An alleged spy for Israel's Mossad intelligence service has been sentenced to death in Iran after he was found guilty of being involved in a string of assassinations of Iran's nuclear scientists, according to prosecutors in Tehran.

"One of the crimes of the convict has been disclosing the address and some details of 30 important figures involved in (the country's) research, military and nuclear projects, including (Iranian nuclear scientists) martyrs, Shahriari and Ali- Mohammadi, to Mossad intelligence officers which led to their assassination and martyrdom," Tehran prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi said, as cited by a judiciary news website Tuesday under the caption "An execution of Mossad agent."

Over the last decade, at least four senior nuclear researchers had been killed in Iran, including Masoud Ali-Mohammadi, Majid Shahriari, Dariush Rezaei Nejad and Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan.

According to the prosecution, the suspect confessed that he had "several meetings" with a number of Mossad officers and passed on "sensitive information" about dozens of Iranian military and nuclear scientists and sites in return for money and help in securing a residency permit in Sweden, Reuters reports.

Supreme Court drops Hawaii suit against Trump's expired travel ban

The US Supreme Court has vacated a decision by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals against President Donald Trump's travel ban affecting several Muslim-majority countries, citing that the provisions have "expired by [their] own terms."

On Tuesday, the nine Justice ruled that they would not hear legal arguments against a previous version of Trump's travel ban, brought by the state of Hawaii, because ban on refugees that was being challenged had expired.

The appeal "no longer presents a 'live case or controversy'," the court said.

The case will be remanded to the Ninth Circuit with instructions to "dismiss as moot" the challenge to the March 6 executive order.

Best of the Web: Phoenix 2.0: CIA unleashes Vietnam terror upon Afghanistan

Last week the new head of the CIA Mike Pompeo publicly threatened to make the CIA a "much more vicious agency". His first step towards that is to unleash CIA sponsored killer gangs onto the people of Afghanistan:
The C.I.A. is expanding its covert operations in Afghanistan, sending small teams of highly experienced officers and contractors alongside Afghan forces to hunt and kill Taliban militants across the country ...
...
The C.I.A.'s expanded role will augment missions carried out by military units, meaning more of the United States' combat role in Afghanistan will be hidden from public view.
This is not going to be a counter-insurgency campaign, even when some will assert that. A counter-insurgency campaign requires political, security, economic, and informational components. It can only be successful in support of a legitimate authority.

The current Afghan government has little legitimacy. It was bribed together by the U.S. embassy after wide and open election fraud threatened to devolve into total chaos. In August CIA director Pompeo met the Afghan president Ashraf Ghani and likely discussed the new plan. But the now announced campaign has neither a political nor an economic component. A campaign solely centered on "security" will end up as a random torture and killing expedition without the necessary context and with no positive results.

Senator with 18% approval rating says he's not seeking re-election because Trump is mean

Senator Jeff Flake (R-Arizona) has announced he will run for reelection in 2018, citing the Trump-era GOP politics as too mean in a fiery speech on the Senate floor. The junior senator has been an outspoken Trump critic.

"We must never regard as 'normal' the regular and casual undermining of our democratic norms and ideals," said Flake on Tuesday, shortly after President Donald Trump met with the Republican senators on Capitol Hill.

Personal attacks, threats against principles, freedoms and institutions and the "flagrant disregard for truth and decency" were the "appalling features of our current politics" and "should never be regarded as normal," Flake said.

"I will be better able to represent the people of Arizona and to better serve my country and my conscience by freeing myself from the political considerations that consume far too much bandwidth and would cause me to compromise far too many principles," said the senator. "To that end, I am announcing today that my service in the Senate will conclude at the end of my term in early January 2019."

Turkish president Recep Erdogan said Ankara's operation in Syria's Idlib province is largely over, but new military targets could lie ahead, with the Syrian Kurdish forces of northern Aleppo, with an allegedly vast "terrorist" element, possibly in Turkey's crosshairs.

Ankara's campaign in the northwest Syrian province of Idlib, aimed at enforcing the de-escalation zone, has largely achieved its goals, Erdogan said Tuesday, while addressing his ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party's parliamentary group.

"The operation in Idlib was largely completed," Erdogan said. He added, however, that there were other potential military targets in Syria, namely the Kurdish held Syrian region of Afrin, situated in the northwestern part of Aleppo province.

An executive order signed by President Donald Trump outlines the administration's plans to resume the refugee admissions program with enhanced vetting capabilities.

The order states that the screening and vetting procedures that determine which foreign nationals enter the US, including through the US Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP), play a critical role in rolling out the policy.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson convened a working group to implement the new review process, and the Homeland Security secretary will determine what actions to be taken, according to the executive order.

When Germany turns to Russia the US 'Deep State' will lose Europe

How do I know this? I didn't write that title for click-bait or SEO purposes. I wrote that title because it's true. This article will be one part geopolitical treatise and one part tutorial on how to read what isn't said as much as what is said and, most importantly, who is/isn't speaking.

We start with none other than Mr. CIA mouthpiece himself George Friedman. Freidman is the head of Stratfor, one of the most influential Washington D.C.-based 'intelligence' organizations around. In the past I've subscribed to Stratfor simply to find out what narratives the U.S. government wants me to believe.

Merkel-ism Trumped by populism again in Europe

Angela Merkel

Angela Merkel knows she's rapidly approaching a no-win scenario moment as the de facto leader of the European Union. Last weekend it was next door in Austria with Sebastian Kurz winning. He will form a center-right coalition government in Austria for the first time since World War II.

This weekend's votes moved against her in stunning fashion yet again as the "Czech Donald Trump," Andrej Babis won nearly 30% of the vote in an 8-way race.

He garnered nearly three times the support of any other candidate.

Facebook abusing monopoly of power for profit and working with US Deep State to censor news

Internet companies like Facebook are abusing their power to demonetize people and content they don't like and are in cahoots with the US deep state to censor the news, says investigative journalist Martin Summers.

Facebook users in Bolivia, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Serbia, Cambodia, and Guatemala have hit back at the social media giant, which is trialing a scheme to charge news outlets for their posts. It could have a significant impact on the organizations using the social network to distribute information and material.

The online community has lashed out, saying the social media network will be supplying people what they want to hear, also severing the link between the organizations and users.

Two US House committees will conduct a formal investigation into a 2010 deal that saw 20 percent of America's uranium supply being sold to a Russian mining company, amid accusations that bribes were paid to then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Representative Devin Nunes (R-California), Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, announced the investigation into the deal at a news conference Tuesday.

"We're not going to jump to any conclusions at this time, but one of the things as you know that we're concerned about is whether or not there was an FBI investigation, and if so, why was Congress not informed of this matter," Nunes said.

Nunes, who previously stepped down from the investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election, said the probe into Uranium One would be conducted by the House Intelligence Committee and the House Oversight Committee.
