Russian MP endorses moving UN HQ to neutral country - US has too much control through visa restrictions

A leftist Russian MP wants the UN headquarters moved to a neutral country. Addressing the UN Secretary-General, Igor Zotov says the current host - the USA - is using its position to apply leverage against its political opponents.

"The benefits of the public discussion prompted by the initiative to move the UN headquarters are obvious. It will allow nations to get a different view of the UN's place in the modern world and yet another time raise the question of fundamental problems in this organization and its adapting to modern realities," Zotov (Fair Russia) writes in his letter, quoted by popular Russian daily Izvestia.

The lawmaker suggested that the decision to move the UN headquarters is made through a broad consensus of representatives of all UN member-countries, various activists and politicians and legal and political experts.

Zotov mentioned that the current placement of the UN offices allows the United States to manipulate the work of the General Assembly through "selective" access of other nations' politicians to the working meetings of the body.

Deputy head of the State Duma Committee for International Relations, Leonid Kalashnikov, supported the idea, saying the Russian delegation to the UN could initiate the transition of the organization's headquarters to a neutral country, such as Switzerland.

Comment: Not surprising. Washington will rig the Great Game in every way possible.

Clashes near the Verkhovna Rada building in Kiev demonstrate that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko cannot control the situation in the country, State Duma's Committee on International Affairs chairman Alexey Pushkov told Rossiya 24 TV channel on Monday.

"Nationalists in Ukraine want to assert full and unquestionable power of radical forces. In this case, neither [German Chancellor Angela] Merkel nor [French President Francois] Hollande nor the Minsk agreements will not help. They [nationalists] are not going to take them into account," Pushkov noted.

Poroshenko "has to maneuver - he has to show Europe that he controls the situation in the country," Pushkov continued. "However, I think that he can manage it less and less. And today's events in Kiev demonstrate that Poroshenko does not have complete control over the situation," he stressed.

Norway spends millions in propaganda to portray Russia as aggressor

The Norwegian TV series "Occupied" narrates the story of Russia's "occupation" of the territory of Norway. The new project is reported to be the most expensive series in the history of Norwegian TV, media reported.

Norway spends an unprecedented amount of money to portray Russia as an aggressor and intimidate Norwegians with claims of an alleged security threat from the East.

According to latest data, the film's budget amounted to 90 million Norwegian kroner (11 million dollars) and exceeds the budget of Norway's latest TV project Mammon by more than double.

Russia expressed regret over the upcoming release of the Norwegian miniseries narrating a made-up story of how the Russian army occupied Norway's territory with the support of the international community.

The story tells of a "radical ecological party" which comes to power in the Scandinavian country and stops all oil and gas production. The occupiers keep the industry under control, but allow the country's residents to lead their daily lives more or less normally.

Comment: Fear and fantasy has become the content of Western 'news' and 'entertainment'. But that's what you get from weak leaders with corrupting minds.

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has called for more European countries to join airstrikes against Islamic State, claiming that bombing will relieve the refugee crisis. Australia has not agreed to an US request to expand its own operations against jihadists into Syria, however.

Bishop said that 40 percent of refugees trying to enter Europe are coming from Syria, suggesting that additional strikes would help reduce that number.


Comment: Yes, killing civilians will certainly reduce the amount of refugees. Sick psychopathic thinking.


"There's more countries can do in terms of supporting the airstrikes which are proving effective in stopping Daesh (Islamic State) from claiming territory off sovereign governments," Bishop said.

"The crisis that is unfolding in Europe will focus their attention. This humanitarian crisis is unprecedented," she added, referring to the number of asylum seekers from the Middle East. Russia's MAKS air show results in $5.3 billion of aerospace contracts

Russia's largest and most popular international air show MAKS-2015 has wrapped up on Sunday, with contracts signed worth over $5.3 billion in six days.

About 760 companies from 35 countries took part in the annual show, officially called the International Aviation and Space Salon. The show took place in the city of Zhukovsky, Moscow Region, on August 25-30. Over 404,000 visitors attended the salon.

In 2015, MAKS proved that despite the current political tensions between the host country and the Western states and the economic difficulties Russia is facing, the interest in Russia's aerospace products, technologies and the country's aerospace market remains particular.

Noteworthy Deals

Aircraft manufacturing giants, such as Boeing and Airbus along with world-famous aerospace firms were presented at MAKS, actively participating in negotiations with Russian counterparts from the industry and government officials.

The absolute majority of the deals were signed in the first three days, where the first one featured arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the second two were dedicated exclusively to business.

Mostly signed in the civilian aerospace sector, many deals had to do with Russia's Superjet-100 (SSJ-100), a short-to-medium-haul passenger plane developed by Sukhoi aircraft manufacturer.

When McKinney, TX police officer David Eric Casebolt brutally took down a teenage girl at a pool party in June, he was using a form of martial arts called Krav Maga in which he trained exclusively. These combat techniques were developed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

This is a small reflection of a larger reality that exists in U.S. law enforcement, one that helps explain the brutality and militarization that now characterizes so many police forces. Since 9/11, cops have been traveling abroad to learn from one of the most repressive and dangerous State forces in the world today—the Israeli military and intelligence apparatus.

Political commentator John Miranda recently stated that police brutality is directly linked to the training some officers receive in Israel.
"As for the increase in police brutality within the United States, I think this definitely can be pointed towards the Israeli training that the Department of Homeland Security is giving all of American police officers.

Some police officers are actually being flown to Israel for the training, not all of them but some, and then those that are flown to Israel, they come back home and they train the head officers in the training that they've gotten in Israel.

All these incidents, it is not just happening to African Americans. Police are literally being brutal with all Americans."

The US is tolerating Israel's mistreatment of US citizens of Palestinian origin, Arab-American advocates are saying. Israeli authorities have recently refused entry to several Palestinians with US passports, including an outspoken activist.

When Nerdeen Kiswani tried to cross into the West Bank at the Allenby Bridge crossing, she was interrogated for 15 hours, and then denied entry based on her"hostile behavior towards Israel."

Kiswani, a student at CUNY Staten Island and Hunter College in New York City, has crossed without much trouble in 2013 and 2014. Last month, however, Israeli border guards interrogated her about her political activism, including the involvement with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. Her US passport meant nothing to the Israelis, Kiswani told RT.

"It doesn't matter to them what passport Palestinians hold," she said.

"I think simply being a Palestinian in itself is a threat to Israel, because it challenges their narrative," said Kiswani, who believes she was singled out because of her outspoken activism.

Palestinians not involved in activism have faced similar treatment, however. George Khoury, 70, was a deacon from San Francisco on a pilgrimage, while Habib Joudeh, 62, was a Brooklyn pharmacist headed for a family wedding. Both flew into Ben Gurion international airport last month, and had to fly back at their own expense, according to James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute.

Writing in The Hill, Zogby blasted the US government's position on the issue, which he said amounted to quiet consent. The State Department's travel advisory page for Israel simply notes that "Israeli authorities consider anyone who has parents or grandparents who were born or lived in the West Bank or Gaza to have a claim to a [Palestinian Authority] ID."

Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange could have played a role in the decision by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden to seek asylum in Russia, instead of Latin America. Assange says it was he who advised Snowden to turn to Moscow for refuge.

Snowden "preferred Latin America, but my advice was that he should take asylum in Russia despite the negative PR consequences, because my assessment is that he had a significant risk of being kidnapped from Latin America on CIA orders...kidnapped and possibly killed," Assange said in an interview with The Times.

Snowden flew to Moscow from Hong Kong in June 2013. A year later, he received a Russian residence permit valid for three years, starting from August 1, 2014.

The WikiLeaks co-founder added that the ex-NSA agent "was well aware of the spin that would be put on it if he took asylum in Russia." The whistleblower faces several charges, including espionage and theft of government property, which could lead to 30 years in prison if he returns to US.

Speaking to the newspaper, Assange said that he still fears for his life as there are certain "security issues with being on the balcony."


Comment: If the powers that be wanted Assange dead, he would have died from 'natural causes' quite some time ago. The same applies to Snowden.

The British spy whose body was found padlocked inside a bag in his flat had illegally hacked into secret data on former U.S. president Bill Clinton, it has been revealed. Gareth Williams, 31, was discovered in a holdall in the bath at his London home five years ago this month, but the mystery surrounding his death has never been solved.
Today, it has been revealed the spy had dug out a guest list for an event Clinton was due to attend as a favour for a friend.

The hack breached Mr Williams' security clearance and this sparked anger among MI6 bosses as tensions rose with U.S. security services over the spy's transatlantic work, The Sun on Sunday has reported. A source said: 'The Clinton diary hack came at a time when Williams' work with America was of the most sensitive nature. 'It was a diplomatic nightmare for Sir John Sawers, the new director of MI6 at the time.' The paper has also reported that voicemail messages Mr Williams, a math genius and expert cryptographer, left for family and friends were deleted shortly after his death.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that detectives who investigated the mysterious death believe he was murdered and that his killers then broke back in through a skylight to cover their tracks. The claim centres on the revelation that part of the forensic equipment placed in the flat after the body was found was moved - despite the fact the building was under armed police guard. The theory supports his family's suspicions he was murdered by 'agents specialising in the dark arts of the secret services'.

During Mr Williams' inquest, a yoga expert failed to lock himself inside an identical bag without any outside assistance.

Comment: The body count on people connected to the Clintons is quite long. One wonders what powerful people on the guest list would warrant such damage control. What type of event was it? And who was this friend he was getting this list for?

Former Malaysian leader Mahathir Mohamad called for the current prime minister to be ousted in a speech to tens of thousands of people, who have gathered for a second day of anti-government protests in Kuala Lumpur.

The protesters want PM Najib Razak to resign over a financial scandal.

"The only way for the people to get back to the old system is for them to remove this prime minister," Mahathir told media before going to the protests in downtown Kuala Lumpur.

"And to remove him, the people must show people's power. The people as a whole do not want this kind of corrupt leader."

The protest rally, which started Saturday, has remained peaceful so far. Mahathir made a brief appearance on the first day, encouraging the people to carry on.

The Saturday rally attracted 300,000 people, according to the organizers' count. Police estimated the crowd at 25,000.

Comment: On the one hand, Mahathir has been a thorn in the side of the West: he opposed the Iraq war and initiated a war crimes tribunal against Bush and Blair. He has called for a new 9/11 investigation and has criticized Western NGOs like NED. On the other hand, the yellow-shirted Bersih movement, US-funded and led by Anwar Ibrahim, looks like typical Western-sponsored color revolution fodder. So what's going on? Is Mahathir attempting to hijack the movement and tear it away from its Western backers?
