A CNN report claiming that Russia is arming the Taliban terror group in Afghanistan is part of an American disinformation campaign in which the broadcaster is being used as a propaganda tool, said Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman.

"We stated repeatedly that a disinformation campaign has been launched in the US media over alleged arming of Taliban by Russia and so on," Zakharova told Govorit Moskva radio station.

"CNN is a reliable propaganda tool in this game by the relevant US agencies," she added.

Earlier Tuesday, CNN released videos of Taliban factions in various parts of Afghanistan claiming to be in possession of weapons that they said originated from Russian government sources.

The House of Representatives has voted overwhelmingly to pass new sanctions against Russia, and require congressional approval before US President Donald Trump can ease or remove existing ones. The bill also includes sanctions against Iran and North Korea

Lawmakers voted 419-3 to approve legislation is seeking to punish Russia over a host of issues, including its alleged meddling in the 2016 presidential election, its support for the Syrian government and alleged support for the rebels in Ukraine, as well as Crimea's accession to Russia.

If signed into law, the measure will effectively cement the existing sanctions against Russia by requiring the administration to get permission from Congress before lifting or easing the economic penalties against Moscow.

"It empowers Congress to review and disapprove of any sanctions relief," said Rep. Ed Royce (R-California) on the House floor, ahead of the vote.

Multi-billion pound projects to upgrade and renew Britain's nuclear arsenal have been branded "unachievable" by the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) in its report to the Treasury and Cabinet Office.

The watchdog's report, which was picked up by the Ferret investigative website, found that major projects relating to the nuclear deterrent are poorly managed, over budget, and subject to technical difficulties.

Those projects are the £1.7 billion (US$2.2bn) nuclear reactor manufacturing program and the program to build four nuclear-armed and seven nuclear-powered submarines at a cost of £31 billion and £9 billion respectively.

Russian senators have passed an address to the president asking him to introduce restrictive measures against Poland in response to a recently approved bill ordering the destruction of monuments to Soviet soldiers in the country.

"We are asking you to order federal bodies of executive power to submit their complex proposals on the possible introduction of restrictive measures in bilateral cooperation with the Republic of Poland as well as against Polish lawmakers who initiated the amendments to the April 1, 2016 law that bans the propaganda of communism and other totalitarian regimes, and other persons and companies responsible for it," reads the address to Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was passed by the Federation Council on Tuesday.

One of the senators, Oleg Morozov, noted in comments that the reciprocal restrictions can come in the form of a visa ban for certain Polish citizens.

"The sanctions can touch upon various actions concerning other people. Someone is bound to make particular decisions concerning the razing or dismantling of the monuments. They can also be made by some institutions, some power bodies or some particular officials - all of them can be subject to sanctions," he said.

Morozov also reminded of the proposals to move the monuments to Russia instead of destroying them.

Vietnam has reportedly stopped oil drilling in the disputed part of the South China Sea after China's Foreign Ministry urged for exploration to be halted.

The area being developed by Spanish oil firm Repsol in cooperation with Vietnam is inside a large area of ocean claimed by China, which it says overlaps its oil concessions.

The exploration in Block 136/3 started mid-June licensed to Vietnam's state oil firm, Spain's Repsol and Mubadala Development of the United Arab Emirates.

Repsol has been ordered to leave the area, according to a BBC source, just days after the company had confirmed the existence of a major gas field.

Anti-Iran policy leaves US high and dry amid international support for nuclear deal

The Saudi and Israeli lobbies are pushing the US president to rip up the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran, but Trump will find it difficult to do so given the strength of international support for the deal, Middle Eastern expert Vladimir Sazhin told Sputnik.

The US has added 18 Iranian entities and individuals to its sanctions list, alleging that they support Iran's ballistic missile program, the Iranian military or Iran-based criminal organizations. The US "remains deeply concerned about Iran's malign activities across the Middle East which undermine regional stability, security, and prosperity," State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said July 18.

The US alleges that Iran "continues to test and develop ballistic missiles," in defiance of a UN resolution and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) agreed to with six world powers in 2015, which put limits on Iran's nuclear program in return for the lifting of sanctions.

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized the nuclear deal with Iran and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that the new sanctions are a violation of the JCPOA and seek to undermine the accord. "They have been talking about 'scrapping the deal,'" he said. "Then they came to realize that would not be globally welcome. So now they are trying to make it impossible for Iran to benefit."

Comment: As usual, the paranoid US stands on the wrong side of prosperity and cooperation. Instead of creating a better world, one in which it could take part, prosper from and enjoy, the US brings on bad will with useless and baseless antagonism -- Israel's puppet hand within the glove.

Obama's CIA Director: If Mueller is fired, coup against Trump to be initiated

MuellerTrump
© slate.comSpecial Counsel Mueller • President Trump
Brennan is pushing for a coup to take place...in the United States of America. If there was any doubt that the Deep State US intelligence agencies were working to overthrow President Trump, then look no further than former Obama CIA Director John Brennan's statements at the Aspen Security Forum, moderated by CNN's Wolf Blitzer.

John Brennan called for a soft coup against President Trump, should special counsel Mueller be fired. Brennan urged US government officials to refuse to follow the president's orders, if Mueller is dismissed, as those orders would be "inconsistent" with the duties of the executive branch.
"I think it's the obligation of some executive branch officials to refuse to carry that out. I would just hope that this is not going to be a partisan issue. That Republicans, Democrats are going to see that the future of this government is at stake and something needs to be done for the good of the future."

The full interview at the Aspen Security Forum is below, with the Trump "coup" statements at the 43 minute mark...
Full transcript of the event.

Comment: Quite frankly it sounds like bully blackmail...fire Mueller and we will defy the administration, resort to treason and come after you.
