The enemy of green energy: the high pressure system

At 5 p.m. last Wednesday, Germany's 1602 offshore wind turbines in the North and Baltic Seas stood still...solar output was also near zero. Germany had to scramble to keep supply going.

In the words of Professor Claudia Kemfert: It is a myth to believe that solar and wind do not provide enough electricity. The myth that there will be enough wind and sunshine somewhere in Europe was shattered at the beginning of November 2024. Daniel Wetzel describes the situation in the online Die Welt (pay article)

Michigan jury awards $12M to woman fired for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine

covid flu
A jury awarded more than $12 million Friday to a woman who lost her job at a Michigan insurance company after declining to get a COVID-19 vaccination.

Much of the award — $10 million — is for punitive damages against Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, according to the verdict form.

Lisa Domski, who worked at Blue Cross for more than 30 years, said she was a victim of religious discrimination. The company in 2021 did not grant an exemption from its vaccine policy, despite her insistence that it clashed with her Catholic beliefs.

A voice for the people: Trump admin websites let citizens vote on policy and nominees

Would a fascist take policy and nominee advice from the populace?

In the lead up to the election leftist media outlets parroted the baseless critique that President Trump is a fascist. Comparing Trump to Hitler and invoking the term Nazi frivolously, was commonplace in the last few weeks prior to the election. This was the propagandists' "Alamo," as they made last ditch efforts to suggest Trump would impose a 'Handmaid's Tale' dystopia on all of America.

With zero evidence to support these claims and four years of a first term that proves otherwise, it appears that the left just doesn't like Donald Trump the man. A majority of the left's rhetoric has suggested that Donald Trump is an existential threat to democracy.

By suggesting President Trump will be Hitler and that he is a threat to democracy the implication is that he will be a dictator. It follows that the left is suggesting Trump will take away rights and freedoms.

Comment: Great idea. Americans, make your voices and choices known!

At least 3,000 people were traveling in a caravan of illegal immigrants from Mexico on Election Day with the intention of reaching the United States. After Donald Trump's election victory, it was learned that many have decided to abandon the journey.

"When news of the president-elect's victory reached their phones, many decided to return for fear of deportation. Trump has promised to initiate a massive deportation program during his next term in the White House," explained Reuters, which spoke with several of the undocumented immigrants.

In addition, border authorities indicated that the number of illegal immigrants making up the caravan is now estimated to have been reduced to approximately 1,600 people.

Comment: Newsmax adds:
Trump has long positioned himself as a border hawk and has promised he will conduct a mass deportation of illegal immigration if he was elected to a second terms in the White House.

"We're going to have the largest deportation in the history of our country," Trump said in September during a speech in Los Angeles. "And we're going to start with Springfield and Aurora, [Colorado]."

Many migrants communicate on Telegram and other social media apps to get updates about any changes in the U.S. immigration system. Some were dismayed that Trump received 46% of the Latino vote.

"They forgot about when they were on the other side," said Mahily Paz, a Venezuelan migrant.
No, the folks that voted for Trump were those who came legally, and are fed up with criminal line-jumpers.

In the wake of a sweeping Republican electoral victory, filmmaker and actress Justine Bateman said on Friday that she had been "walking on eggshells" the past four years, a period she called "un-American."

"I have found the last four years to be an almost intolerable period. A very un-American period in that any questioning, any opinions, any likes or dislikes were held up to a very limited list of "permitted positions" in order to assess acceptability," Bateman posted on X..

Bateman, who appeared in hit TV shows "Family Ties" and "Desperate Housewives," added further that she's never known such conditions "to be an American environment."

Gaza's top Islamic scholar issues fatwa condemning 7 October attack

Gaza war palestine
Hamas's attack on 7 October triggered the war with Israel
The most prominent Islamic scholar in Gaza has issued a rare, powerful fatwa condemning Hamas's 7 October 2023 attack on Israel, which triggered the devastating war in the Palestinian territory.

Professor Dr Salman al-Dayah, a former dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at the Hamas-affiliated Islamic University of Gaza, is one of the region's most respected religious authorities, so his legal opinion carries significant weight among Gaza's two million population, which is predominantly Sunni Muslim.

A fatwa is a non-binding Islamic legal ruling from a respected religious scholar usually based on the Quran or the Sunnah - the sayings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad.

UNICEF: Children the primary victims of Israel's 'scorched earth' in Gaza

UNICEF
Thousands of babies have been left without life-saving care, a spokesperson for the UN's children's agency has told RT.

Nearly 70% of those killed in Gaza as part of Israel's war on the Palestinian militant group Hamas have been children and women, the UN Human Rights Office said in a new report on Friday, released 13 months after the start of the latest hostilities in the enclave.

The document, covering the period from November 2023 to April 2024, states that "justice must be served" for "the grave violations of international law that have been committed."

The three most common age categories among the victims in Gaza have been children aged from five to nine years old, children from ten to 14, and babies and children under four, the UN Human Rights Office wrote.

A massacre within a massacre: How journalists reporting on Gaza deaths are being targeted

In spite of experiencing two Israeli wars on Gaza, I never imagined the horrific scenes coming out of northern Gaza now: Israel is exterminating the population in broad daylight, broadcast for all the world to see.

And no one is doing a damn thing to stop it.

Israel has besieged northern Gaza for weeks, preventing most humanitarian aid from entering, putting the population of 400,000 already starving Palestinian civilians in the north at severe risk of full starvation. The Israeli parliament has voted to ban UNRWA, the United Nations agency for humanitarian aid, which has been the sole lifeline for many Palestinians.

Israeli forces have also bombarded water stations and wells, as well as cutting off communications with the outside world, depriving people of access to water, and leaving them trapped and isolated.

Palestinians will not be allowed to return to homes in northern Gaza, says IDF

Brig Gen Itzik Cohen said in a briefing that aid would only be allowed to enter south of Gaza Strip, not the north. IDF says comments taken out of context.

Israeli ground forces are getting closer to "the complete evacuation" of northern Gaza and residents will not be allowed to return home, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has said, in what appears to be the first official acknowledgment from Israel it is systematically removing Palestinians from the area.

In a media briefing on Tuesday night, the IDF Brig Gen Itzik Cohen told Israeli reporters:
"Since troops had been forced to enter some areas twice, such as Jabaliya camp, there is no intention of allowing the residents of the northern Gaza Strip to return to their homes. Humanitarian aid allowed to 'regularly' enter the south of the territory but not the north, since there are 'no more civilians left'."
International humanitarian law experts have said that such actions would amount to the war crimes of forcible transfer and the use of food as a weapon.
