have no trouble finding love. But she also had a surprising secret: she couldn't find a boyfriend in New York City because she voted for Trump.

"I'm a Republican," the woman whispered to Lawton, she recalled. "They don't want me."

Faced with romantic despair, Lawton saw opportunity. That encounter at the party-and the now-infamous incident where a Virginia restaurant refused to serve White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders-inspired her to start Righter, a dating network that caters to Trump supporters who have been rejected on more mainstream dating apps over their political beliefs.

Man gets his face bashed in by cops over asking them for directions

police arrest
Practicing your First Amendment right to free speech, in the land of the free, can and will get you beaten, kidnapped, or worse. As the body camera video below illustrates, you can be polite and courteous but when a raging cop snaps-and then lies about what happens-there is very little you can do to protect yourself.

Nicholas H. Belsito had committed no crime, had harmed no one, and was merely tailgating at a Bills game last year when he was savagely attacked by police, his nose broken, and blood gushing from his face. And it all began over asking for directions.

That day, Belsito's friend had been arrested for allegedly hitting a cop's elbow with an empty beer can. As his friend sat in the back of the police cruiser, Belsito wanted to ask for directions so he could pick him up at jail.

"I'm sorry," he says politely as Deputy Kenneth Achtyl lowers his window, "I'm just wondering where you guys are going, so I'm going to meet my friend there ..."

SOTT Focus: Where Transgender Ideology Gets Pathological: A Ponerological Critique

Gender unicorn
I despise deplatforming. If you're unaware, deplatforming is the process by which activists proclaim any person is a bigot/fascist/Nazi/racist/trans-misogynist or otherwise offensive - and thus they should not have the freedom to express themselves publicly. Deplatforming comes in all shapes and sizes, from shutting down a speaker at a college or university to bans on Twitter or demonetizing on YouTube. Basically, its a euphemism for outright censorship.

I recently shared an article from RT.com about a woman who was suspended from Twitter for tweeting "men aren't women." She railed against the politically correct tech giant immediately after her suspension, "This is fucking bullshit @twitter. I'm not allowed to say that men aren't women or ask questions about the notion of transgenderism at all anymore? That a multi billion dollar company is censoring BASIC FACTS and silencing people who ask questions about this dogma is INSANE."

Fiery plane crash in Ft. Lauderdale caught on surveillance video

Eladio Marquez
Family members said pilot Eladio Marquez was killed in the plane crash.
Surveillance video released Monday shows the moment a small plane crashed into an autism therapy center in Fort Lauderdale.

The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of West Cypress Creek Road.

"I saw the airplane pass just over me and the engine (went), 'put, put, put,' and after I see black smoke," witness Gerald Houle said.

The video shows the plane skidding down the street before crashing into the building and catching fire. Moments later, adults and children can be seen running from the building.

"As soon as it happened, it was literally in flames. It happened that quick," witness Kyla Robinson said. "There was nothing anybody could do. Just flames. That's all it was."

UK: Child killer who impaled 3 children on spikes to be released from jail, deemed 'no longer a risk'

David McGreavy
David McGreavy
A killer who murdered three young children and impaled their bodies on railings is to be released from jail after he was deemed no longer "a significant risk".

David McGreavy, 67, battered to death a nine-month-old baby, strangled her four-year-old brother and cut the throat of their sister, two.

He also mutilated their bodies with a pick axe before impaling them on a neighbour's spiked garden railings.

But a three-member Parole Board has decided McGreavy, dubbed the "Monster of Worcester", is safe for release, according to The Sun .

The children's furious mum Elsie Urry said: "I was told he'd never go free."

Comment: Knowledge of psychopathy is so absent in our society that we have professionals appointed to protect society releasing a sadistic child killer back onto the streets - and this isn't an isolated case. This creature hasn't changed. Psychopaths can't, they're hardwired that way. However, he sure has convinced the supposed professionals into thinking he has: Also check out SOTT radio's:
