'Listen to your heart, not to private calls': Campaign launched to help agents to quit intel services

Image
You are an intelligent agent full of remorse? Feel ashamed at listening to private conversations? Want to quit but don't know how? Now there is an exit - a private group has launched a campaign to help intel agents quit spying and start a new life.

"Right now thousands of people work in the shadows of the intelligence community. They don't ask questions, they follow orders... But what happens when you see something you cannot forget? You realize that the system you are part of is chipping away the democracy?" says a YouTube promo from the Intelexit group.

In lockstep with the Devil's Brigade: Canadian military seeks integrated force with U.S.

Soldiers in a plane
© Massoud Hossaini/Associated PressU.S. special forces personnel sit in a military helicopter over Kabul, Afghanistan, in November 2014. CBC News has learned that the Canadian military has been working on a plan to create an integrated force with the U.S.
The Canadian military has been working on a plan to create with the United States a bi-national integrated military force to deploy to hot spots around the world.

The so-called Canada-U.S. Integrated Forces would be the result of an agreement between the two countries under which air, sea, land and special operations forces would be jointly deployed under unified command, outside Canada.

The forces would operate in the same manner as those controlled by the North American Aerospace Defence Command (Norad), but would be used on expeditionary operations, and not in defence of the homeland, according to a source.

Comment: Like the wimpy little kid who ingratiates himself to the schoolyard bully for protection, Canada has once again proven itself a cowardly and insignificant player on the world stage, ready and willing to align itself with America's global hegemonic war against imaginary terrorism.

UN is an 'entirely corrupt body' - Pink Floyd's Roger Waters to RT

Roger Waters

British recording artist, Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame, told RT that US media is entertainment used to sell soap powder and doesn't give Americans the news of the world. He also claimed that the UN is a corrupt body, with the US controlling most voting decisions.

Waters was promoting his newly released documentary, titled Roger Waters The Wall, when the subject of the UN came up. He noted that he spoke to the UN Human Rights Committee in 2012 when there was a vote to recognize the idea of a Palestinian state and "raise the status of the Palestinian people to an observer nation state from non-observer status."

"That was a tiny step in the right direction," he told RT. "There were only nine votes against and 130 votes in favor of passing the resolution. The votes against were, of course the United States, Israel, the Marshall Islands. It is ever thus."

Waters said the UN is an interesting example of the "pretense of decision making," but it should nevertheless exist and that is an important institution. However, he said that having five Security Council members with veto power is "a redundant notion."

"There can be things that are fundamentally important politically - particularly in the Middle East where everyone is fighting everyone else as hard as they can all of the time - which can never actually get the support that they deserve, or a lot of the things can't ... unless the United States decides that they can."

Homeland Security report finds Americans being radicalized by ISIS at 'unprecedented' rate

The United States has "largely failed" in its effort to keep Americans from joining the Islamic State extremist group in Iraq and Syria, and the government lacks a national strategy for combating the trend, a bipartisan congressional report stated.

Released on Monday, the report found that the federal government has generally failed to keep more than 250 Americans from leaving the country to join Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS/ISIL) since 2011. Overall, nearly 30,000 people from around the world have traveled to the region in the same time frame.

"Despite concerted efforts to stem the flow, we have largely failed to stop Americans from traveling overseas to join jihadists," the House of Representatives' Homeland Security Committee concluded. "Of the hundreds of Americans who have sought to travel to the conflict zone in Syria and Iraq, authorities have only interdicted a fraction of them."

Comment: From the report:
Key Finding 5: Ultimately, severing foreign fighter flows to any conflict zone depends on eliminating the problem at the source and preventing the emergence of terrorist sanctuaries.
This situation is due to the mess the US created and now has the rest of the world wondering how to deal with it as Russia steps up to the plate to get this problem back under control.

Surprise: Even Western media concedes Putin stole Obama's thunder at UN General Assembly

The Western media has assessed President Putin's speech at the UN General Assembly, mostly comparing it to that of President Obama; the comparisons turned out not in favor of the American head of state. Here are just some of the evaluations.
"Vladimir Putin is back โ€” and stealing Barack Obama's thunder on the world's stage," read the article on CNN's politics website.
"Putin's message at the UN podium Monday was a simple one: US interventions and unilateralism have backfired in the Middle East, and it is time to try something new," the website added.

Russia and Putin, the nonexistent threat. Who is the aggressor; the US or Russia?

NATO Bases
© Small People Against Big Government
Russia is fast becoming our latest bogyman with neocons, war hawks, and a complicit corporate media, all beating the preliminary war drums, rapidly convincing a duped public that the Russian threat is real. The record shows the Russian threat is nonsense, but the record also shows there is a threat, not from Russia, but from the US.

A couple of years ago the US was foaming at the mouth anticipating being able to bomb Syria into oblivion, claiming as pretext Assad was using chemical weapons. Once again the US was using the tired argument that it was necessary to save the people by bombing them. Ask the "people" of Libya, and Iraq, and Yemen, if they felt saved by being bombed? We laid waste to Libya with 77 days of bombing and devastated that country, along with the complete destruction of Iraq, and now, with our invaluable assistance and weapons, we are doing likewise to "save" the people of Yemen.

Our thirst to bomb Syria a few years ago was foiled by those evil Russians, who stepped in diplomatically and got Assad to get rid of all Syria's chemical weapons. Those nasty Russians would not let us have our bombing and prevented it by using diplomacy. Is that why they now are our enemy?

Naturally we would not be stopped, and found the pretext to bomb Syria anyway. Using ISIS as an excuse, we are currently bombing Syria trying to usher in the same kind of anarchy we brought to Iraq and Libya. Corporate media, shill mouthpiece of the US government, would have you believe that the US is part of a world coalition that is bombing Syria, when the fact is 99% of the bombing is done by the US alone. In any case the end game is to reduce Syria to chaos, death, destruction, and violence, which is well under way. Those nasty Russians are again interfering by sending weapons to support the Assad regime. It appears that our thirst to bomb, has forced the nasty Russians to draw a line in the sand. They will support Assad and not tolerate his overthrow by the US.

Spain's Prime Minister refuses to discuss Catalan independence despite separatist parties election wins

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has once again shrugged off Catalan independence plans after separatist parties won regional elections. However, he said that he is willing to collaborate with the next Catalan government, but only "within the law."

Rajoy's center-right government had repeatedly blocked the Catalan referendum on secession in court, adding that plans for independence are "nonsense."

"There are many things that can be discussed. But while I am the president of the government, I will not discuss the unity of Spain, the national sovereignty or the freedom of all Spaniards," Rajoy said on Monday after pro-independence parties claimed victory in the Sunday regional parliamentary elections.

Comment: The people of Catalonia have been clamoring for independence for some time and it now appears after these elections that the pot may boil soon, despite the stonewalling from Madrid.

Lavrov: Wherever US used force bypassing UN, countries suffered

Image
The US-led coalition is bombing Islamic State in Syria with no UN Security Council mandate or invitation by Damascus. Historically, whenever Washington used force with no UN consent, they did great harm, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told RT.

RT: President Putin has met President Obama. It was a much-anticipated meeting. Do you know if they agreed to work as part of one coalition?

Sergey Lavrov: Well they did not discuss coalitions in the classical sense of the word. What they did discuss was the possibility for the United States and Russia to cooperate closely on the most burning issues of the day - Syria first of all. And there we all agreed that our common goal is to defeat ISIL, not to allow ISIL to establish a Caliphate, which they are planning across a huge territory. They have already established themselves in large parts of Syria and Iraq, where they have introduced their inhumane rules and laws. And both Russia and the US are absolutely determined not to allow them to succeed.

We presented our view. And President Putin explained that we believe that we have to be pragmatic, and reasonable, and rational. And if this is the case than all those who detest ISIL, who fight ISIL must coordinate.

Are you ready for the two-headed coalition against terror?

Showdown at the UN. A much-hyped face off after two long years. The ultimate "you talking to me?" geopolitical moment.

And then Russian President Vladimir Putin said it's imperative to form a broad international coalition against terror - especially of the ISIS/ISIL/Daesh kind - similar to the WWII anti-Hitler drive.

And US President Barack Obama, predictably, blinked.

So, in the end, "they didn't discuss coalitions in the classical sense of the word," according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

For the media pack/vulture coalition, Lavrov also had to specify, once again, what Moscow is doing in Southwest Asia: "Both governments of Iraq and Syria received [this] assistance from us. We sent our military specialists to help use this equipment and we believe that all those who fight on the ground against the terrorist groups ISIL and others must be coordinated. Not necessarily under a single command."

Catalonia head charged with abuse of power over last year's independence referendum

Image
© Andrea Comas / ReutersCatalan President Artur Mas greets supporters of Junts Pel Si (Together For Yes) after polls closed in a regional parliamentary election in Barcelona, Spain, September 27, 2015.
The head of the regional government in Catalonia has been indicted for unconstitutionally calling a referendum on independence from Spain last year. This comes just two days after his party and other secessionist forces won a regional election.

Recently, Artur Mas has promised his fellow Catalans that if pro-independence parties secured the majority in the regional parliament, independence from Spain would be a done deal. And so, on Sunday, the foundation of that promise was attained: absolute majority was secured, although, the parties only won 48 percent of the vote.

Despite the gains, Mas now has been summoned by Catalonia's Supreme Court (TSJC) for pushing through a non-binding referendum last November, even after Spain's Constitutional Court explicitly forbade him doing so.

Comment: How this mess will be straightened out is anybody's guess. The people had their say but will anything be done? Look as an example to Greece's bailout referendum and what good it did.
