The US President-elect and his family were subjected to "absolutely uncivilized methods" during the election campaign, Vladimir Putin has said. US President-elect Donald Trump is "not safe".

The Russian president made the remarks on Thursday at a press conference in Astana, Kazakhstan, following a two-day Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit.

Putin said he was astonished by the way the US election campaign had unfolded, citing the
"Absolutely uncivilized methods used to battle against Trump, including repeated assassination attempts. In my opinion, he is not safe now. Various incidents have happened in US history."
Russia's president praised Trump as an experienced and intelligent politician, saying he hopes the president-elect is "cautious and understands this."

Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire: Path to peace or festering wound?

The cessation of hostilities could lead to internal problems for both sides of the conflict.

At 4:00AM local time on November 27, a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon officially came into effect. This significant step was made possible through the mediation efforts of the United States and France, which developed and proposed a conflict resolution plan. The agreement outlines comprehensive measures for stabilizing southern Lebanon, where intense clashes had been ongoing between the IDF and the armed group Hezbollah.

According to the agreement, the Lebanese Army is mandated to deploy across the southern territories within the next 60 days, displacing Hezbollah's forces and infrastructure. The group is required to withdraw north of the Litani River, which is located approximately 20-30 kilometers from the Israeli border at various points.

This arrangement aims to establish a security zone free from Hezbollah's armed presence, a measure designed to ease tensions along the border. In turn, Israel has committed to fully withdrawing its military forces from Lebanese territory. This process will be conducted in phases under international supervision.

Comment: Israel threw a bone to US and France to keep them 'on board'. If there is a way around the agreement, Israel will find it. Placating (for long) is not in its repertoire.

Ukraine has lost almost 500,000 troops - Economist

Vladimir Zelensky previously claimed that only some 31,000 Ukrainian servicemen had been killed.

Up to half a million Ukrainian troops have been killed or wounded in the ongoing conflict with Russia, according to new estimates provided by The Economist, which cited leaked intelligence reports, official statements and open sources.

In an article published on Tuesday, the outlet noted that it is difficult to calculate Kiev's actual losses, given that Ukrainian officials and their allies are "reluctant to provide estimates."

Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky claimed in February that only 31,000 troops had been killed since the conflict with Russia escalated in 2022. He refused to reveal how many had been wounded, arguing it would let Moscow know "how many people are left on the battlefield."

However, The Economist noted that according to US officials, Kiev's total casualty figure currently stands at more than 308,000 soldiers. According to the outlet's analysis of other sources, the figure could be closer to half a million troops, of which "at least 60,000-100,000 are believed to have been killed. Perhaps a further 400,000 are too injured to fight on."

Comment: It is an outrage that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, whose lives were sacrificed in an avoidable war, be purposefully understated to bolster Biden's and Zelensky's 'impression management'.

Meanwhile, reports tell of alarming numbers of mass desertion:
The Associated Press reported Mass desertion is "starving" the Ukrainian Army and "crippling" Kiev's battle plans, as troops flee in their tens of thousands.

"We have already squeezed the maximum out of our people," an officer with the 72nd Brigade told the American news agency.

The Prosecutor General's office lists more than 100,000 soldiers who have been charged over desertion, nearly half of whom quit this year alone, but the actual number is likely significantly higher - as high as 200,000, one MP told the agency. In some cases, entire units have fled their frontline positions, it was told.

One of the deserters said:
"If there's no end term [to military service], it turns into a prison - it becomes psychologically hard to find reasons to defend this country."
Earlier this year, Kiev adopted sweeping military service reform, hoping it would bolster the rate of mandatory conscription. The US is now reportedly pushing the Ukrainian government to lower the minimum draft age to 18, down from 25.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky signed a bill into law this week, which waives criminal responsibility for first-time deserters if they volunteer to go back and fight.

In July 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that a shortage of manpower was the biggest problem facing the Ukrainian military, after a failed "counteroffensive" conducted against Russia earlier that year.
"Ukrainian units have suffered huge losses in their suicidal attacks. Tens of thousands of casualties. Despite constant raids, the never-ending waves of total mobilization in Ukrainian cities and villages, the current regime is finding that sending reinforcements to the front line becomes increasingly difficult. The country's mobilization reserve is being depleted."
Zelensky has been consistently blaming a shortage of Western-donated weapons for Ukrainian setbacks on the battlefield.

Meanwhile Russian officials have accused him of waging a war "to the last Ukrainian" on behalf of the US.

You have every reason to believe that this arrogant, malicious, leviathan government, and the vicious intel/lawfare blob at its vanguard, is about to be turned upside-down, inside-out, and sideways. Every appointment by Mr. Trump is a dose of chemotherapy to this malignant beast, aimed at all its diseased organs. The rogue cells within are going to die hard, struggle against their extinction, shriek and thrash as the treatment proceeds. That is, if it is allowed to proceed.

And so: rumors arise of a coup to prevent it from happening.

Merkel blows a hole in Washington's Nord Stream narrative

The former German chancellor has suggested a suspect and motive for the destruction of the pipeline, saying the not-so-quiet part out loud

Angela Merkel has just dropped a smoking gun into the pages of her new book. According to 'Freedom: Memoirs 1954-2021', published on November 26, Berlin was fully aware that Washington wanted to kill off Nord Stream. And that it was just using Russia as a scapegoat to steal a massive new energy market for itself.

"The United States argued that its security interests were affected by the building of the pipeline because its ally Germany would make itself too dependent on Russia. In truth, I felt that the United States was mobilizing its formidable economic and financial resources to prevent the business ventures of other countries, even their allies," Merkel writes.

Comment: When people retire from office they often continue to play some role: think of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama (former US Presidents), or Tony Blair and Boris Johnson (former PMs of the UK), Jens Stoltenberg (former PM of Norway), Anders Fogh Rasmussen (former PM of Denmark), and now Mark Rutte (fomer PM of the Netherlands).

Has Angela Merkel decided to follow their examples? One could argue for a yes, considering 'Credible deterrence' needed against Russia - Merkel, but as seen from her statements elsewhere in her book, and discussed in this article, it could also be a no. Is there such a concept as Merkelian ambiguity? It has not been mentioned in the litterature, but irrespective of its absence, which of her different positions to prefer and even accentuate, substantiate, and develop will be up to each German, and each observer. Compared to an Obama, a Blair, or Stoltenberg, that is, so far, a rather generous offer from her side.

West plotting to 'occupy' Ukraine - Russian intel

Plans are being made to freeze the conflict by sending 100,000 foreign troops to the country, according to the SVR

The West is secretly planning to occupy Ukraine and freeze the conflict with Russia by deploying tens of thousands of supposed peacekeepers to the country, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has said.

In a statement on Friday, the spy agency cited intelligence sources as saying that NATO is increasingly in favor of halting the hostilities along the current front line, as the US-led military bloc and Ukraine have come to realize that they are failing to inflict a "strategic defeat" on Russia.

West in 'proxy war' with Russia - Boris Johnson
[...]

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph on Thursday, Johnson chastised the West for what he sees as a lack of resolve in supporting Ukraine, stressing that it should set aside concerns about potential escalation.

"The problem has not been escalation; the problem has been the failure to escalate fast enough. It has been the dithering, the delay, and the nickel-and-diming of the [support] measures," he said, lamenting the gridlock in the US Congress in late 2023 and early 2024 which prevented aid from flowing to Kiev. "That was a nightmare for Ukraine," he added.

The same was true for the initial reluctance to approve Ukrainian strikes deep into Russia using British, French, and US-made long-range missiles, Johnson claimed, noting that Germany is still resisting pressure to make a similar move.

"It has been pathetic... Let's face it: We're waging a proxy war but not giving our proxies the ability to do the job. For years now, we've been allowing them to fight with one hand tied behind their backs, and it has been cruel," Johnson stated.

According to the former prime minister, the West needs to make progress on Kiev's accession to NATO, provide Ukraine with various military and logistical support without coming into direct conflict with Russia, and send it more money.

In addition, the international community, including Russia and Ukraine, "has to know where we... want this thing to end up," Johnson stated. "Until and unless we clear it up, you won't persuade [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to back down," he claimed.

For Johnson and the Western elite, it was never about Ukraine: it was always, and since a long time, about "where we... want this thing to end up," Recall also an interview from early May, where the now former British MP, Andrew Bridgen, gave his impression of the political situation.

British spy chief admits 'covert action' in Ukraine
Sir Richard Moore of MI6 has voiced confirmation of years-long rumors

British Secret Intelligence Service agents have been involved in covert operations against Russia on behalf of Ukraine, SIS head Sir Richard Moore has said.

The SIS was created by the WWII-era Special Operations Executive and is also known as MI6. Moore made the admission in a speech at the British Embassy in Paris on Friday at the reception for his French counterpart, Nicolas Lerner of the DGSE.

"We cherish our heritage of covert action which we keep alive today in helping Ukraine resist the Russian invasion," Moore said at one point.

His admission came just a day after former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson openly declared that Ukraine is a proxy of NATO in a war against Russia.

'American-Zionist plot' behind jihadists' Syria offensive - Iran

A former US official has said that the terrorist group rampaging through the country is "an asset" of Washington.

The US and Israel are responsible for the resurgence of Salafist terrorism in Syria, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has claimed, adding that Tehran will support the efforts by the government in Damascus aimed to to halt the ongoing jihadist offensive.

Hayat Tahrir-al-Sham (HTS), the terrorist group formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra, attacked government-controlled territory in northern Syria on Wednesday alongside a collection of allied militias, breaking a fragile truce brokered by Russia and Türkiye in 2020. By Friday, HTS fighters had entered Aleppo, which had been under Syrian government control since 2016.

In a phone call with his Syrian counterpart, Bassam al-Sabbagh, on Friday, Araghchi called the offensive "an American-Zionist" plot. According to Iran's PressTV, Araghchi noted that the attack took place immediately after Israel struck a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah in Lebanon, suggesting that Washington and West Jerusalem were using HTS as proxies to strike a blow against Syria's government, which supports the Palestinian cause.

Araghchi told al-Sabbagh that Iran continues to support the "Syrian government, nation, and army towards fighting terrorism and protecting regional security and stability," PressTV paraphrased.

Comment: The US and Israel are happy to stir up chaos before Trump's inauguration and thus hamstring his ability to act.

Comment: It is also interesting that these so-called Muslim Jihadist fighters prefer to kill peaceful Muslim civilians rather than fight against Israel. That strengthens the argument that they are simply paid mercenaries. Turkiye appears happy to support the jihadist fighters, something which is not lost on people in the Middle East. Below is a cartoon which illustrates this.

Jihadist in Syria
Kamal Sharaf's cartoon has gone viral in the Arabic-speaking segment, which completely reflects the current situation in Syria:

A terrorist asks the Emir of Qatar, who is distributing money: "Are we going to fight in Palestine?" To which Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani replies: "No, in Syria." Erdogan is seen off by the militants.

How Russia and China are rewiring Greek mythology

President Putin
© Public Domain
Oh, the wonders chips from dishwashers are able to unleash.

How come Zeus, King of the Gods, could not have foreseen it? Especially when his divine intuition was aware that in the future his thunderbolts would be replicated in Russia via Oreshnik - a seemingly harmless hazelnut tree.

Mythology prefigures post-everything reality.

Now let's go back to Newton for a bit. Based on his formulas, a one meter long uranium projectile flying at very high speed is capable of perforating 6 meters of hard rock (to the sound of Deep Purple's Highway Star?)

A warhead traveling at 1,200 meters per second is capable of perforating 46 meters of concrete.

Now imagine impact velocity greater than the speed of sound; the impact depth, of course, is exponentially fiercer.

Impact shock, at very high velocity, turns whatever is ahead into gas. A - kinetic - shock wave pops up as deep as 50 meters, swarming the deep underground and crushing, destroying - actually imploding - everything in its wake.

That's what happened deep underground at the Yuzhmash plant in Dnepropetrovsk - as Oreshnik was conceived by improving these physical principles. And Russia only used blanks for this first Oreshnik test - instead of warheads.

Dead Western soldiers in Ukraine a sign of 'dangerous escalation' - Orban

Orban
© Alexey Maishev/SputnikHungarian PM Viktor Orban
The involvement of foreign troops in hostilities indicates that the conflict is expanding, the Hungarian prime minister has warned

The reported presence of Western soldiers among the casualties in Ukraine marks a dangerous escalation and risks the "expansion of the war," Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said.

In an interview with Kossuth radio on Friday, Orban described the current state of affairs as paradoxical, stating that while peace appears closer than ever, the situation has never been as dangerous.

"According to Russian reports, American and French soldiers died in airstrikes carried out [by the Russians] on the territory of Ukraine. That means there are Western soldiers there," he said.

"So we are in a very dangerous situation, because people with military status from Western Europe or the United States can die in Ukraine today. This is what happened. We are praying for them, of course, this is a great loss for everyone, but it clearly shows the danger of escalation, thus the expansion of the war."

Comment: Are Europeans ready to send their sons to die on the East front as in WW2? Is it for real or is the West escalating in the hope of gaining a better position to negotiate from? A hope that appears to be rather delusional.

Blinken mocked for holding State Department 'cry sessions' after Trump victory

Officials had 'personal meltdowns'

Secretary of State Antony Blinken is under fire after being accused of holding therapy 'cry sessions' for department staffers upset over Donald Trump's election victory.

Blinken, who is expected to be replaced by Marco Rubio in January, has frequently clashed with the Republican-controlled Congress, being held in contempt in September for skipping a hearing on the disastrous exit from Afghanistan.

California Congressman and Trump ally Darrell Issa wrote an open letter to Blinken smashing the State Department for the rumored counseling sessions over Trump's win, calling them 'disturbing.'
