Hillary Clinton nearly called rival Donald Trump her "husband" on Friday in an embarrassing slip-up that drew laughs from the crowd and Twitterverse.

The flub came as she addressed the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists in Washington, DC.

"I hope you will compare what I'm proposing to what my husb— . . . my opponent is talking about," Clinton said, urging the reporters to scrutinize Trump more closely.

The correction, swift as it was, didn't go unnoticed.

Audible laughs could be heard in the auditorium as Clinton came close to calling Trump her spouse.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the machete attack in the Belgian city of the Charleroi on Saturday, in which two female police officers were injured, a news agency affiliated with the terror group has reported.

Two officers were assaulted, not far from their police station, by a man heard shouting "Allahu Akbar" ('God is Great' in Arabic), the authorities said.

The perpetrator was shot by a third officer on site and was taken hospital, but later died of his wounds.

He was identified as a 33-year-old Algerian, who had resided in Belgium since 2012, and was known to police for criminal offenses, but not for terrorist links.

Korea: Who is the provoker?

In an earlier article, we have already quoted paragraph 49 of resolution No. 2270, in which the UN Security Council acknowledges the importance of maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and welcomes any efforts to avoid any actions that might lead to increased tension.

We are referring to it now, because very often, the mass media talks about "DPRK provocations", representing the actions of the South as a mere response to them. But let us see which side contributes more to the increasing tensions.

Let's start with the North. As examples of provocations, South Korean media often uses propaganda videos showing attacks on the US base in Guam by Musudan missiles, which should indicate that the North possesses real capabilities of launching missiles against the enemy, wherever it might be. Other videos show the testing of anti-ship and anti-tank missiles, the destruction of an American aircraft carrier, a B-2 strategic bomber and a MV-22 Osprey convertiplane, as well as the launch of a ballistic missile from a submarine. On June 24, a video showing a computer-simulated nuclear attack on the US emerged.

Aleppo once again the focal point of the war on Syria

On Thursday I judged that the U.S.-supported al-Qaeda attack in southwest Aleppo was failing.
Despite the failure of their main thrust, al-Qaeda and its allies launched a third phase attack towards Ramouseh district a few hundred meters further north. A tactical mistake as the attackers failed to build a decisive Schwerpunkt. ... Local fighting still continues on the front lines but the government positions seem secured and the attacking force is slowly getting ground down.
That judgement was premature.
aleppo
The Jihadis retreated after their first three attacks but renewed their efforts with fresh troops on the next day. This time they concentrated on one focal point. Another frontal assault throughout Friday failed, but a fifth major strike followed in the darkness of Friday night. A total of five vehicle-borne suicide bombs broke the defense line of the Syrian government forces and Jihadi forces stormed into the wide area of the Artillery Academy. The compound is a hard to observe mixture of small open fields, garages, office and quarter buildings. The sparsely manned defense lines were overwhelmed or circumvented. By Saturday night most of the academy was in the hand of the Jihadis. A small corridor to the Jihadi held east-Aleppo was opened but is not secured.

Comment: SANA provides some updates from the Syrian side. In short, the fighting is intense, and at this point it's impossible to guess what direction it will take:
A military source announced that the Air Force has isolated with fire control the operations area in the surroundings of the military academies in southern Aleppo in a way that supports the army forces that are clearing the posts the terrorist groups earlier infiltrated. The Air Force has intensified strikes and managed to curb the terrorist groups' movement in southwestern Aleppo and cut off with fire control the routes leading into the city.

The military source also mentioned that the Air Force hit and destroyed reinforcement and supply convoys sent from areas in Idleb and Hama to support terrorist groups in Aleppo. Tens of vehicles for terrorist organizations were destroyed in army airstrikes in al-Zirbeh, al-Rashidin, Orum al-Kobra, Khan al-Assad, Maaret al-Nouman and Saraqeb in the direction of Aleppo.

Earlier, the source told SANA that the army units defending the military academies to the south of Aleppo city, backed by the air force and artillery, have inflicted heavy losses on the Takfiri terrorist groups which renewed attacks along the axis of the academies with large numbers. The army units, backed by the Syrian Air Force and Artillery, engaged in fierce clashes against the attacking terrorist groups, according to the source, who noted that a number of terrorists were killed and many of them were injured in the clashes.

SANA reporter in Aleppo pointed out that thousands of terrorists, most of them mercenaries, attacked the axis of the academies with car bombs at midnight. The reporter added that scores of terrorists were killed in the clashes and others were injured and a large number of their vehicles and equipment were destroyed.

The terrorist groups also fired tens of rocket shells on al-Ramousa area and on al-Hamadaniyeh neighborhood in Aleppo City, leaving a number of civilians dead or injured and causing huge material damage.

George Soros: "Let's Call the Terrorists a Taxi!"

Billionaire hedge fund mechanic George Soros has a finger in every political pie there is. If there is a crisis on our world, it's a safe bet he's had a hand in it. This is not news to most readers, but the intricacies of Soros's operations surely are. Here is a first in a series of articles to illuminate a real arch villain. Today we will focus on Soros and the American presidency.

In America a surreal presidential race is winding toward its ultimate crescendo. In a symphony of unbelief, a people of a once great nation are serenaded by two bitterly sour notes droning in the air. "Hillary for president" leaves people of any real moral fortitude screaming inside their heads, as if they've been blasted with a shrieking air raid siren. As for Donald Trump's bid for America's highest office, jittery liberals and conservatives alike shudder at the thought of "The Donald's" first state of the union address. Neither major candidate is what anyone would call "presidential". Election 2016 is going exactly as manipulators like George Soros planned. Another presidency is set to be owned, lock-stock-and-barrel, by the biggest thieves in the world.

ISIS is the true enemy of the West; The West's feud with Russia is a distraction

ISIS
© Unknown
Whilst ISIS inspires and encourages terrorism which is killing Western civilians, the West's political leaders recklessly distract their people by talking up a non-existent threat from Russia

As Dickens said of the French Revolutionary period, 'it was the best of times, it was the worst of times'. Those sentiments could easily be applied to the political and military realities of the western world in 2016.

Never in modern history have western states faced so few threats from other states. Not a single state has any short term desire to wage a war on a western state. Yet simultaneously, international terrorism, including terrorism sponsored both directly and indirectly by western allied states is at an all-time high.

ISIS fills 'vacuum of power' in Libya left by US - VA senator tells RT

A Virginia state senator told RT that the US campaign against the Islamic State in the coastal city of Sirte, Libya is nothing but "a political ploy," and that the White House is embarrassed at the "enormous vacuum of power" it created, which allowed terrorists to gain footing.

On August 1, the Pentagon reported that its troops conducted precision airstrikes against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) "at the request of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA)."

The department's press secretary Peter Cook stressed that the strikes had been authorized by President Barack Obama.

Recapturing Sirte from IS would be a significant advance for the Libyan forces. Located halfway between Tripoli and Benghazi, the city of Sirte has been one of the terrorists' strongholds since August 2015.

The international coalition led by Saudi Arabia will intensify fighting against rebels in Yemen, Saudi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Ahmed Asiri said on Sunday.

The coalition will carry on military operation in Yemen to support the country's government amid resuming rebels' attacks after settlement negotiations were halted, Asiri was cited by Hadath broadcaster, as saying.

On Saturday, another round of inter-Yemeni peace talks held in Kuwait under the UN brokerage ended with the government and Houthi rebels failing to come to an agreement.

And now it begins: Austrian, German party leaders compare Turkey's post-coup crackdown to Hitler power grab

erdogan

The leaders of Germany's liberal Free Democrats and Austria's far-right Freedom parties have both drawn parallels between the Turkish president's post-coup crackdown and the abuse of power which allowed Adolf Hitler to exert Nazi rule.

A failed military coup attempt to oust and potentially kill elected Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan resulted in a hardline response, with the Turkish parliament approving a national state of emergency. Since July 15 a number of institutions, including media outlets, schools and hospitals, have been forced to close. Some 60,000 public officials have been sacked and thousands of Turkish passports canceled, as authorities persecute those who supported the coup which was allegedly plotted by an outside force.

In an interview with Bild am Sonntag, FDP leader Christian Lindner said he sees parallels between the Turkey coup attempt and the Reichstag fire in February 1933 which was used by the Nazi Party as a proof of alleged communist plot against the government.

Comment: Erdogan is being given the "Milosevic treatment". Relentless propaganda spread by the feckless mainstream media is attempting to lay the ground for another attempt at regime change in Turkey. The Empire of Chaos desperately needs a more compliant puppet in this crucial strategic area, especially one who will not look favorably on Russia.

PLO slams Israel's plan to seize more private Palestinian land

The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) says Israel is after stealing the entire Palestinian territories through confiscating more private land in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement released on Saturday, the PLO's National Bureau to Defend Land warned of the "dangerous" consequences of a plan by the Tel Aviv regime to resettle evacuees from the illegal Amona settlement outpost in the central West Bank to a nearby privately-owned piece of Palestinian land.

The PLO said the "unprecedented" measure is aimed at "swallowing" more Palestinian land.

Recently, Israeli media reported that a committee tasked with relocating Amona settlers has proposed leasing the privately-held Palestinian properties near the outpost to the Israelis for three years, with possible extension.
