Zelensky reverses hardline position on peace talks

The about-face comes one day after reports of Donald Trump freezing military aid to Kiev.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has said that Kiev is ready to engage in peace negotiations with Russia, to be brokered by US President Donald Trump. The statement comes after the White House reportedly stopped all military aid to Kiev following a disastrous meeting in the Oval Office between the two leaders, for which US officials have demandedZelensky apologize.

Zelensky made a concession-filled post on X on Tuesday, saying his public feud with Trump in the Oval Office was "regrettable."

"We are ready to work fast to end the war," Zelensky wrote. He has frequently said in the past that Ukraine would fight as long as necessary and that peace talks could only happen on Ukraine's terms.

He proposed the release of prisoners and establishing "truces" on both the air and sea fronts, echoing suggestions by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron in a meeting with him in London on Sunday. The French-UK plan envisages a temporary, month-long "truce in the air, on the seas, and on energy infrastructure."

Moscow has repeatedly ruled out a temporary ceasefire with Kiev, insisting on a permanent, legally binding peace deal that addresses the root causes of the conflict.

Comment: Quite the abrupt U-turn for Mr. Z. We shall wait and see.

Israel continues sabotage of ceasefire deal with suspension of aid into Gaza

Israel has suspended the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and resumed targeting Palestinian civilians, bringing the ceasefire with Hamas the closest it has even been to collapse.

The ceasefire in Gaza came closest to collapsing since it began in mid-January after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Israel's halt of the entry of humanitarian aid into the strip. The first phase of the ceasefire deal came to an end on Sunday as Israel continued to refuse to begin negotiations over the second phase of the deal, which were supposed to commence in early February.

Throughout the 42 days of the first phase of the ceasefire, Israel systematically violated the terms of the deal by delaying the delivery of humanitarian aid, heavy machinery for reconstruction, and prefabricated mobile homes, while continuing to periodically open fire on and kill Palestinian civilians in Gaza and obstruct the return of the displaced to their homes. These violations have thrown the ceasefire into crisis on several occasions.

Brussels 'declares war' on European leaders supporting Trump — Russian intelligence

The European Union's leadership is obviously behind the decision to bring charges against Romanian presidential candidate Calin Georgescu, the SVR emphasized.

Brussels is waging a war on those European leaders who openly support US President Donald Trump, Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said.

The SVR press bureau said in a statement:
"According to available data, the European bureaucracy has declared a war on 'non-systemic leaders' who are open supporters of US President Donald Trump and refuse to follow instructions from the EU's ruling liberal elites."
According to the SVR:
"Brussels is extremely concerned that the new US leader could weaken the European globalist superstructure and is relying on nationally oriented conservative leaders such as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico and Romanian presidential candidate Calin Georgescu in this work."

Democratic Rep. Al Green faces censure for disrupting Trump speech - House Speaker

House Speaker Mike Johnson said his GOP majority is likely to censure Democratic Rep. Al Green for disrupting President Trump's joint address to Congress.

Mr. Green, Texas Democrat, stood up during the first few minutes of the address Tuesday night and shook his cane at the president in response to Mr. Trump declaring he has a mandate from voters to carry out his agenda.

"You have no mandate," Mr. Green shouted.

His attempts to disrupt the president prompted warnings from Mr. Johnson and when he did not relent, the speaker had the House sergeant-at-arms remove Mr. Green from the chamber.

Comment: Green is unrepentent.

Green, a longtime critic of Trump, told reporters after being removed that he was working on articles of impeachment against the president and defended his outburst at the start of Trump's speech.

"This president is unfit," Green said. "He should not hold the office."

Green said it was worth being removed from the joint session of Congress to make his point, which he said was to object to Trump saying he had a "mandate."

"I was making it clear to the president that he has no mandate to cut Medicaid," Green said, referring to the health care program used by 80 million Americans. "I have people who are very fearful. These are poor people, and they have only Medicaid in their lives when it comes to their health care."

Green's objections are not based on facts. His take is simplistic, if not childish. DOGE is not "cutting" anything. It has no authority to do that. It is auditing the Medicaid system, along with all other government departments, and making recommendations for improvement. What's not positive about getting fraud out of the Medicaid system? Yet that's what he chose to grandstand over. Sad.

"But it's worth it to let people know that there are some of us who are going to stand up against this president's desire to cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security," he said.

Green's outburst saw the congressman wave his walking cane as he stood up and shouted at the president. Republicans drowned him out with chants of "USA! USA!"

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., issued a warning for order, banging the gavel and saying, "Take your seat, sir!" When Green remained standing, Johnson ordered the Sergeants-at-Arms to restore order by removing the long-serving congressman from the chamber.

"It is the best way to get that across to a person who uses his incivility, who uses his incivility against our civility," Green said of Trump. "He is a person who has consistently used incivility against civility."

Johnson said afterward that Green should be censured by the House - among the more severe reprimands his colleagues could mete out.

"He's made history in a terrible way," Johnson told reporters after the session.

Ukraine: Is this genuine jingoism?

Trump and Zelensky in the Oval office
Ending the war fast is of paramount importance for the US.
There was a fight in the Oval Office!

Former actor and comedian President Zelensky and former reality television presenter Donald Trump went at it.

Trump made fun of his clothes, Zelensky warned that war would come to the US if Ukraine fell and called Vice-President JD Vance "bitch".

Zelensky disrespected the office of the President or was bullied by big meanies depending on which color you voted for.

It's all very serious, real stuff.

As serious and real as the traumatised faces Zelenksy and his First Lady were making during their Vogue photoshoot in 2022.

The track-suited former "peace candidate" then either left the Whitehouse voluntarily or was told to leave, again depending who you voted for.

He then immediately flew to England for an "emergency last minute" meeting with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and a totally off-the-cuff audience with His Majesty.

Comment: It is indeed the case as the author writes:
"And, not since those early Covid days, has the truth/coverage ratio been so low."

EU trapped as 'cheerleader of US hegemony' - Jeffrey Sachs

The bloc needs an independent foreign policy and normal relations with Russia, the American economist tells RT

The European Union's unwavering support for US hegemonic policies has ensnared it in a precarious position, according to award-winning American economist and public policy analyst Jeffrey Sachs.

In an interview with RT on Friday, Sachs discussed the Ukraine conflict, the EU's geopolitical stance, and the broader implications of Washington's foreign policy. He emphasized the necessity for the EU to assert its independence from Washington's influence, advocating for the establishment of its own foreign policy and the normalization of relations with Moscow.

The bloc "needs to have its own foreign policy. It needs to re-engage with Russia," Sachs stated, highlighting the significance of the EU's $20 trillion economy and the critical need for it to operate in harmony with the global economy.

"This is really gonna get me assassinated"

During a recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, Elon Musk suggested that he'll be assassinated if he goes too deep into the corruption in DC.

"It's more than just insider trading. The stock portfolio stuff is quite trackable, but it's a lot more than insider trading," said Musk.

"The way they're acquiring wealth?" Rogan asked.

...pause...

"Correct," replied Musk.

Aaron Maté: Zelensky's hostility to peace triggers White House meltdown

Zel/Trump

Long rewarded by Washington and NATO for undermining diplomacy with Russia, Zelensky grew confrontational -- and told outright falsehoods -- when Donald Trump and JD Vance told him to make peace.

A contentious White House meeting between President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has thrown US-Ukrainian relations into disarray. The meeting resulted in Zelensky's ejection from the White House, the cancellation of a planned minerals agreement, and, according to one report, a review of continued US military assistance to Ukraine.

For panicked cheerleaders of the proxy war against Russia, the consensus view is that Trump has betrayed a stalwart US ally, sided with an enemy in Moscow, and may have even deliberately triggered the clash to serve his treacherous agenda.

Those who insist that Zelensky was ambushed are overlooking the cordial, lengthy exchange that occurred before the meeting turned testy. In a room full of aides and news cameras, Trump, Vance, and Zelensky held court for more than 40 minutes. It was Zelensky who became confrontational each time the two US leaders spoke favorably about negotiations with Russia.

Comment: The US/Ukraine door has all but swung shut. Zelensky's tantrums and manipulations effect expired on January 20, 2025.

US halts all military aid to Ukraine

US President Donald Trump has instructed the Defense Department to pause all military aid to Ukraine following his public spat with Vladimir Zelensky, news agencies reported on Monday, citing American officials.

According to Bloomberg, the freeze affects the equipment already designated for delivery, including weapons in transit on aircraft and ships or waiting in transit areas in Poland.

The suspension will stay in place until Trump sees that the Ukrainian leaders "demonstrate a good-faith commitment to peace," Bloomberg said, citing a senior Pentagon official.

Comment: Given 'a genuine commitment to peace' - there should be no need. Why then send Ukraine more weapons/equipment to avoid it? Z isn't purchasing them.

According to the New York Times, the order takes effect immediately and affects more than $1 billion in "arms and ammunition in the pipeline and on order."

Comment: US owes Ukraine? If you cannot afford YOUR war...don't start one!

Germany's Scholz calls Ukraine demilitarization 'unacceptable'

OScholz

The chancellor has dismissed one of Moscow's key demands in potential peace with Kiev.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has claimed that European security must center around a "strong" Ukraine, rejecting Russia's insistence that its neighbor must be demilitarized. Scholz's remarks came after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced plans for a new coalition of nations willing to bolster Kiev against Moscow.

Starmer hosted an emergency meeting in London on Sunday, acknowledging that while some of Kiev's backers have limited resources, those capable should act urgently. Speaking to journalists after the gathering, Scholz did not specify whether Berlin would deploy troops but emphasized continued financial and military support for Ukraine:
"It is clear that we must support Ukraine financially and with military means. Berlin alone has raised a total of €44 billion for Kiev. Secondly, we must know that at the core of any future peace order must be the ability for Ukraine to defend itself and have a strong army... All security architectures must revolve around it."
According to the Kiel Institute, Germany is the second-largest individual state donor to Ukraine, contributing approximately $18 billion in military and other aid.

Comment: Europe should wise up or it goes down with Ukraine. Trump's US exit will rapidly bring home that point.
