Sweeney's concession comes six days after The Associated Press called the race for Durr

Ed Durr, the New Jersey Republican truck driver who shocked the country earlier this month by defeating a powerful Democrat incumbent, appeared on the Tucker Carlson show this week and told a very funny story.

He was recounting the phone call he had with the Democrat he defeated and he even had Tucker Carlson laughing.

This guy is a keeper.

Gov. Newsom injured by Moderna Booster Shot, says source

October 27: Governor Newsom was last seen in public receiving a COVID-19 booster shot in Oakland from Dr. Mark Ghaly, secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency
California governor Gavin Newsom had an adverse reaction to getting the Covid booster and a flu shot within days of each other, leaving him with muscle weakness and fatigue, claim sources in the family's inner circle.

The governor was last seen in public on October 27, after receiving a COVID-19 booster shot in Oakland. He had gotten a flu shot on October 22.

Newsom finally appeared in a photo attending Ivy Getty's star-studded wedding this past weekend after disappearing from the public eye for nearly two weeks.

Comment: The Defender was also informed by a source, who asked not to be identified, that Newsome had suffered a vaccine reaction with symptoms similar to Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). See also:

Florida school district finally drops mask mandate after 8yo suspended 38 times for refusing to comply

A Florida school district has finally dropped its student mask mandate, following the very public journey of an 8-year-old girl who was suspended a stunning 38 times for refusing to comply with the order.

Notably, the mandate defied Republican Governor Ron DeSantis' executive order giving Florida parents ultimate control over their kids' masking habits, not administrators.

The district mask order was repealed on November 8, following a ruling from Division of Administrative Hearings Judge Newman which declared the Department of Health's Emergency Rule 64DER21-15 valid.

Comment: Good for her. Ms. Lashells has shown more spine than most of the country. Kudos to her mother for backing her up.

Wisconsin governor mobilizes National Guard ahead of Kyle Rittenhouse verdict

Democratic Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers has prepared to mobilize the Wisconsin National Guard in response to potential violence ahead of Kyle Rittenhouse's verdict.

The governor's office and the state's National Guard said Thursday that they are ready to send troops to Kenosha after the jury decides on a verdict for Rittenhouse, News 3 Now/Channel 3000 reported. Officials provided no details on the number of troops, the location or the length of the potential mission.

"As has been the case since before the trial began, we continue to be in close contact with local partners and the state will, as always, work to provide necessary support and resources," Britt Cudaback, Communication Director for Evers' office, said in a statement, according to the outlet. "The governor has already prepared the Wisconsin National Guard for mobilization."

Comment: From RT:
"We stand ready to support our communities during times of need," Maj. Gen. Paul Knapp, Wisconsin's adjutant general, said in the announcement, adding that the troops being put on "active state duty" was being effected in "close coordination" with the Democrat governor.

Closing arguments in the Rittenhouse trial are set to take place on Monday. The 18-year-old's defense rested their case on Thursday, and the prosecution failed to introduce a key, lesser charge on Friday.

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department has said it has not officially requested the National Guard's help.

In his statement, the governor warned those planning on traveling to Kenosha this week for the verdict to reconsider their plans.
"I urge folks who are otherwise not from the area to please respect the community by reconsidering any plans to travel there, and encourage those who might choose to assemble and exercise their First Amendment rights to do so safely and peacefully."
The National Guard has been deployed into the city of Kenosha multiple times in the recent past. Soldiers were mobilized in August of last year during the turbulent protests over the Jacob Blake shooting, and 500 National Guard soldiers were put on active duty in January, ahead of the announcement that officers involved in the incident would not be facing charges.

Mission accomplished: Unvaccinated Americans being banned from family parties - poll

A majority of vaccinated Americans do not want unvaccinated relatives attending their holiday parties, and almost half have cut off family members over their vaccination status, according to a new poll.

According to a survey of 2,000 Americans conducted by OnePoll this month, 63% of those vaccinated against Covid-19 "don't feel comfortable" allowing their unvaccinated relatives to attend their holiday parties, while 58% have completely broken contact with family members who refuse the jab.

Comment: There's something surreal and disturbing in the video above reporting on families being torn apart over divisive vaccine propaganda while happy-go-lucky music plays in the background.

Comment: If breaking up the family was one of the intended effects of this entire Covid fiasco, mission accomplished.

Hackers accessed the FBI's email system and sent spam to 100,000 accounts on Saturday, according to the Spamhaus Project, an email spam watchdog group.

The organization posted an example on Twitter of one of the emails that were sent to thousands of accounts.

The email bears the subject "Urgent: Threat actor in systems" and purports to come from a cybersecurity division of the Department of Homeland Security.

The email purports to warn recipients of a potential "exfiltration" — meaning a withdrawal of data — from their systems by cybersecurity expert Vinny Troia and cybercriminal group The Dark Overlord.

Thousands - including city workers, LAPD officers, and firefighters - gather outside Los Angeles city hall to protest upcoming deadline for covid vaccine mandates

L.A. vaccine mandate protests, covid protests
© ABC7
On Monday morning, thousands of citizens gathered in Grand Park outside Los Angeles City Hall to protest the city's authoritarian vaccine mandate. A large percentage of the crowd - if not the majority - were municipal workers, including members of the LAPD and LAFD, as well as employees of several other city departments.

Los Angeles' citywide deadline for its employees to get the jab is set to kick in on December 18th. Anyone who is not vaccinated by that time will be fired from their jobs unless they have obtained an exemption - and we all know how likely they are to hand one of those out... 'when pigs fly.'

The city's policy is one of the strictest in the nation, and also includes a restrictive mandate on all LA residents that kicked in on November 4th. Proof of vaccination is now required for anyone aged 12 and up to enter the majority of indoor areas, including gyms, restaurants, bars, sporting events (indoor or outdoor), and several other common day-to-day locations, which only fueled the public outrage in the lead up to this massive protest.

It took me a long time to face what I knew to be true about 9/11

William Hurt

I was born in 1950. Mom moved back to New York City with my two brothers and me in 1955, and we became New Yorkers.

I watched the South Tower "top off" in '71. Mom had worked close to the Empire State Building during the War and would mention when we were growing up how, on a foggy July day in 1945, a B-25 had flown right into it. In '78, I was watching the antenna being attached to the North Tower and remarked to my first-grade buddy that somebody "sure could run into those big things."

Many veteran New Yorkers were rubbed the wrong way by their design. Manhattan is actually a small piece of real estate. Interwoven neighborhoods. People walk there. Shoulder to shoulder. I tended to stay far away from them even though I worked in a little theatre only 15 or so blocks away for 12 years.

At age 51, I permanently moved away with my younger sons two weeks before September 11, 2001. The towers were indelible reference points to me by then. To all of us.

Eva Bartlett: Syria becoming a tourist destination is a good thing

citadela aleppo
The wonders of Damascus, Aleppo and Palmyra are finally opening up to the world again after a decade of Western funded war.

Tourism is finally, slowly, beginning to return to Syria, from Jordan and further afield. Naturally, the governments that fueled terrorism in hopes of toppling Syria's government are not happy about this development.

I haven't seen much reporting on this momentous turn of events so far. However, one article I came across mentioned "international tour agencies have started advertising trips to Syria for later this year and into early 2022," writing that tours from the UK and Germany were booking quickly.

This, albeit slow, return of tourism is a good thing-for the shattered economy and the tourists. Before the war, around 8.5 million tourists visited Syria in 2010. With its ancient cities and UNESCO heritage sites like Palmyra, Krak des Chevaliers, old Damascus and old Aleppo, among others, Syria is a historian's dream. Over the years, Syrians I've encountered frequently told me they wished tourists would return and, now, they can. Even I would like to return as a tourist, not a journalist, to just enjoy traveling across the country, taking in its amazing and ancient culture.

Protest in Austria as government locks down the unvaccinated

salzburg austria protest lockdown mandate
© Ruptly
Protesters in Salzburg, Austria's fourth-largest city, denounced a regional plan to ban the unvaccinated from leaving their homes for non-essential reasons. The government will decide whether to make the ban nationwide on Sunday.

People marched to the regional office of the national broadcaster ORF on Saturday afternoon, denouncing "compulsory vaccination" and the "lying media." More than 1,000 people took part in the protest, according to police.

A large black banner with the word 'Revolution' was carried, as well as signs reading "Freedom" and "'No' Remains 'No.'"

Comment: The government has approved these draconian restrictions. RT reports:
Austria will impose new curbs on the unvaccinated starting from Monday. The measure aims to ease pressure on hospitals and ICUs.

The lockdown will come into effect at midnight and will apply to people aged 12 and older who have not been vaccinated and have not recently recovered from Covid-19.

"This step was not easy to take, but it is necessary," Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said. "The risk for the unvaccinated people is much higher. Therefore, we are forced to take this difficult step to reduce the number of contacts."
