London is set to introduce a series of new measures aimed at tackling illegal immigration into the UK and at strengthening the country's border security, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has announced.

According to a Wednesday statement, over the next six months the government plans to achieve the "highest rate of removals of those with no right" to be in the country since 2018, including asylum seekers whose applications have failed.

"We are taking strong and clear steps to boost our border security and ensure the rules are respected and enforced," Cooper stated.

The new measures include the immediate recruitment of up to 100 new specialist intelligence and investigation officers at the National Crime Agency (NCA) to "disrupt and smash criminal smuggling gangs and prevent dangerous boat crossings."

The government also revealed plans to increase its detention capacity, with 290 new beds at the Campsfield and Haslar Immigration Removal Centres.

In addition, a new intelligence-driven illegal working program will be rolled out to target, investigate and take down "unscrupulous employers who illegally employ those with no right to work here."

"A range of sanctions, including financial penalty notices, business closure orders and potential prosecution, will be taken against those employing illegal workers," the statement reads. "Those caught working illegally and eligible for removal will be detained, pending their swift removal."

Comment: An attempt to appeal to the British people and calm the unrest, but looking at the details it's clear that it's far too little far too late.

Southern California city bans smoking and vaping in apartments, condos

vaping, vape
Starting next year, smoking or vaping inside apartments, condos, or other multi-family housing in Carlsbad, Calif., will be illegal, the city council decided Aug. 20.

In a 4-1 vote, city leaders approved a smoke-free ordinance for multi-unit housing in the coastal city of 115,000 people, about 35 miles north of San Diego.

The new law, which will go into effect Jan. 1, 2025, covers all smoking and vaping, including marijuana used for recreational and medical purposes.

Although medical marijuana is legal in California, the city can prohibit its use in some places, according to Carlsbad City Attorney Cindie McMahon.

"The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its state counterpart do not require a reasonable accommodation for anything that poses a health and safety risk to other parties," McMahon said at the council meeting.

The city expects landlords and property management companies to enforce the new rules by including them in future lease contracts instead of the city hiring more code enforcement or police officers to respond to citizen complaints.

US town approves voluntary lockdown over Equine virus (EEE) fears as infection reported in ONE 80-year-old man

eastern equine encephalitis
Residents in a Massachusetts town are being urged not to leave their homes after dark due to the spread of a deadly mosquito-borne virus.

The Board of Health in Oxford, a city of 13,300 people about 50 miles southwest of Boston, has set an outdoor curfew in hopes it will reduce the chances of people being bitten by mosquitoes which carry Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE).

It comes after a resident was the first human to contract the rare and untreatable illness - known as 'Triple E' - domestically in nearly four years.

Triple E causes a fever and brain swelling and can lead to seizures and comas. One-third of people infected with EEE die and those who recover are often left with lifelong physical and mental difficulties.

New documents released Thursday reveal that 'confusion and chaos' reigned in the company's Renton factory that built two 737 MAX planes that later crashed, killing 346 people in 2018 and 2019, the Seattle Times reports.

According to a prominent whistleblower Ed Pierson, production issues from back then still affect MAX planes flying today. The new documents reveal multiple electrical issues that were discovered as Boeing assembled the Ethiopian Airlines jet that crashed in 2019.

The Times notes that in 2018, the FAA found that employees in another Boeing facility in Everett, WA - where electrical components for integration - had been pushed to move to fast, and produced defective pieces.

An explosion outside a synagogue in southern France wounded a police officer early on Saturday (Aug 24) in what authorities said was being treated as a potential terror attack.

Security around Jewish sites was tightened following the early Saturday blast outside the Beth Yaacov synagogue in the seaside resort of La Grande Motte, near the city of Montpellier.

Two cars outside the synagogue burst into flames after a gas canister likely exploded inside one of the vehicles, police said. The blast wounded a police officer.

Comment: It remains to be seen just exactly happened here, but, across the West, there appears to have been a spike in seemingly unstable individuals attacking various groups in society; Judaism, and Zionism, do not appear to be anymore a target than other groups:

Knife attack at 'festival of diversity' in Germany leaves 3 dead, 4 injured, attacker escapes and remains unidentified

Three people have been killed and four were seriously injured in a knife attack at a German festival, police have said.

They added the perpetrator of the attack on festivalgoers in the western city of Solingen was on the run, German news agency dpa reported.

Police confirmed it was a knife attack in a post on X. The attack happened on a central square, the Fronhof.

Passers-by were stabbed at random, according to Bild, in an attack reported to have started at about 9:45pm local time.

Comment: There has been a surge in seemingly random knife attacks of date, particularly across the West, and there doesn't appear to be any thread, such as a motive, that the perpetrators share. Except for perhaps that the majority appear to be disturbed, and seemingly susceptible, whether that be to the propaganda media, the general malaise that's affecting the planet, or the 'authorities' whom some of them were known to:

PBS propagandist Judy Woodruff blatantly lies about Trump trying to kill Gaza ceasefire in order to help Kamala

Judy woodruff
© PBS NewsHour/YouTubePBS' Judy Woodruff "reports" from the 2024 Democratic Convention
PBS's willingness to enable Woodruff's dishonesty is disturbing but mimics an all-too-familiar pattern found in corporate media.

PBS's Judy Woodruff may have spent the last 50-plus years in journalism, but her attempt to wrongfully accuse former President Donald Trump of killing the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas and then lying about it proves she's more of a Democrat propagandist than anything else.

The 77-year-old former anchor and managing editor of the PBS NewsHour declared during her broadcast from the Democratic National Convention on Monday that Trump used a recent phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to urge the cancellation of peace talks. Despite having no evidence for this claim, Woodruff also insisted that Trump "believed that [a ceasefire deal] would help the Harris campaign."

"The reporting is that former President Trump is on the phone with the prime minister of Israel, urging him not to cut a deal right now, because that, it's believed that would help the Harris campaign," Woodruff said.

Kentucky governor slammed for JD Vance rape comment: 'What a disgusting person'

Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, on Tuesday reviled a suggestion by Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear that the senator should "go through" pregnancy due to rape.

The Democratic governor's comments came during an appearance on MSNBC, during which he said Sen. Vance has previously referred to pregnancy due to rape as "inconvenient." Such a characterization did not sit well with the Bluegrass State leader. Beshear said:
"Inconvenience is traffic. I mean it is a — make him go through this. It is someone being violated, someone being harmed and then telling them that they don't have options after that."
Gov. Beshear was likely referring to a 2021 interview during which then-Senate candidate Vance said society should not view a pregnancy due to rape or incest as "inconvenient."

Sen. Vance said in 2021:
"My view on this has been very clear and I think the question betrays a certain presumption that is wrong. It's not whether a woman should be forced to bring a child to term, it's whether a child should be allowed to live, even though the circumstances of that child's birth are somehow inconvenient or a problem to the society. The question really, to me, is about the baby."
The senator took to X Tuesday to revile the remarks leveled against him.

Israel faces collapse 'in less than a year' if war of attrition continues: Retired general

Facing a crumbling economy, global calls for boycotts, internal strife, a shortage of troops, and war on several fronts, Israeli authorities have continued to sabotage ceasefire talks that could quell regional tensions

The former ombudsman of the Israeli army, reserve General Yitzhak Brik, says his country "faces collapse in less than a year" if the war against the Palestinian resistance in Gaza and the Lebanese resistance in the north continues at its current pace.

In an opinion column published by Haaretz on 21 August, Brik claims Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has begun to "sober up," pointing to Gallant's recent comments in which he called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's promises of "total victory" in Gaza "gibberish."

"[Gallant] has started to understand that if a regional war breaks out due to failure to reach a [ceasefire deal], Israel will be in danger," Brik says, adding that "Gallant already understands that the war has lost its purpose. We are sinking into the mud, losing fighters who are killed and wounded, with no chance of achieving the main goal." "Indeed, the country is galloping to depreciation. If the war of attrition against Hamas and Hezbollah continues, Israel will collapse in no more than a year," the former army commander highlights.

Comment: Others, like Shin Bet leader Ronen Bar, not out of a sense of conscience, but perhaps out of a sense of sheer self-preservation - have also made the correct observation that Israel is (of its own accord) descending into a downward spiral:
[...]He went on to warn that the solution to the problem was not the Shin Bet and that the situation had to be remedied by the country's leaders.

"The damage to the State of Israel, especially now and to the vast majority of the settlers, is indescribable: global delegitimization, even among our greatest allies; spreading thin the IDF's personnel which is already struggling to keep up with all its missions and which wasn't intended to deal with this; vengeful attacks that are sparking another front in the multi-front war we are in; putting more players into the cycle of terror; a slippery slope to the feeling of a lack of governance; another obstacle to creating local alliances that we need against the Shiite axis; and above all, a massive stain on Judaism and us all," Bar wrote.
Take note: The developments in Israel are just a natural consequence of a country that is ruled by a high concentration of psychopaths.
