The Ashley Madison hack exposed state and federal judges and prosecutors, federal employees, military personnel, college professors, journalists, Hollywood celebrities, lawyers, teachers and even members of the British Parliament, as inveterate adulterers. On Tuesday 25th of August, 'Rentboy', a website that facilitates gay prostitution, had its offices raided by the Department of Homeland Security, as well as the NYPD.

A business owner active in the NYC gay community told me:
"How does a high-profile company which has been reported on by the mainstream press and lampooned by countless late night show hosts, become a target for Homeland Security 18 years after its founding? Isn't there a "statute of limitations" law that a defendant can point to, stating that if the government hasn't taken action after a certain amount of time on what they perceive to be illegal activity, then that activity is essentially being condoned by the government?"
While the DHS claim that raid was conducted because Rentboy was participating in 'criminal prostitution', the real reason, undoubtedly, has more to do with the threat of the names of habitual users of Rentboy's 'services' being made public.

Suppose masters of surveillance have an enormous database of emails and phone calls from every current presidential candidate and his/her staff?

Suppose the actual details of Benghazi, Fast&Furious, the IRS-Tea Party scandal, and numerous other events are in the hands of these surveillance masters?

Suppose the secret negotiations surrounding several trade treaties, including the TPP, are known, in great detail, by the masters of surveillance?

Suppose this is not science fiction.

Comment: The NSA was designed with the aim of establishing control over everyone and everything. Like a secret society with varying inner circles, there are probably only a relative few who know and understand why the apparatus is in place and what its function truly is.

The Chinese are in the process of displacing the monopoly of the US dollar. They are dropping their US Treasury bonds, stockpiling gold reserves, and opening regional distribution banks for their own national currency. This will give them easier access to capital markets and insulate them from financial manipulation by Washington and Wall Street.

Fearing the eclipsing of the US dollar and the Bretton Woods system by a rival financial architecture the US response has been an attempt to damage the Chinese markets and increase the value of China's currency. China has responded through regulations in the market and then quantitative easing of its currency to maintain the low prices of Chinese manufactured goods and exports.

Beijing's quantitative easing is a reaction or response to the financial manipulation of Washington and Wall Street. Additionally, Washington never thought that the Chinese would respond by dumping US Treasury bonds. Instead of the hysteria about the Chinese economy, "the impending collapse of the US dollar should be getting all of the attention of investors," one US economist (Peter Schiff) has warned. Schiff's voice is one of many analysts saying that the talk about the Chinese economy faltering is exaggerated and bad spirited.

Comment: Is the dollar in immediate jeopardy of losing its world prominence to the yuan? Most central banks in other countries hold a lot of dollars Federal Reserve Notes for the capital market. The yuan is not among the next top four reserve currencies (euro, yen, pound sterling, Swiss franc). However, in its favor is the future for a number of reasons: Americans are getting poorer while Chinese are getting richer; Chinese middle class will be four times larger than the American counterpart; the Yuan is already being traded with Australia and Japan snubbing the dollar; China's total trade in goods has surpassed the US in face value; the US home market is 310 million persons while China is a burgeoning 1.3 billion consumers.

Short story: The USA prints all the money it needs to remain dominant. It is backed by nothing. "Nothing" can't remain in charge.

We may not know the whole truth, but it is generally believed that until now arms systems have not been stationed in space. Weapons of mass destruction are banned from space under the 1967 Outer Space Treaty. But the Treaty does not prohibit the placement of conventional weapons in orbit.

The issue has come to the United Nations' attention. According to general agreement, an arms race in outer space should be averted. The present US actions and programs have evoked concerns about non-nuclear arms in space. Due to the objection of some states, including the United States, a treaty has not yet been negotiated to comprehensively prevent the deployment of space-based weapons. The US argues that an arms race in outer space does not yet exist, and it is therefore unnecessary to take any actions.


Comment: What are the chances this is the truth? How else would the US answer this question?


On 12 February 2008, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the Conference on Disarmament and proposed the first ever draft Treaty on the Prevention of the Placement of Weapons in Outer Space, the Threat or Use of Force against Outer Space Objects (PPWT), developed by Russia and backed by China. Sergey Lavrov explained that the document was designed "to eliminate existing lacunas in international space law, create conditions for further exploration and use of space, preserve costly space property, and strengthen general security and arms control." Before that China and Russia had presented several "working papers" on preventing an arms race in outer space and the draft treaty refined elements from previous joint documents.

Comment: There is increasingly a lot of strangeness happening in the atmosphere and in specific locations on the planet. Some of it may be due to an uptick in meteor or electric universe activity, or be attributed to random and negligent industrial accidents. But there are question marks when it comes to the recent spate (and possible pattern) in similar incidents of chemical plants, and other strategic facilities, that have exploded without warning or apparent reason. Are there completely logical, scientific, land-based explanations for the latest string of mishaps or should we perhaps expand our thinking into orbit and look to the skies?

Russian president Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation with German chancellor Angela Merkel and French president Francois Hollande has discussed the crisis situation in southeastern Ukraine and the progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements, taking into account the meetings of the contact group and its working subgroups that took place in Minsk on August 26 and 27, the Kremlin press service said on Saturday.

"Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande informed [Putin] about the results of their recent meeting with the president of Ukraine in Berlin. Vladimir Putin expressed concern about the continuing artillery bombardments of populated localities in Donbass by the Ukrainian military, the build-up of the Ukrainian Armed Forces along the line of demarcation," the press service said. "The three leaders emphasized the need to establish a direct dialogue between Kiev and representatives of Donetsk and Lugansk and of lifting the financial and economic blockade of Donbass," the report says.

Comment: It's great to see these leaders still talking, but where is the action? Poroshenko has no desire to follow the Minsk agreements and only pays lip service when the Normandy format leaders meet.

Ukraine's President Pyotr Poroshenko congratulated Donetsk residents with Donetsk City Day on Sunday and vowed to restore the buildings and infrastructure destroyed by the Ukrainian army's shelling.

"I congratulate Donetsk residents with their City Day. We'll necessarily restore the towns and villages that were destroyed. Donbass is and will be Ukrainian," Poroshenko wrote in his Facebook account.

Donetsk residents were earlier congratulated by Head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Alexander Zakharchenko.

"I congratulate you heartily with the City Day holiday, which we're celebrating for the first time as residents of the capital of an independent state," Zakharchenko said.

"I'm convinced that Donetsk residents' industriousness and courage, their firm character and love for their home city will help restore Donetsk and soon a new stage will begin in the development of the Donbass region," Zakharchenko said.

Comment: Poroshenko vows to rebuild Donetsk but apparently only after he has completely destroyed the city.

For 18 years Jeff Halper has been on the front lines of the Israel-Palestine conflict, helping to rebuild Palestinian homes in the occupied territories demolished by Israel. As he prepares to step down as head of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD), he is publishing a new book on Israel. Halper's main conclusion is disturbing. Israel, he says, is globalising Palestine.

The former anthropology professor's wide-ranging research has forced him into an expertise he is not entirely comfortable with: the global arms industry. Halper argues that Israel is cashing in - both financially and diplomatically - on systems of control it has developed in the occupied territories. It is exporting its know-how to global elites keen to protect their privileges from both external and internal challengers.

In a world supposedly mired in an endless war on terror, we may all be facing a future as Palestinians.

Halper's book, entitled War Against the People, due out next month, suggests that Israel provides a unique window on some of the most important recent developments in what he terms "securocratic warfare". The book's central thesis emerged as he tried to understand why tiny Israel hits way beyond its weight economically, politically and militarily. How does Israel have so much clout - not only in the US and Europe but, more surprisingly in countries as diverse as India, Brazil and China?

None of the usual explanations - Holocaust guilt, the power of lobbies, even the growth in Christian fundamentalism - seemed to provide a complete answer.

Financial Times calls for abolishing cash in order to "to give more power to central banks"

The Financial Times has published an anonymous article which calls for the abolition of cash in order to give central banks and governments more power.

Entitled The case for retiring another 'barbarous relic', the article laments the fact that people are stockpiling cash in anticipation of another economic collapse, a factor which is causing, "a lot of distortion to the economic system."


Comment: People should be stockpiling cash, precious metals and all sorts of supplies in anticipation of a probable economic collapse. The only "distortion to the economic system" will be in the distorted minds of individuals who experience a sense of loss of control over individuals who would seek to protect themselves and persevere through the turmoil to come.


"The existence of cash — a bearer instrument with a zero interest rate — limits central banks' ability to stimulate a depressed economy. The worry is that people will change their deposits for cash if a central bank moves rates into negative territory," states the article.

Complaining that cash cannot be tracked and traced, the writer argues that its abolition would, "make life easier for a government set on squeezing the informal economy out of existence."

Colin Powell's former Chief of Staff claims US run by 0.001% of American population

US politics is determined by about 400 people with a combined wealth of trillions of dollars who control government decision-making from the backstage, Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff to former US Secretary of State Colin Powell, said in an interview with Radio Baltkom.

Thus power is concentrated in the hands of about 0.001 percent of the US population, Wilkerson told the Latvian radio station, stressing that it is great inequality.

According to the former official, US foreign policy has generated catastrophic results, particularly in the Middle East. Wilkerson told Radio Baltkom that the 2003 US invasion of Iraq disrupted the balance of power that had been maintained in the Persian Gulf for over 50 years.

Comment: While this admission by Wilkerson isn't really a revelation, it is good to hear from former officials confirming what has been known throughout history. Now who hands those 400 wealthy people their marching orders?
