Matthew Livelsberger was a veteran US special forces operative.

The US Army veteran suspected of detonating a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas was a supporter of the Ukrainian nationalist cause, according to a photo posted on Facebook.

Thirty-seven-year-old Matthew Livelsberger was killed and seven bystanders injured when the Cybertruck he was driving exploded outside the hotel on Wednesday. Tesla CEO Elon Musk attributed the blast to explosive materials transported in the truck's bed, and the FBI is investigating the incident as a potential act of terrorism due to its proximity to the Trump International Hotel and a similar attack in New Orleans earlier that day.

In a photo purportedly shared by Liveslberger's wife on Facebook in 2016, the former soldier can be seen wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with a Ukrainian coat of arms and the slogan "Slava Ukraini," or "Glory to Ukraine."

Putin's audacious building boom in Mariupol, Donbas - and why it's important

building boom in Mariupol
I tweet about migrating to Russia at @cbausman and Telegram. DMs are open.
MUCH bigger, more impressive than people realize due to incompetent Russian propaganda. Reflects the energy and exhuberance of a confident, powerful land - a glimpse of her booming economy.

Blog housekeeping: It has happened every of the 4 Falls that we have been here. Energy levels in Russia seem to fluctuate more than in the West. Russians, like the French, take their vacations very seriously, and seem to do absolutely nothing from late July to early September. They likewise enjoy an obscenely long winter break, from lat Dec. to mid-Jan, and again from late April to mid-May. Autumn and early winter however are a flurry of activity and energy, with another burst in late winter and late Spring. I was prevented from writing much here, or even tweeting as much as I would have liked due to getting pulled into various projects and activities, but I fully plan to return to it in the new year.

There is growing interest in moving to Russia from Westerners, and honestly, even I am surprised, the more I dig into this story, how compelling the case is, once you unpack it. This is driving demand for hourly consulting on the various aspects of moving here, and I have decided to start offering that service in the new year. If this is of interest to you, get in touch with me directly here on Substack, or Twitter, or let me know in the comments.

Comment: So while the West is literally imploding before our eyes (due to the hubris, short-sightedness, arrogance, greed and corruption of pathological people in positions of power) - Russia, in spite of the many sustained attacks (by said pathological types in the West), continues to defend itself - and build !!

The Great Christmas H1B War of 2024

A heartwarming holiday migration politics miracle
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house,

Not a peep could be a heard, not even a mouse,

For every tech bro and chud, and all the Pajeets,

Were glued to their phones, waging total war with mean tweets.
For the last week the only thing anyone on Twitter - and, by extension, the rest of the Internet - has been talking about is the H1B visa.

The fun started when Sriram Krishnan, brought on by the incoming Trump administration as an Artificial Intelligence policy advisor, mused about lifting country caps on the widely reviled H1B visa. This elicited enthusiastic support from a chorus of tech CEOs, who insisted that there is a severe shortage of skilled engineers in the United States and, presumably, the West more generally, which can only be met by poaching the 'best and brightest' of the world's 'elite human capital' and importing it by the imperial ton.

Predictably - predictable to anyone who's been paying attention, which apparently does not include tech CEOs - the tech bros running with this sentiment slammed face-first into a hard granite wall of

Ukraine plans to make up the revenue by raising tariffs on local industries, the news agency has said

Ukraine's decision to cease transit of Russian natural gas to Europe will cost up to $1 billion annually, as it will no longer get fees from Moscow, Reuters reported on Wednesday. The government plans to offset the financial hit by drastically increasing gas tariffs for national industries, the news agency said.

Leader Vladimir Zelensky praised the move, calling it "a historic event" that would impose "financial losses" on Russia. He did not comment on the effects the decision could have for the Ukrainian economy.

New hate crime laws in Ireland came into force on December 31st

The provisions of the new Irish 'hate crime' law come into effect yesterday after Minister for Justice Helen McEntee signed a commencement order, the Department of Justice has said.

The Criminal Justice (Hate Offences) Act 2024 was passed by the Oireachtas in October and introduces harsher sentences for crimes where the perpetrator is motivated by hatred of people with protected characteristics.

The law seeks to protect individuals targeted due to their race, colour, nationality, religion, national or ethnic origin (including Travellers), descent, gender, sex characteristics, sexual orientation, or disability.

Gender is defined within the legislation as the gender of a person "or the gender which a person expresses as the person's preferred gender or with which the person identifies and includes transgender and a gender other than those of male and female".

Existing offences covered by the legislation include criminal damage, public order offences, assault, coercion, threatening to kill or injure, and the distribution or public display of threatening or abusive material. These crimes now become hate crimes, with harsher sentences, if hatred towards a protected group can be proven. If the hatred element is not proven in court, the remaining aspect of the charge can still lead to a conviction.

The Ministry of Interior in Gaza denounced the killings as a heinous crime. In a statement, it accused the Israeli occupation of spreading chaos and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the Strip.

The statement noted that Major General Salah and Major General Shahwan were assassinated while performing their humanitarian and national duties, serving the Palestinian people amidst catastrophic conditions caused by relentless Israeli aggression.

More than two million Indians traveled to the United States in the first eleven months of 2024 — a 26 per cent increase over the same period in 2023.

As per statistics shared by the US Embassy in New Delhi on Friday, over five million Indian citizens have nonimmigrant visas to visit the US. The US mission also said it has issued more than one million nonimmigrant visas for the second year in a row. In the past four years, number of visitors from India have increased five-fold, it said.

Comment: So the thousands of students already distorting enrollment numbers in US universities (gotta get those out-of-country tuition rates) can now just roll seamlessly into H-1B status. What a racket.

Driver flying ISIS flag rams into New Orleans crowd, killing 15

New Orleans terror attack
The FBI identified the driver as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, a US citizen from Texas, and said it is working to determine Jabbar's potential associations and affiliations with terrorist organisations.
A U.S. Army veteran flying an ISIS flag from his truck swerved around makeshift barriers and plowed into New Orleans' crowded French Quarter on New Year's Day, killing 15 people in an attack officials said may have been carried out with the help of others.

The suspect, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, a U.S. citizen from Texas who once served in Afghanistan, was killed in a shootout with police after ramming the crowd.

The attack injured about 30 other people, including two police officers wounded by gunfire from the suspect. It took place around 3:15 a.m. (0915 GMT) near the intersection of Canal and Bourbon Streets, an historic tourist destination known for its music and bars where crowds were celebrating the New Year.
