Obama lectures China on international law in stunning display of hypocrisy

Obama funny face
As China looks to assert itself internationally, US President Barack Obama is urging Beijing to be a good global citizen and show more responsibility. China should stop "flexing muscle" in disputes and show reciprocity, he told CNN.

"What we have said to the Chinese - and we've been firm consistently about this - is you have to recognize that with increasing power comes increasing responsibilities," Obama told CNN's Fareed Zakaria.

The interview, which is to be aired Sunday, comes ahead of Obama's last presidential visit to China for the annual G20 summit that unites the world's strongest economies. The event is an especially big deal for China. Not only is it the second time the summit convenes in Asia, it is China's very first time hosting.

Comment: Obama lecturing others on international law is so ridiculous it hardly needs a comment. The inmates are in charge of the asylum.

Israel's lapdogs: California lawmakers to block companies boycotting Israel from receiving state contracts

A bill heading to California Governor Jerry Brown's desk could prevent companies that boycott Israel from contracting with the state government. Activists for Palestine and others call the legislation a violation of freedom of speech.

Companies that participate in a boycott of Israel could be excluded from receiving contracts worth $100,000 from the California state government if AB 2844 becomes law. The California State Assembly passed the bill on Tuesday in a 69-1 vote, with 10 abstaining.

While AB 2844 claims that "it is the intent of the Legislature to ensure that taxpayer funds are not used to do business with or support discriminatory actions against any individuals," and would also include banning companies with "any policy that they have against any sovereign nation or peoples recognized by the government of the United States" from receiving these contracts, the only country listed in the version of the bill that passed is Israel.

Investigative journalist Max Blumenthal explained to RT that the bill requires companies seeking these lucrative contracts "to certify under penalty of perjury that they are not boycotting Israel."

Ukrainian neo-Nazi leader: We could all be convicted as war criminals

Translated by J. Arnoldski

The militants of Ukrainian nationalist formations involved in the war in Donbass could be convicted by an international tribunal as war criminals. This was recognized by the leader of the Svoboda party, Oleg Tyagnibok, live on NewsOne.

"Tomorrow we will have very big problems with international courts, because I have no doubt that, after this conflict, after this war, Moscow will take our today's heroes to court, because according even to current legislation, they don't have the right to bear arms," Tyagnibok stated.

According to Korchinsky, the head of the interior ministry, Arsen Avakov, gave the order to distribute weapons to people (who were not supposed to obtain them according to law) at the very beginning of the tragic events of 2014 in Donbass.

Comment: It sure is convenient for them to blame Russia for their arming legions of despicable neo-Nazis - all they have to say is that they were 'defending the fatherland' from a non-existent 'Russian invasion'. But if these thugs were ever to see a real court of justice the evidence has steadily been mounting against them:

The realities of hybrid war: Debunking US analysis of Russian forces

Russia Wants War US bases

The Art of War, A Modern Theory: a reply To Nicholas Fedyk's "Russian "New Generation" Warfare: Theory, Practice, and Lessons for U.S Strategists".

The friction of war is both mutable and immutable. The art of deception in war is both covert and overt. As the art of war is also a science, it is therefore always given to change, for war in itself is part of the dialectical experience in the human condition that has arisen since the early dawn of civilization. Therefore, to talk or write about the "New Generation" of warfare, or so-called small wars or hybrid wars as is currently fashionable to write about in our times, can be of some importance to us only if we place such theory and practice of war into the context of the immediate history of the epic period we are living through. In reading the military theory analysis of Nicholas Fedyk called Russian "New Generation" Warfare: Theory, Practice, and Lessons for U.S. Strategies, I thought that for the many 'worthwhile' ideas that a reactionary government like the United States could learn from a revived nationalist Russia, there are also dangerous pitfalls for both nation-states if one believes that such a theory or theories on manipulating whole populations can lead to ultimate victory in a propaganda war or on the battlefield without what Fidel Castro called "the weapons of morality".

Putin: Reforms of IMF system most important issue on G20 Summit agenda

Russia believes that the innovation-driven growth and reforming of the international financial architecture are the most interesting issues on the agenda of the upcoming G20 summit in China, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Saturday.

The Russian president added that the issue of trade barriers removal should also be discussed at the summit.

"I would like to draw attention to two points of great interest that correspond to the goals of Russia and Russia's Far East region, and they have been formulated in a proper way by our Chinese friends. The first is innovative development, we consider it extremely important.... The second part is the international financial architecture. We have recently seen the expansion of quotas for the developing economies in the International Monetary Fund, but we believe this is not enough, bearing in mind the growing weight of the developing economies," Putin said at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

The upcoming G20 summit is the "last chance" for Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin to try to resolve the Syrian and Ukrainian crisis, two issues that have seriously damaged Russia-US ties.

For United States President Barack Obama, the G20 summit that will kick off on September 4 in Hangzhou, China, is the last chance to resolve the crises in Syria and Ukraine, two issues that "have empoisoned" Obama's two presidential terms, an article on the French news website La Croix read.

Since Barack Obama became president in 2008, his relations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin have been complicated.

Putin slams 'revisionist WWII history' at Eastern Economic Forum

At the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on September 1st, Russian President Vladimir Putin once again slammed attempts at revising the history and results of World War II. In an interview with Bloomberg, Putin said that reviving territorial disputes could lead to unpredictable consequences and are tantamount to "opening Pandora's box."

"If someone wants to start revising the outcomes of the Second World War, then let's try discussing the topic. But then we'd have to talk not so much about Kaliningrad as the eastern lands of Germany and all the way up to Lvov, which was part of Poland, and so on and so on. There's also Hungary and Romania there too," Putin said.

He continued: "If someone wants to open this Pandora's box and start working with it, then, please, flag in hand, go ahead."

Putin's statement was made ahead of a special meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, part of which will involve discussing the Russian Kuril Islands disputed by Japan.

The secret global court and why corrupt politicians and corporate criminals are desperately pushing for TPP

secret court
Obama needs to ensure he gets well compensated after leaving office for a job well done protecting, defending and further enriching the global oligarch class. This is precisely why he's so adamant about passing the TPP during the upcoming lame duck session of Congress, when he knows "representatives" who no longer face reelection can be coerced or bribed into voting for this monumental public betrayal.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) ins't really a free trade deal, it's a way for global oligarchs to consolidate, grow and protect their enormous wealth. The investor-state dispute settlement system (ISDS) is perhaps the most nefarious and objectionable aspect of the deal, with this shadowy court system being used to accomplish the following for the super rich and powerful:

1) Eliminate sovereign risk from their investments.

2) Earn money by scouring the world for potential ISDS "opportunities" and then speculating on them.

3) Escape prosecution from criminality on a global basis.

The whole thing is absolutely disgusting and epitomizes all that is wrong and unethical about the world today. As such, stopping the TPP from passage is probably the most important near-term challenge ahead for all of us who want to make the world a better place (or at least prevent it from getting much, much worse).

The pot calling the kettle black: Israel accuses World Vision of supporting Hamas

World Vision
World Vision HQ in East Jerusalem
Israel has indicted the Gaza director of World Vision, one of the largest charities in the world, accusing him of siphoning off tens of millions of dollars earmarked for the people of Gaza and sending it instead to the Hamas militant group.

Mohammed El Halaby was arrested June 15 and charged on Thursday with "providing support to Hamas."

World Vision said in a statement that it will investigate the allegations against Halaby. But the Christian charity, which focuses on children, said its operations in Gaza have been audited and that "based on information available to us at this time, we have no reason to believe that the allegations are true."

Comment: Whether Mohammed El Halaby is guilty of siphoning money to Hamas remains to be seen, but what is clear is that this is a cruel and cunning method by Israel to further isolate the Palestinian people, by trying to make it near impossible for charitable organizations like World Vision to lend aid and support without being severely strained in doing so.
