The White House has sent condolences to Iran after at least 12 people were killed in terrorist bomb and gun attacks in Tehran, but then lectured that "states that sponsor terrorism risk falling victim to the evil they promote."

"We grieve and pray for the innocent victims of the terrorist attacks in Iran, and for the Iranian people, who are going through such challenging times," the White House said in a statement in response to the Tuesday attacks. "We underscore that states that sponsor terrorism risk falling victim to the evil they promote."

Comment: Washington and Europe should know all about that.

The Iranian Interior Ministry has confirmed Iranian nationals who joined the Islamic State were the attackers who blew up bombs and opened fire Tuesday at the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Khomeini's shrine in Tehran, killing at least 12 and injuring dozens, according to Ruptly.

Saudis demand total surrender but Qatar will not fold

The map shows Qatar having moved from the Arab coast of the Gulf to the Persian one
The map shows Qatar having moved from the Arab coast of the Gulf to the Persian one.
Many people believe that Qatar will soon give in to recent Saudi demands and threats. I first thought so too but have changed my opinion. Qatar will likely hold out way longer than anyone assumes and fight more intensive and much longer than foreseen.

The Saudi "young leader" has now given Qatar 24 hours to submit to 10 demands. These include (unconfirmed) the dismantling of Al Jazeera, breaking off of all diplomatic relations with Iran and (the Israeli demand of) ending all support for the Muslim Brotherhood and especially Hamas. The Saudis threaten with a military invasion.

But Qatar is not like Bahrain where 1,000 Saudi troops could easily take over to save a dictator from a mostly unarmed uprising of his people. It has way more resources and capable allies on its side and recent news shows that it knows how to use them.

SOTT Focus: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Islamic Terrorism and the Anglo-American Establishment

Theresa May Saudis
'Lovely doing war business with you, your supreme headchoppyness'
The 'coincidences' and connections have been coming thick and fast over the past few days. Blink and you'll miss them, so I recommend keeping an eye on Sott.net's daily analysis.

First we had the London bridge terror attack, just two weeks after the Manchester bombing and just a week before what are perhaps the most crucial UK general elections in a generation.

In the last few days we were treated to the farcical spectacle of Qatar being 'outed' as a jihadi terrorism sponsor by arch jihadi terror sponsor, Saudi Arabia. That's pretty much the same as McDonalds accusing Burger King of selling junk food, so there's obviously more to this 'spat' than meets the eye (or the mainstream media are reporting). Coming just a couple of days after the jihadi terror attack on London Bridge, the timing of the Saudi accusation was apparently meant to convey the message, 'blame Qatar, not us!'

The Senate Intelligence Committee has published fired FBI Director James Comey's prepared remarks the day before his testimony on Capitol Hill about his ousting by President Donald Trump.

Thursday morning's open hearing will be Comey's first public comments since he was abruptly fired by Trump on May 9. The seven-page text of Comey prepared remarks was released by the Senate Intelligence Committee on Wednesday afternoon.

Comey's testimony outlined all of his meetings with Trump, the first of which was a January 6 briefing at Trump Tower in New York City on the Steele Dossier. Ahead of the meeting, Comey discussed with the FBI's leadership team "whether I should be prepared to assure President-Elect Trump that we were not investigating him personally," Comey wrote, noting the bureau did not have an open counterintelligence case on him.

US President Donald Trump has offered to host a Washington meeting to discuss the Gulf crisis, the White House has said.

The offer was made in a phone conversation on Wednesday with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani "if it would help the parties resolve their differences," according to a statement.

During the conversation, Trump emphasized the necessity of maintaining the stability of the Arabian Gulf and stressed the "importance of all countries in the region working together to prevent the financing of terrorist organizations and stop the promotion of extremist ideology."

"The president underscored that a united Gulf Cooperation Council is critical to defeating terrorism and promoting regional stability," the White house said in a statement.

National Security Agency (NSA) Director Mike Rogers and Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Dan Coats have both denied that US President Donald Trump put pressure on them to intervene in investigations into possible collusion between the Kremlin and the Republican's election campaign.

At a Senate intelligence hearing Wednesday, Rogers poured cold water on press reports that the president had personally appealed to him to "downplay the Russia investigation."

Asked by Senator Mark Warner about the allegations, the NSA chief referred to such media reports as "theoreticals."

MI5 protected the ISIS recruiter who radicalized London Bridge attackers, Theresa May complicit with 'open door' policy

From collusion to blowback

The terrorists who rampaged across London on the night of 3 June were part of a wider extremist network closely monitored by MI5 for decades. The same network was heavily involved in recruiting Britons to fight with jihadist groups in Syria, Iraq and Libya.

Police have confirmed that Khuram Shazad Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba were the three terrorists shot dead after participating in a brutal van and knife attack in the London Bridge area.

According to press reports, both Butt and Redouane were longstanding members of the proscribed extremist network formerly known as al-Muhajiroun. After 9/11, the group operated under different names such as Shariah4UK, Muslims4Crusades and Islam4UK. Originally founded by Lebanese firebrand, Omar Bakri Mohammed, who was banned from returning the UK after the 7/7 attacks, the network was later run by Bakri's deputy, Anjem Choudary.

Thought police: UAE threatens Qatari sympathizers with jail terms up to 15yrs after diplomatic rift (UPDATE: Saudi Arabia too!)

UAE subjects may be punished by a jail term of up to 15 years for expressing sympathies for Qatar, the Emirati Attorney General warned after key Arab states cut ties with Doha. Even tweeting criticism against the UAE's anti-Qatar stance may be punished.
"Strict and firm action will be taken against anyone who shows sympathy or any form of bias towards Qatar, or against anyone who objects to the position of the United Arab Emirates, whether it be through the means of social media, or any type of written, visual or verbal form," Counselor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi told Arab media on Wednesday, the Gulf News reported.
The Federal Public Prosecution office said the UEA law provides a punishment of three to 15 years in jail to anyone threatening the interests, national unity or stability of the Arab nation. They can also be fined at least 500,000 AED ($135,000).

Comment: It's almost as if the Gulf nations are deliberately trying to make themselves look like backward, totalitarian losers. Well, good job, guys, you're succeeding!

Update: Saudi Arabia has jumped on board: prison sentences of up to five years for "showing sympathy to Qatar". Note to the Saudis, you guys are a laughingstock. Losers with a capital L.

Black Magic

Pointing out the obvious: Radical Islamists are dangerous

radical islamists terrorists
It is foolish to think that being raised by parents who have participated in terrorism cannot play a role in influencing a child to eventually become a terrorist. Yet, one of the most important details about the terrorist who killed 22 innocent concert goers in Manchester, just a few days prior to the death US foreign policy strategist Zbigniew Brzezinski, is being overlooked. The terrorist, Salman Abedi, was the child of Libyans who had worked with the United States and the United Kingdom against the Islamic Socialist Government of Moammar Gaddaffi.

Abedi's father had fought against Gaddafi as part of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group. NATO bombs had backed them up on the battlefield, and US made weapons had been supplied to them in order to topple the socialist government and reduce Libya to chaos and misery. Before conducting his ruthless terrorist attack, and in the process losing his own life, Abedi himself had gone to his parent's home country to coordinate with the victorious Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, a strong force in Libya now that the Islamic Socialist government has been demolished.

It appears that Salman Abedi was yet another radical islamist who took up the family business. Like so many other recent terrorists, he was the child of extremists backed by the United States to topple independent governments. Though Brzezinski is now dead, the impact of the policies he engineered and mastered will live on.
