French delegation set to expose Western lies about Syria targeted by US backed 'rebels' in Aleppo

french delegation
© Fares ShehabiThe French delegation, led by Thierry Mariani, meeting with officials in Aleppo.
In a clear breach of the Russian brokered ceasefire, US backed FSA (Free Syrian Army) division, Company 23, fired upon Aleppo airport. The shelling took place just prior to the departure of a French delegation, led by French politician, Thierry Mariani, after a fact finding trip to the recently liberated industrial, second capital city, of Aleppo.

According to Fares Shehabi, independent, Aleppo MP and head of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, the missiles were fired from an area next to Khan Touman, 8km away from the airport, in a deliberate act of terror against the French delegation. The leader of this group of so called "moderates" is Hassan Rajoob, a colonel who had previously defected from the Syrian Arab Army.

Fares Shehabi had been meeting with the three French parliamentarians, Thierry Mariani, Jean Lassalle & Nicolas Dhuiq, and other intellects and journalists who made up the delegation. Shehabi told 21st Century Wire that they had been due to leave via Aleppo airport at 14:00 on the 7th January 2017. The shelling took place just prior to the flight in what appeared to be a deliberate targeting of the delegation. The flight was delayed a further 3h 3o minutes and the airport was kept in complete darkness in order to ensure safe take-off without further attacks.

Comment: The Russian-led coalition's success in driving out terrorism in Aleppo is collapsing the Western narrative about Syria. As Adam Garrie notes in The Duran:
However, because President Holland's policies towards Syria have been shambolic, hypocritical and ultimately a total failure, it is important that views expressed by members of the French delegation to Aleppo have undermined the confused narrative emanating from the Élysée Palace.

Among the delegation was Thierry Mariani a member of The Republicans party of Nicholas Sarkozy and current French Presidential frontrunner (along with Marine Le Pen), Francois Fillon. In a statement reported by RT, Mariani said:
"If the Russian army wasn't here for a few months, Syria would have had a chance of falling into the hands of terrorists. Fortunately, Russians came here, and this changed the [direction] of the war".
Omit the words, 'had a chance' and replace them with the word 'inevitably' and one has an accurate statement from a front-line French politician, something that one could be forgiven for not thinking could happen outside the realm of fiction.

All of this shows that the Western narrative constantly reiterated by Obama, Hollande and Merkel is failing to win adherents. Mariani's statement indicates he realises that terrorists are not 'moderates', that the legitimate government of Syria is the only force capable of rebuilding parts of the country devastated by conflict, and that the legal Russian aid that President Assad requested is a key reason underlying why the country didn't fall into terrorist hands.

Netanyahu bails on elite gathering in Davos, could attend Trump's inauguration instead

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has canceled plans to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, amid rumors that he may instead attend the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump.

On Sunday, Netanyahu's office released a statement announcing the cancelation of the trip, but did not include an explanation. The forum is taking place from January 17-20, and coincides with the inauguration.

Advisors for Trump have reportedly been courting the Israeli leader, the New York Post reported on New Year's Eve. A source confirmed to the paper that they were hoping he would attend either the ceremony or meet with the President-elect prior to the event.

"There's a plan for Trump to meet with Netanyahu," a source close to the transition team told the Post. "They're talking all the time. And Netanyahu is talking about possibly going to the inauguration."

Comment: A former State Dept. aide has also stated that Trump has promised Netanyahu will be the 2nd foreign leader invited to the White House, so it certainly looks like Netanyahu is doing all he can to try and curry favor with the incoming administration.

'Tanks do not create peace': German politicians send warnings over NATO's buildup at Russian borders

Tanks

German politicians have raised concern about thousands of NATO troops and equipment, along with hundreds of tanks, that have been sent to Poland and countries bordering Russia in what has been touted by Washington as "defense against Russian aggression."

"It does not help us if tanks will be going up and down on both sides of the border," Brandenburg's leader and SPD party member, Dietmar Woidke, told RBB. "I hope everyone will keep calm."

"I believe that despite all the difficulties, we should seek dialogue with Russia," he added on Thursday, warning that relations with Moscow could worsen even further.

Germany's ruling CDU party called Woidke's standpoint "strange," with parliamentary faction leader Ingo Senftleben saying the operation "takes place within the framework of the contractual arrangements of NATO and at the explicit request of Poland."

NATO's buildup in Europe also came under fire from Germany's Die Linke party. "Tanks do not create peace, anywhere," Christian Görke stressed in a statement, RBB reported.

Comment: January 20th can't come soon enough.

French MPs visiting Aleppo note difference between mainstream coverage and real situation on the ground

A group of French lawmakers, including Thierry Mariani from the Republicans (LR) party, his fellow LR member Nicolas Dhuicq and former member of the Democratic Movement party Jean Lassale, recently visited Syria.

During their trip, the lawmakers visited Aleppo and had an opportunity to see the actual situation in the city recently liberated from terrorists.

Aleppo, Syria's second largest city which used to be the country's economic capital, has been mired in the civil war since August 2012 with the western part of the city has been controlled by the Syrian Army while the eastern part was occupied by various Islamist and rebel groups, including al-Nusra Front.

On December 16, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Syrian Army's operation to liberate militant-controlled eastern Aleppo was completed, however, several hotbeds of militants' resistance remained. On December 22, the last militants left eastern Aleppo, thus the Syrian Army gained full control over the city.

In an exclusive interview with Sputnik French, Mariani pointed out the difference between mainstream media coverage and the real situation on the ground in Aleppo.

A Royal Armor Medical Corps brigadier is to be court-martialed over allegations of fraud and neglect of duty. He will be the first senior officer to be tried by the British Army since 1952.

Charles Beardmore was at one time the most senior UK army officer in Germany and managed a budget worth millions. Recently Beardmore was posted to a new senior army role in London.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has refused to say which job the accusations relate to, although a Daily Mail source said allegations of fraud may be involved besides the publicly stated neglect of duty.

Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akıncı.
Cypriot President and Turkish community leader meet in Geneva for first direct talks in 43 years prior to conference many see as "last and best hope" to settle intractable conflict.

Direct talks take place today in Geneva between Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akıncı in what have been called "the best and last chance" to achieve a settlement of the decades long conflict which has divided the island nation.

The direct talks between Anastasiades and Akıncı are preparatory for a formal conference commencing in Geneva on 12th January 2017, which will bring not only these two leaders together but also the so-called "guarantor powers" - Greece, Turkey and Britain.

Britain is participating in the talks as Cyprus's former colonial power and as one of the guarantors of Cyprus's independence and territorial integrity following Cyprus's 1950s independence war against Britain.

Erdogan expects relations with US to improve once Trump takes office

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday he expected that the relations between Turkey and the United States would gain pace after US President-elect Donald Trump assumed office on January 20.

"In particular, I believe that we will gain momentum regarding regional issues through common understanding," Erdogan said, speaking at the 9th Annual Ambassadors' Conference in Ankara, as quoted by the Daily Sabah newspaper.

Erdogan noted that Turkey expected the United States to support the country in counterterrorism issues, particularly, the fight against the Daesh, outlawed in many countries, including Russia, and the so-called Fethullah Gulen Terrorist Organization (FETO), which Ankara blames for the July 2016 coup attempt, according to the newspaper.

Relations between the two countries began deteriorating due to Washington's support for Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) forces to counter the Islamic State in Syria and its refusal to hand over Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, FETO's leader.

Santelli 'Meets The Press': 'You picked sides on election night, I've never seen you so unhappy'

Rick Santelli's appearance on Chuck Todd's 'Meet The Press'
Rick Santelli's appearance on Chuck Todd's 'Meet The Press'.
Rick Santelli's appearance on Chuck Todd's "Meet The Press" this morning struck one too many nerves of reality.

Standing alone against the wall of establishment media, Santelli began...
"What's going on here is really so politically driven... where was all this uproar in June when the DNC emails were hacked...this wasn't made an issue because it would have put the emails in Hillary's server right in the thick of it... that's why this went under the radar - this is all tied together"

The shocked looks on the faces on Andrea Mitchell, Chuck Todd, and David Brooks was only bettered by their repeated efforts to refocus the narrative on Putin "as the devil and journalist-murderer" and Trump "as a puppet" but Santelli was not done with them...

"I never saw you so unhappy as on election night... you picked sides, everyone picked sides.."

...which was met stunning levels of cognitive dissonance from Chuck Todd "picked sides? who picked sides? Where?", and Andrea Mitchell "That's not true Rick, that's just not true... let's get back to the facts here," who then repeated (once again) that the "Russians have weaponized hacking... they did it in Ukraine, they're doing it in Germany now..."

"people in charge of intelligence are political as well here," Santelli chimes in, "let me see the 'Russian missiles on the Cuban island' picture... that's proof, Trump needs to see that.. the hearings are nothing but Kabuki theater."
