Defense Secretary Jim Mattis criticized Pentagon officials for spending millions of taxpayer dollars on private label uniforms for soldiers with the Afghan National Army, highlighting a report that found the camouflage uniforms were ineffective.

In a July 21 memo to the senior officials in charge of delegating resources to support the Afghan National Security Forces, Mattis said the Pentagon's "cavalier" decision to spend $28 million on forest camouflage-patterned uniforms for Afghan National Army soldiers over the next 10 years was "ineffective and wasteful."

"I expect all [Defense Department] organizations to use this error as a catalyst to bring to light wasteful practices - and take aggressive steps to end waste in our department," Mattis said, according to the Military Times.

Mattis added that the decision "must not be seen as inconsequential" and urged the Pentagon to learn from their mistake.

"I highlight this report because it reveals two truths about our line of work. [First] our every action contributes to our larger mission," Mattis continued. Second, "our procurement decisions have a lasting impact on the larger defense budget."

Western 'fake news' media fails again: Russian military denies reports of airstrike in Syria's East Ghouta safe zone

The Russian reconciliation center in Syria denied Tuesday the reports of an airstrike on July 24 in the de-escalation zone in eastern Ghouta.

The agreement on operation of a de-escalation zone, envisaging full ceasefire, came into force in eastern Ghouta on Monday. Earlier Tuesday, media reports emerged claiming that an airstrike killed at least eight people in an attack on the town of Arbin the previous evening.

"Western media reports citing the UK-financed White Helmets and the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights on an alleged airstrike on evening of July 24 in the eastern Ghouta deescalation zone are a complete lie aimed at discrediting the peace process," a spokesperson of the center said.

According to the spokesperson, local opposition groups "confirmed there were no airstrikes or combat in this de-escalation zone."

Ex-Senate adviser states the obvious: US presence, targeting of Syrian forces violate international law

The US military presence in Syria and its attacks on government forces lack any basis or justification under international law, ex-US diplomat and former foreign policy adviser to Senate Republican leaders Jim Jatras told Sputnik.

US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) head General Raymond Thomas last week told at a security forum on Friday that Russia can challenge the legality of the US military presence in Syria.

"Even more blatantly illegal is the targeting of Syrian governments forces operating on their own territory and fighting against al-Qaeda, among other terrorist groups. With respect to international law there is no murkiness at all: US actions in Syria are flatly illegal," Jatras said.

Tulsi Gabbard sides with Trump on ending CIA program to fund Al Qaeda & ISIS

Congreslid Tulsi Gabbard
Tulsi Gabbard
Media ignores the fact that Trump ended a CIA program that funded Al Qaeda.

Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has been very vocal on Syria, and Obama's illegal regime change war, which involves the United States providing arms, training and money to Al Qaeda and ISIS in Syria, in what was a failed effort to overthrow the democratically elected government of Assad.

President Trump has decided to end the CIA sponsored program that provided weapons to "moderate rebels" (aka Al Qaeda and ISIS), for which the liberal left media is accusing the president of doing Russia's bidding...as is John McCain...

In a memo to President Trump, a group of former U.S. intelligence officers, including NSA specialists, cite new forensic studies to challenge the claim of the key Jan. 6 "assessment" that Russia "hacked" Democratic emails last year.

MEMORANDUM FOR: The President

FROM: Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS)

SUBJECT: Was the "Russian Hack" an Inside Job?

Executive Summary

Forensic studies of "Russian hacking" into Democratic National Committee computers last year reveal that on July 5, 2016, data was leaked (not hacked) by a person with physical access to DNC computers, and then doctored to incriminate Russia.

Trump: Fake news WaPo fabricated facts on ending CIA train-and-equip program for Syrian rebels

President Donald Trump has again hit back at the Washington Post, accusing the paper of "fabricating" facts about his alleged decision to cancel a CIA-funded program to train Syrian rebels fighting Bashar Assad's government.

The president fired off a series of angry tweets on Monday.

"The Amazon Washington Post fabricated the facts on my ending massive, dangerous, and wasteful payments to Syrian rebels fighting Assad.....," Trump wrote.

"So many stories about me in the Washington Post are Fake News. They are as bad as ratings challenged CNN. Lobbyist for Amazon and taxes?"

Trump's anger apparently related to a story the Post ran on July 19, where it reported, citing unnamed officials, that the alleged intention to stop arming "moderate" rebels in Syria signaled the president's "interest" to appease Russia.

Another Twitter storm: Trump blasts AG over 'Clinton collusion with Ukraine', says acting FBI director got '$700k from H'

Donald Trump has accused his attorney general of taking a "very weak position" on the alleged collusion between the Clinton campaign and Ukraine, and once again brought up a contribution in which the wife of the acting FBI director received money "from H."

The barrage of accusations against Jeff Sessions and Andrew McCabe came in a series of tweets on Tuesday.

The tweets, directed at Fox News host Sean Hannity, came after Donald Trump Jr. appeared on Hannity's show last week, during which the president's son was interviewed on his personal meeting with a Russian lawyer. The meeting has been used by Trump's critics as they continue to accuse his campaign of colluding with Russia to win the election.

Head of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde says the organization may move its headquarters from Washington DC to Beijing in a decade if the growth trend in China and other major emerging markets continues.

Changes in big emerging markets will be reflected in the IMF's voting structure, and the Fund will need to increase its representation in the region, according to Lagarde.

"Which might very well mean, that if we have this conversation in 10 years' time...we might not be sitting in Washington, DC We'll do it in our Beijing head office," the Fund's Managing Director said.

Lagarde highlighted that emerging economies are currently growing larger and more influential.

She added that the IMF's bylaws call for the institution's head office to be located in the largest member economy.

Israel will remove controversial metal detectors from the Temple Mount, following recent protests and violence. The detectors sparked outrage among Palestinians, who accused Israel of trying to assert control over one of Islam's most sacred sites.

Israel's security cabinet made the decision to remove the metal detectors from the entrance of the Jerusalem holy site on Monday night.

"The cabinet accepts the recommendation of security officials to replace the metal detectors with security inspection based on advanced technologies - smart inspection - and other means to ensure the security of visitors and worshipers in the Old City of Jerusalem," the cabinet said in a statement, as quoted by Haaretz.

Israel has already begun dismantling the controversial detectors. Newly published photos show a worker removing one of the devices at the Lions' Gate early Tuesday morning.

What is 'Open Society'? But Soros is part of the elite...

Tim Hayward

The idea is familiar and sounds attractive. But attractive ideas can be used in different ways, and not always those you expect. Some interpretations of 'Open Society' actually conflict with others. The latent battle of ideas within is not obvious from a superficial look at definitions.

Yet the idea has become embroiled in some of the most significant political controversies of our time. Some might argue it has played a part in decisions affecting the fate of entire nations and the lives and deaths of people in them.

People choose to die for ideas. People can also be killed because of the ideas of other people. Seen in this light, spending a little time thinking about ideas is not time wasted.
