If the fact that Neocons are now behind Hillary Clinton confuses you, read this

neocon prez

What's a Neocon to do?

Bill Kristol is downright despondent after his failed search for an alternative to Donald Trump. Max Boot is indignant about his "stupid" party's willingness to ride a bragging bull into a delicate China policy shop. And the leading light of the first family of military interventionism — Robert Kagan — is actually lining up Neoconservatives behind the Democratic nominee for president of the United States.

At the same time, the Democrats have become the party of bare-knuckled, full-throated American Exceptionalism. That transformation was announced with a vein-popping zeal by retired general and wannabe motivation screamer John Allen at the Democratic convention in the City of Brotherly Love. During his "speech," a few plaintive protests of "no more war" were actually drowned-out by Democrats chanting "USA-USA-USA!"

This is the same Democratic Party often criticized by Kagan & Co. as the purveyors of timidity, flaccidity, and moral perfidy. It's not that Democrats haven't dropped bombs, dealt arms, and overturned regimes. They have. And they've even got the Peace Prize-winning Obama-dropper to prove it. But unlike enthusiastically belligerent Republicans, the Dems are supposed to be the party that does it, but doesn't really like to do it.

But now, they've got Hillary Clinton. And she's weaponized the State Department. She really likes regime change. And her nominating convention not only embraced the military, but it sanctified the very Gold Star families that Neocon-style interventionism creates. It certainly created the pain of the Khan family who lost their son in the illegal war in Iraq. But the Dems didn't mention that sad fact as they grabbed the flag away from the Republicans.

Washington smackdown: Turkey turns to Moscow for help

Putin and Erdogan
© UnknownHas Erdogan realized that it is a dead end cozying up to the 'Empire of chaos' and that Russia represents a real alternative?
"Turkey is slowly leaving the Atlantic system. That is the reason behind this coup. That is the reason why NATO is panicking. This is much broader and much bigger than Erdogan. This is a tectonic movement. This will affect Turkish-Syrian relations, Turkish-Chinese relations, Turkish-Russian relations and Turkish-Iranian relations. This will change the world."

— Yunus Soner, Deputy Chairman Turkish Patriotic Party
"It is becoming clear that the attempted putsch was not just the work of a small clique of dissatisfied officers inside the armed forces; it was rather the product of a vast conspiracy to take over the Turkish state that was decades in the making and might well have succeeded."

— Patrick Cockburn, CounterPunch
On August 9, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saint Petersburg The two leaders will discuss political developments following the recent coup-attempt in Turkey, tourism, and the launching of Turkstream, the natural gas pipeline that will transform Turkey into southern Europe's biggest energy hub.. They are also expected to explore options for ending the fighting in Syria. Putin will insist that Erdogan make a concerted effort to stop Islamic militants from crossing back-and-forth into Syria, while Erdogan will demand that Putin do everything in his power to prevent the emergence of an independent Kurdish state on Turkey's southern border. The meeting will end with the typical smiles and handshakes accompanied by a joint statement pledging to work together peacefully to resolve regional issues and to put an end to the proxy war that has left Syria in tatters.

ISIS publishes trophy photos of latest batch of captured US weapons

isis captured US weapons
Over the weekend, militants linked to Islamic State released photos that purport to show weapons and equipment that belonged to American soldiers and were captured by the group in eastern Afghanistan.

The photos, which came to light on Saturday, show an American portable rocket launcher, radio, grenades and other gear not commonly used by Afghan troops, as well as close up views of identification cards for a U.S. Army soldier, Specialist Ryan Larson. In an emailed statement, Brig. Gen. Charles Cleveland, the deputy chief of staff for the U.S.-led mission in Afghanistan, said the soldier had not been captured and is currently with his unit.

However, contrary to report that the soldier may have been captured by ISIS, the U.S. military command in Kabul denied any such suggestion, saying he "has been accounted for and remains in a duty status within his unit." American special operations troops have been fighting alongside Afghan forces in a renewed offensive against militants who claim allegiance to Islamic State in Nangarhar Province, which borders Pakistan.

The Democratic Party is fighting to protect what it calls the "Obama coalition" of African-Americans, Latinos, and young people by trying to overturn certain voter legislation, with the help of billionaire George Soros.

Marc Elias, described by the Washington Post (WAPO) as a "Democratic superlawyer," has been bringing a number of cases to battleground states where Republicans have tweaked laws to supposedly work in their favor.

For the 2016 election, 15 states introduced new voting restrictions, ranging from strict photo ID requirements to early and same-day voting limits.

At the same time, however, both Democrats and Republicans continue to oppose laws that could reform the system and open it up to more independents and candidates from other parties.

Elias, who rose to prominence in 2008 representing Minnesota Senator Al Franken in a recount which lasted eight months, approached Soros with proposals to challenge voting restrictions in states around the country, WAPO reports.

Flashback Best of the Web: Paris strikes astonishing partnership with secret ISIS sponsor tied to Hillary Clinton

The City of Paris has struck a corporate partnership with French industrial giant, Lafarge, recently accused of secretly sponsoring the Islamic State (Isis or Daesh) for profit.

Documents obtained by several journalistic investigations reveal that Lafarge has paid taxes to the terror group to operate its cement plant in Syria, and even bought Isis oil for years.

Yet according to the campaign group, SumOfUs, Lafarge is the corporate partner and sand provider to the City of Paris for this summer's Paris-Plages urban beach event. The project run by Office of the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, will create artificial beaches along the river Seine in the centre and northeast of Paris.

Lafarge also has close ties to Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Apart from being a regular donor to the Clinton Foundation, Clinton herself was a director of Lafarge in the early 1990s, and did legal work for the firm in the 1980s. During her connection to Lafarge, the firm was implicated in facilitating a CIA-backed covert arms export network to Saddam Hussein.

Killary's bloody footprints in Latin America

Vampire Hillary Clinton graphic
The Latin American card is one of the Clinton's main trump cards in the presidential campaign. As a candidate, she enjoys the exclusive support of immigrants from Latin America living in the United States. She promises to ease conditions for migrants and does not seek to build a high wall on the border with Mexico, contrary to the campaign promises made by Donald Trump. But does she really deserve the support of Hispanics? To answer this question, it is necessary to look at the previous work of Mrs. Clinton in Latin America.

At least as the US Secretary of State, she could improve relations with Latin America, but a reality check shows otherwise: Hillary Clinton was a firm supporter of rabid US imperialism. Successful and failed coups, death squads, drug wars and destabilization of entire countries, collaboration with corrupt politicians, and information war against people of Latin America, are Clinton's legacy in the region.

The US has delivered a new shipment of weapons and military equipment to Lebanon in an attempt to bolster the Middle Eastern nation in countering extremists and militant groups from neighboring war-torn Syria.

The shipment provided to the Lebanese army by the US includes 50 armored vehicles, 40 artillery pieces, and 50 grenade launchers. This new $50 million package brings US military aid to Lebanon to $220 million this year, Reuters reports, citing the US ambassador to Lebanon, Elizabeth Richard.

The US handed three military helicopters over to the Lebanese army in March, while the UK promised to provide training for Lebanon's Land Border Regiments. The UK is to spend $30 million to train Lebanese troops in special "urban counterterrorism" techniques over three years.

Israel's UN Ambassador Danny Danon addressed Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon warning him that Hamas is "exploiting" the organization, following an arrest of an UN employee in Gaza on terrorism related charges, local media reported Tuesday.

According to Israel's internal security service, Shin Bet, Wahid Abd Allah Borsh, 38, an engineer in the UN Development Program (UNDP) was arrested July 16 on charges of assisting the terrorist organization. During the interrogations, he told that in 2014, he was approached by Hamas requesting him to organize his work in UNDP in the way to benefit Hamas the most.

"This is not an isolated incident, but a worrying trend of systematic exploitation of UN bodies by Hamas terrorists," Danon said, as quoted by the Jerusalem Post newspaper.

Earlier in the day, Borsh was formally charged with assisting Hamas.

Comment: It seems Israel is really reaching on this case to somehow discredit the UN.

At least nine people have been killed in a Saudi-led coalition airstrike on the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. The assault is reported to be the first in recent months, and adds to the growing civilian death toll during the prolonged operation against Houthi forces.

Civilian deaths occurred in an airstrike on a potato chip factory in the Nahda district of Sanaa, Reuters reported, citing local medics who said at least nine people were killed, including women. Al Jazeera puts the death toll at 14.

The attack also led to the suspension of all flights bound for Sanaa International Airport for 72 hours.

The bombing came after Saudi-led coalition spokesman General Ahmed Asiri announced that the airstrikes against Shiite Houthi militia had resumed and led to the closure of Sanaa airport, saying fighter jets had hit military targets "around" the city, according to AFP.

Bulgaria's change of heart may revive South Stream pipeline project

© Sergey Guneev / Sputnik
Bulgaria has apparently changed its mind again on the energy project to deliver Russian natural gas to Southern Europe. According to Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borisov, Moscow and Sofia could restart the South Stream negotiations.

The Prime Minister said the two countries will create working groups to restore energy cooperation. Among other projects on the table is the Belene nuclear power plant, suspended in 2009.

Brussels opposed the South Stream pipeline, claiming the project violated the European Union's Third Energy Package. The ruling stipulates that the same company, in this case Russia's Gazprom, is forbidden to both provide and transport gas. The pipeline was intended to transport gas from Russia under the Black Sea to Bulgaria, then to Serbia and Western Europe.

In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow is still interested in the project, but Gazprom could not proceed due to EU roadblocks.

"How could we spend €9 billion just to have all this metal sink into the sea, without having secured the right to enter Bulgarian territory? But of course, as soon as we realized what was happening, we shut down any further work. We did not abandon the project, we were stopped from implementing it," said Putin.

Comment: Bulgaria looks to be another "EU" country that sees which way the wind is blowing. But having burned Russia in the past, Bulgaria will need to provide firm guarantees before Russia considers anything.
