A shirtless man brandishing a knife attacked residents and a police officer on Tuesday before being shot. A police spokesman confirmed that the officer had been injured but not critically.

Footage and photos shared online show a law enforcement vehicle ramming a shirtless man in the Norwegian capital as he brandished a knife and reportedly threatened passersby.

After being flung backwards by the police car, the knifeman manages to get back to his feet and opens the passenger door of the police vehicle. At that point, he appears to engage in an altercation with a seated officer before a colleague emerges with a gun, shooting the assailant.

The head of operations with Norway's police, Torgeir Brenden, stated that the man was readying himself to stab another individual when the police car hit him. "He was about to attack people on the street when the police came and had it stopped," Brenden stated.

How thousands of migrants tried to take Belarus-Poland border by storm

Migrants Poland
© Leonid Scheglov/BelTA/Handout via REUTERSMigrants gather near a barbed wire fence in an attempt to cross the border with Poland in the Grodno region, Belarus November 8, 2021.
Reaching Europe has never been easy for those fleeing the war-ravaged Middle East, amid constant risk of drowning when attempting to cross the Mediterranean. But a stand-off in Eastern Europe has opened a safer route for migrants.

The situation began changing as relations between the EU and Belarus deteriorated after the 2020 presidential elections followed by mass protests. The result of the election was rejected by the EU, with some of Belarus' immediate EU neighbors actively supporting Belarusian opposition.

New EU sanctions came after a commercial flight with opposition blogger Roman Protasevich on board was forced to land in Minsk in late May. This was due to a reported terrorist threat, but once the plane landed, Protasevich was immediately detained by the Belarusian authorities. The alleged threat, however, was not confirmed.

Comment: Poland clearly hasn't been keen on permitting the migrant camps along their border:

Polish guards don't let migrants on Belarus border sleep
Polish border guards and police have prevented the migrants who set up a camp on the border with Belarus from sleeping overnight, directing spotlights at them and playing discouraging audio messages, RT reported from the scene.

Some 3,000 migrants from the Middle East and North Africa, who are seeking asylum in the EU, tried to cross from Belarus into Poland on Monday. But after being repelled by Polish security forces, they set up a makeshift camp along the border.

"The night wasn't calm" at the camp as Polish troops used all means at their disposal to make the people leave, according to RT Russian correspondent Konstantin Pridybaylo.

The migrants couldn't get any sleep because bright spotlights were directed at them from the Polish side and loud messages were played on repeat: "Go home. Return to your motherland. You are not welcome here."

The camp spans from 500 to 700 meters along the barbed wire separating the Polish territory, and a lot of women and children are among its inhabitants.

The people there told the reporter that they didn't want to go to Poland at all, with Germany being their ultimate goal.

Local Democrats warn national brass: Growing Republican wave is real

The Democrats of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, felt the red wave building over the summer when frustrated parents filled school board meetings to complain about masking requirements and an academic theory on systemic racism that wasn't even taught in local schools.

They realized the wave was growing when such concerns, fueled by misleading reports on conservative media, began showing up in unrelated elections for judges, sheriff and even the county recorder of deeds. And so they were not surprised — but devastated all the same — when Democrats all across this key county northeast of Philadelphia were wiped out in Tuesday's municipal elections.

"This is a bell we need to pay attention to. This is something going on across the country," said attorney Patrice Tisdale, a Democrat who lost her bid to become a magisterial district judge against a Republican candidate with no formal legal training. "The Democrats can't keep doing politics as usual."

She's among the down-ballot Democrats sending an urgent message to the national party: It's worse than you think.

The Israeli military has reportedly compiled a digital surveillance database to monitor Palestinians in Hebron in the West Bank using invasive facial recognition tech integrated into a network of cameras and soldiers' phones.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) even incentivized soldiers to compete against each other to take photos of residents "with prizes for the most pictures collected by each unit," according to the Washington Post. Soldiers were reportedly offered rewards such as a night off if they managed to take the most pictures.

Urgent action needs to be taken to prevent young people from being exposed to LGBT+ content online, a leading Russian internet group has claimed, saying targeted sites should be blocked without having to wait for a court order.

Speaking to Moscow's TASS on Monday, Yekaterina Mizulina, the director of the Safe Internet League and a member of the country's Civic Chamber, warned that the online space is becoming increasingly politicized. "LGBT propaganda aimed at children on social networks has hit colossal proportions," she argued.

According to her, "the next step in combatting gay propaganda among children, in the view of the Safe Internet League, is to introduce the pre-trial blocking of materials that promote non-traditional family values among minors."

Los Angeles mayor, Eric Garcetti, is chairman of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group - a group of 97 world cities representing a quarter of the global economy that are focused on fighting climate change. Garcetti joined the mayors of the world's other biggest cities at the UN's COP26 climate change conference. Eric Garcetti, who is in Glasgow as part of the international delegation of mayors from C40 Cities at COP26, tested positive for COVID-19 earlier on Wednesday. "He is feeling good and isolating in his hotel room. He is fully vaccinated," Garcetti's official Twitter account said.

Earlier during the COP26 conference, Garcetti was actively taking part in public events and being photographed with other participants, including American businessman and president of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group board, Michael Bloomberg, and London mayor Sadiq Khan.

In October, it was revealed that Khan is set to succeed Garcetti as chairman of C40 Cities.

NHS accused of 'lying' about Covid stats to promote vaccination

NHS chief Amanda Pritchard claimed that 14 times as many Covid-19 patients are in Britain's hospitals as this time last year. However, even the NHS itself has admitted that Pritchard's claim uses misleading figures.

Multiple news reports on Monday told the same story: Britain's hospitals are seeing "14 times more coronavirus patients than this time last year," and the country faces a "difficult winter," as people gather indoors, where the virus is more likely to spread.

Buttigieg explains how he'll deconstruct 'racist' US roadways

Flush with cash from the new infrastructure bill, US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg pledged to address the 'racism' that went into the building of America's roads and bridges, by either tearing them down or building anew.

Buttigieg spoke to the White House press corps on Monday, explaining how President Joe Biden's 'Justice40' agenda would apply to "equity" in infrastructure, delivering at least 40% of the benefits to "disadvantaged communities."

"Can you give us the construct of how you will deconstruct the racism that was built into the roadways? ...Can you talk to us about how that could be deconstructed?" asked April Ryan, formerly affiliated with CNN but currently with the African-American publication The Grio.

Comment: Buttigieg can't get a container ship to dock, so here comes his transportation deflection. Is renaming parkways or shifting roads for $16B high on your list?

Ex-BBC journalist tells RT who dominates world news

Robin Aitken
Robin Aitken talks to RT
Robin Aitken says there is an "acceptable and polite" view of world events which is dominated by media liberals. The former BBC employee warns that we must all be wary of the "hidden persuaders" that operate in all forms of news.

Speaking to RT, former BBC journalist Robin Aitken said that media consumers in the West don't always get a fair picture of what is happening around the world due to the presence of the liberal agenda behind much Western reporting.

"You've got a media culture in Britain, but this extends into other Western countries as well, where there is an acceptable and polite view of world events which is dominated by media liberals," Aikten stated.

The journalist-turned-author contended that this was very clear when it came to former US President Donald Trump, noting that there was "unanimity" in Britain's mainstream media that Trump was a "bad thing and a bad man."
