Trump pulls U.S. out of "non-binding" Paris Climate Accord โ€” Here's why he was right to do it

Far-Left Democrats and so-called "environmentalists" who still believe the global warming hoax are furious at President Donald J. Trump for keeping his campaign pledge to withdraw the United States from the "non-binding" Paris Climate Accords signed onto by the Obama administration.

But perhaps after they calm down and allow their blood pressure to return to normal, they can take a rational, reasoned look at why the president made his decision; if they afford him that courtesy, there is no way they can conclude that his decision was wrong.

In making the announcement from the White House Rose Garden Thursday afternoon, Trump stated that he felt obligated to withdraw from the agreement โ€” which should have been sent to the U.S. Senate by Obama to be ratified as a treaty, because that's what it was, in both style and substance โ€” because it is "a bad deal" for American workers, taxpayers and companies.

Trump also knocked the cost of the agreement โ€” which will rise to some $450 billion a year, much of which would have to come from the U.S. โ€” while major polluters who are also signatories to the deal do not have to comply with the accords' emissions limitations for more than a decade. Meanwhile, the U.S. has to comply immediately.

Commanding General ousted as Philippine army struggles to crush Daesh insurgency

Lt. Col. Ray Tiongson of the Philippine Army claims Daesh's invasion of Marawi City and the spiraling security crisis the sudden attack spawned is "not the reason" Brig. Gen. Nixon Fortes, the general tasked with combating hostile elements on the island of Mindanao, has been let go.

However, an unnamed source told Reuters the decision was indeed driven by the commander's failure to marshal troops to Mindanao island's Marawi City despite substantial intelligence indicating the Maute criminal syndicate and foreign jihadists were assembling there.

If true, the lapse isn't the only unforced error anti-Daesh forces in the Philippines have committed over the past few days.

Putin clearly explains what forced North Korea to develop nuke program

The abuse of power in global politics leads to problems like the situation around North Korea, adding that Pyongyang defends itself from external pressure, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

Force used by the West with regard to some countries in the Middle East and North Africa has led small countries like North Korea to acquire nuclear weapons to protect themselves, he said.

"Let us agree on a unified understanding of norms, fundamental principles of the international law and adhere to these rules. Because as long as there are none, as long as the rule of the strongest, the fist law, is being implemented, we will encounter problems that we are now witnessing in North Korea," Putin said during a SPIEF-2017 session.

'Take a pill': Putin rightly accuses US of hysteria and destabilizing the World

Russian President Vladimir Putin has harshly criticized U.S. foreign policy over the last two decades as an "abuse of power" that has destabilized the Middle East and the entire international order.

Putin also used an annual economic forum in his hometown on June 2 as a platform to mock U.S. probes into ties between Russian officials and U.S. President Donald Trump's campaign, suggesting suspicions of collusion were a sign of "hysteria" and advising Americans to "take a pill."

Speaking at the question-and-answer session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum moderated by U.S. journalist Megyn Kelly, Putin also accused the United States of conducting "crude and systematic interference in Russian affairs for years," as well as promoting what he described as an antigovernment coup in Ukraine -- a reference to pro-European protests that pushed Russia-friendly President Viktor Yanukovych from power in Kyiv in 2014.

No surprise: IAEA says Iran meeting requirements of nuclear deal

Iran flag
Iran is complying with the 2015 nuclear deal it struck with major powers, news agencies report, citing an assessment by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

News agencies on June 2 said the UN atomic watchdog's quarterly assessment indicates Iran's stock of low-enriched uranium is well under the limit mandated in the accord.

Low-enriched uranium can be used for peaceful means but when enriched further can be weaponized.

The IAEA report also said Iran's stock of heavy water, which can be used in reactors that can produce weapons-grade plutonium, was 128.2 tons -- just below the 130-ton limit.

The Trump administration intends to "erase history" by burying the 2014 Senate torture report, leading Democrats said, after federal agencies began sending back their copies to the Senate Intelligence Committee at the request of its Republican chairman.

Senator Richard Burr (R-North Carolina) told Reuters that his staff is retrieving the copies from executive branch agencies, and will "enact the necessary measures to protect the sensitive sources and methods contained within the report."

According to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-California), so far the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the CIA's inspector general have returned their copies of the report. Copies of the report are also in the possession of the FBI and the Justice, State and Defense Departments.

Tories accused of spreading 'fake news' attack ads against Labour

The Conservatives have been accused of spreading fake news after one of their propaganda videos was edited to suggest Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn had seemingly refused to condemn the IRA.

The full version of the video shows the socialist saying: "I condemn all the bombing by the loyalists and the IRA."

The Tories' electoral campaigning has been criticized before for its aggressive targeting of left-wing voters and its attacks on the Labour leader.

Facebook and YouTube users living in marginal constituencies have been bombarded with 'dark ads' designed to draw away the Labour faithful using an election loophole that allows parties to target voters online with very little regulatory oversight.

EU mulling economic measures against US after Trump's withdrawal from Paris agreement, may move closer to Russia

The EU is considering taking economic measures in response to President Trump's decision to pull the US out of the Paris climate agreement. These could include halting trade talks, forging closer ties with Russia, and imposing heavy carbon taxes on US exports.

In a tit-for-tat retaliation, former EU Parliament President Martin Schulz has pledged to respond to Donald Trump's pullout by refusing to engage in transatlantic trade talks.

"If the US drops out of the climate agreement... for European trade policy, this means that American production sites don't need to abide by the climate goals," Germany's center-left chancellor candidate said on Thursday, speaking at the WDR Europa Forum in Berlin.

"That is a competitive distortion against which we can only protect ourselves by saying: Whoever wants to have access to our market - and the European market is the biggest market in the world - needs to respect the European standards," he added, as cited by Politico.

A new Operation Inherent Resolve report has upped the official civilian death toll of the US-led aerial bombing campaign in Syria and Iraq by more than a third, confirming 484 civilian deaths - while activists claim the figure is several times higher.

"To date, based on information available, CJTF-OIR [Combined Joint Task Force] assesses that, it is more likely than not, at least 484 civilians have been unintentionally killed by Coalition strikes since the start of Operation Inherent Resolve," a statement released on Friday reads.

The coalition analyzes each individual report and bases its official civilian death toll only on those it finds "credible."

According to the coalition, in the period between August 2014 and April 2017, 21,035 airstrikes were carried out, which could be broken down into 44,330 separate engagements.

So much for the apology: Vile propagandist Kathy Griffin hires lawyer, now claims she is the victim

kathy griffin
Her apology clearly didn't last long.
Kathy Griffin, the so-called comedian who made an obscene image glorifying the ISIS style beheading of the President of the United States, has hired a lawyer and both now outrageously claim that she is the victim of the situation. Such remarks simply do not correspond to reality.

At such a moment it is necessary to repeat my calls for her arrest for making criminal threats against a public figure and publishing an obscene image which according to reports deeply disturbed President Donald Trump's 11 year old son.

Kathy Griffin has perversely gone on the offensive saying that Donald Trump's family are "using their power to target her", although she and her lawyer Lisa Bloom have provided no evidence to support this outrageous claim.

Comment: A sure sign of toxicity is when a person is unwilling to see his or her own shortcomings and uses everything in their power to avoid being held accountable for them. Such people are incapable of feeling shame, guilt or remorse. Their brains simply lack the circuitry to process such emotions. This allows them to betray people, threaten people or harm people without giving it a second thought.
