Thirty-one construction workers were rescued when an underground industrial tunnel they were working in collapsed in Los Angeles Wednesday night.

The workers were inside the tunnel, 300 to 400 feet below the surface, just before 8 p.m. when the collapse occurred, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

A 12- to 15-foot mound of dirt separated some of the workers from the main group in the 18-foot-diameter underground shaft in the Wilmington neighborhood.

The trapped workers managed to climb over the tall barrier to regroup with others in the tunnel.

Canadian court orders release of bank freezing records in Freedom Convoy case

Canada's Freedom Convoy, January 2022
A court-ordered paper trail may reveal the blueprint of a financial crackdown with no convictions in sight.

A Canadian court has ordered the release of documents that could shed light on how federal authorities and law enforcement worked together to freeze the bank accounts of a protester involved in the Freedom Convoy.

Both the RCMP and TD Bank are now required to provide records related to Evan Blackman, who took part in the 2022 demonstrations and had his accounts frozen despite not being convicted of any crime at the time.

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) announced the Ontario Court of Justice ruling. The organization is representing Blackman, whose legal team argues that the actions taken against him amounted to a serious abuse of power.

Comment: Blackman is only one of thousands hit by Justin Trudeau's dictatorial overreach. The damage reverberates to this day.

Who are the companies complicit in Israel's 'genocide'? The UN's Francesca Albanese provides the answer

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese has issued a report naming several US giants among companies aiding Israel's occupation and war on Gaza. Companies from other countries - from China to Mexico - are also named.

The United Nations special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) has released a new report mapping the corporations aiding Israel in the displacement of Palestinians and its genocidal war on Gaza, in breach of international law.

Francesca Albanese's latest report, which is scheduled to be presented at a news conference in Geneva on Thursday, names 48 corporate actors, including United States tech giants Microsoft, Alphabet Inc. - Google's parent company - and Amazon. A database of more than 1000 corporate entities was also put together as part of the investigation.

Comment: Albanese's report boldly states the reality, but unfortunately will just be ignored. People though, they take the actions they can.

Linda Yaccarino steps down as CEO of Musk's social media platform X

Linda Yaccarino announced on Wednesday she is stepping down as CEO of Elon Musk's social media platform after two years at the helm.

"When @elonmusk and I first spoke of his vision for X, I knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime to carry out the extraordinary mission of this company," Yaccarino said in a post on X. "I'm immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App."

Yaccarino did not disclose the reason for her departure or her next steps in the post.

Comment: ZeroHedge shares a little peek behind the curtain, (pre-)penned by the New York Times:
According to the NY Times, which had an article queued up to publish 3 minutes after her tweet - and authored by Musk-hater Mike Isaac;
Yaccarino's exit caps a tumultuous period at X, which has been remade in Mr. Musk's image since he bought the platform for $44 billion in 2022. Since then, Mr. Musk has shed three quarters of the company's employees, loosened speech restrictions on the platform and wielded X as a political megaphone. Advertisers to X were at one point spooked by the changes and the social media company's ad business declined.

In March, Mr. Musk said he had sold X, which is a privately held company, to xAI, his artificial intelligence start-up, in an unusual arrangement that showed the financial maneuvering inside his business empire. The all-stock deal valued xAI at $80 billion and X at $33 billion, Mr. Musk said. Since then, xAI has been in talks to raise new financing that could value it at as much as $120 billion.
The rest of the article essentially suggests Yaccarino's job was partly to handle Musk, who has "frequently made her job more difficult, including using expletives to tell advertisers that he would not be changing his ways."
Musk did speak his mind:

Ukrainian attacks on civilians in Donbass reflect Kiev's desperation

Kiev regime is intensifying its terrorist maneuvers against Russian territory.

The escalation of Ukrainian attacks on civilian areas in Donbass reveals not only the criminal nature of Kiev's conduct but also the regime's growing desperation in the face of the Russian forces' imminent victory. In a new chapter of this terror strategy, recent bombings hit residential neighborhoods in the cities of Donetsk and Gorlovka, killing innocent civilians, destroying essential infrastructure, and with no military value present at the sites.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, an attack that took place in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk was carried out by Ukrainian armed formations using, apparently, American-made HIMARS rockets. Fragments found at the site point to high-precision cluster missiles, which are currently undergoing technical analysis. The attack targeted a peaceful residential area with no troops or military equipment present, killing four civilians who were in a passenger car as part of a funeral procession. Nearby houses were also hit, causing significant material damage, with the number of victims possibly increasing as investigations continue.

Comment: Zelensky's desperation turns evil. Moscow doubles down.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams to Andrew Cuomo after being pushed to drop re-election bid: 'You just lost to Mamdani'

© CNBCAdams, a registered Dem, passed up the chance to run in the Democratic primary, citing his legal woes while Cuomo was easily defeated by Mamdani.
Eric Adams tore into Andrew Cuomo Monday and claimed the ex-governor had the gall to ask the mayor to leave the Big Apple mayoral race — calling it the "highest level of arrogance."

Adams revealed on CNBC that the pair of independent candidates recently had a conversation in which Cuomo asked the City Hall leader to bow out of the general election in a bid to help Cuomo beat socialist state lawmaker Zohran Mamdani in November.

But Adams said he strongly shot down that suggestion.

"I said, 'Andrew, are you that level of arrogance?' I'm the sitting mayor, the sitting mayor of the City of New York," Adams claimed he told Cuomo.

Comment: NBC New York adds:
Cuomo ran a campaign centered on his extensive experience, casting himself as the only candidate capable of saving a city he said had spun out of control. He focused heavily on combating antisemitism and leaned on his name recognition and juggernaut fundraising operation rather than mingling with voters.

Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist and member of the state Assembly, was virtually unknown when he launched his candidacy centered on a bold slate of populist ideas. But he built an energetic campaign that ran circles around Cuomo as the older, more moderate Democrat tried to come back from the sexual harassment scandal that led to his resignation four years ago.

Cuomo, meanwhile, did not remove his name from the November ballot ahead of a procedural deadline to do so and has said he is still considering whether to mount an actual campaign for the office.

In a statement Monday, Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi made it clear how the campaign feels about Adams' chances.

"Mayor Adams did not run in the Democratic primary because he knew he was anathema to Democrats and unelectable," Azzopardi said. "Nothing has changed. We do not see any path to victory for Mayor Adams."

Adams, while still a Democrat, is running in the November election as an independent. He dropped out of the Democratic primary in April after he was severely wounded by his now-dismissed federal bribery case. Though he had done little in the way of campaigning since then, he reignited his reelection operation in the days after Mamdani declared victory, calling it a choice between a "blue collar" candidate and one with a "silver spoon."

A statement from the Adams campaign responded to the Cuomo team's digs, saying "the only reason we are in this situation is because Andrew stepped down from his office and did an embarrassing run for mayor." The mayor went on to call Cuomo "selfish" and urged him to get out of the race.

"Andrew stepped down for a reason, and the public hasn't forgotten. If he couldn't finish his last term, why should voters believe he can lead the city now? He'll step aside again — because New Yorkers want progress, not the politics of the past," the statement read. "We should never forget that these same polls had Andrew up 32 points and he lost embarrassingly by 12 points."

On Monday, one former governor suggested a way to simplify the choice for voters come this fall: All candidates except one drop out, and all rally behind the one that's left.

"What we are doing is calling on the candidates who are still in the race to find a way to unite behind one of them," said former New York Gov. David Paterson, saying the crowded field gives Mamdani an advantage, as the independent candidates will split the vote.

Ten leftists charged in a Friday "ambush" on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Texas could each face sentences ranging from ten years to life in prison if convicted, authorities said Monday.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) arrested ten suspects accused of coordinating an armed July 4 attack on the building in Alvarado, Texas and shooting a local police officer in the neck, officials said in a Monday press conference and criminal complaint. The incident was the first of two shootings at Texas border facilities over the past four days, reflecting a trend of increasingly violent assaults on law enforcement since the Trump administration ramped up ICE deportations.

Says new policy to keep men out of women' s locker rooms brings 'deep sense of peace'

A former teammate of William "Lia" Thomas praised the University of Pennsylvania for agreeing to keep men out of women's locker rooms following negotiations with the Trump administration.

For the first time Monika Burzynska shared her frustrations with her alma mater for letting Lia Thomas, a male, undress and shower alongside female swimmers. Last week, the Trump administration unfroze hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funds in exchange for the Ivy League university's agreement to strip Thomas of his records he took from female swimmers.

The school also agreed to amend its policies to keep locker rooms and bathrooms single sex.

Comment: Monika Burzynska has been far kinder to Thomas than he deserves, being that he is a cheat and a gas-lighting one to boot. Justice indeed.

US lawmaker calls for ban on 'deadly weather modification'

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has announced a bill that would make the release of "weather-altering chemicals" a felony offense.

US House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who once claimed that the Democrats can "control the weather," has announced a federal bill aimed at banning what she called the "deadly practice" of geoengineering.

The move follows devastating rainstorms and flash flooding in Texas that killed at least 50 people, including 15 children, with dozens still missing as of Saturday evening.
"I am introducing a bill that prohibits the injection, release, or dispersion of chemicals or substances into the atmosphere for the express purpose of altering weather, temperature, climate, or sunlight intensity. It will be a felony offense. I have been researching weather modification and working with the legislative counsel for months writing this bill. It will be similar to Florida's Senate Bill 56. We must end the dangerous and deadly practice of weather modification and geoengineering.
Greene said her proposal mirrors Florida's Senate Bill 56, signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis on June 20. The Florida law bans geoengineering activities and carries penalties of up to five years in prison and $100,000 in fines. It also requires reporting from public airports and allows residents to file complaints through a state-run portal.

She named Representative Tim Burchett as a co-sponsor and urged support from both parties.

US food poverty doubles in 4 years - Axios

Cuts to federal aid have impacted millions of Americans, new data shows.

Food insecurity among American adults has nearly doubled since 2021, Axios reported on Sunday, citing data from Morning Consult. The striking statistic comes amid steep cuts to federal food assistance programs in the world's largest economy, fueling concerns about the welfare of millions.

US President Donald Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill" signed into law last week includes $230 billion in cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) over the next decade. The legislation imposes stricter work requirements, extending mandates to individuals up to age 64 and reducing exemptions for parents.

The proportion of US adults reporting that they sometimes or often do not have enough to eat has been steadily rising in recent years, according to the survey.

In May, 15.6% of adults were classified as food insecure, nearly twice the rate recorded in 2021. At that time, expanded SNAP benefits and an enhanced Child Tax Credit had helped reduce poverty and increase access to food.

The increase in food insecurity comes as the US economy shows signs of strength and stock markets hit record highs.

Comment: Given, over the past few years, movers and shakers like Bill Gates (largest owner) have bought up and decimated ranches and farmlands clear across America, massive numbers of food production facilities have mysteriously gone up in flames, production/supply chains have been compromised along with the massive influx at the US border...it is no surprise the US is facing poverty and starvation for a significantly higher percentage of its real (and fake) population. Let Congress go hungry...they need to experience the results first hand.
