Best of the Web: Making America Great Is All About Israel

It's the overwhelming sentiment in the White House and Congress

After Donald Trump began to pull together his cabinet and inner circle it became pretty clear that the overwhelming tie that bound the group together was its embrace of Israel and everything that it is doing. There were even jokes that the top cabinet officials had apparently been selected by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel himself to reflect the fact that the Jewish state would be calling the shots for Trump even more than they did with the spineless Joe Biden. The handover of power was confirmed for all to see when Trump invited Netanyahu to the White House, the first foreign head of state to be so sanctified. While in Washington, a grinning Netanyahu was beguiled to learn of a crazy scheme to either kill or throw all the remaining Palestinians out of what was once Palestine and turn the ruins of Gaza into a high-end beach resort. Since that time, Trump has assured a delighted Netanyahu that no Palestinians would be allowed to return to visit what was once the site of their homes and communities.

So okay, those of us who had not yet learned to accept the occasional genocides carried out by Israel on its neighbors are now quickly learning to understand that the enabling role played by Joe Biden in the massacres of the Arabs was about to accelerate to a higher gear, which would include the clearing of the West Bank and incorporation of parts of Lebanon and Syria after the two million or so pesky Gazans are removed. Nevertheless, there were still some surprises to come and I must confess that some developments as well as recent comments made by Trump's team have been astonishing even if one expected the worst.

Exposing elite degeneracy

It goes almost without saying that the "elite" referenced here is located in the collective West. It would be exceedingly difficult to associate the leading segment of any other society or civilisation, as a class, with degeneracy.

Our archetypal case study are the Macrons, the French power couple situated at the apex of their country's political pyramid. Our French sources assure us that in France anomalies concerning the birth gender of the allegedly female member of that pair have been suspected for a long time. Those suspicions, however, have had to be voiced sub rosa, because of the establishment's extreme hostility to any speculations on that subject.

The few investigative journalists and investigators who had ventured to question those anomalies, many of which are obvious even to the naked eye, have been hounded by the media and persecuted by the French judicial system in a variety of vicious ways. That plainly gives the lie to what remains of France's historical reputation of being a haven of enlightened tolerance for diverse views.

American journalist Candace Owens has assembled evidence that compellingly (and almost conclusively) demonstrates that the individual passed off to the public under the identity of Brigitte Macron, the official wife of the French President, is neither Brigitte nor a biological woman.

US State Department slashes USAID assistance to Ukraine

The State Department this week terminated a U.S. Agency for International Development initiative that has invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help restore Ukraine's energy grid from attacks by the Russian military, according to two USAID officials working on the agency's Ukraine mission.

Power outages have been applied overnight in some regions of Ukraine due to the attacks on energy facilities. The country's systems have sustained near-constant impact throughout the course of the three-year war.

"It significantly undercuts this administration's abilities to negotiate on the ceasefire, and it'd signal to Russia that we don't care about Ukraine or our past investments," one USAID official involved in the Ukraine mission told NBC News.

Ukraine attempted to attack TurkStream - Russian MOD

Russian air defenses have intercepted three drones near a key compressor station in Krasnodar Region servicing the TurkStream gas pipeline, in what the Defense Ministry in Moscow has described as a Ukrainian sabotage attempt.

The pipeline delivers Russian natural gas to Turkish customers and several European countries, including Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Greece. Operational since January 2020, it has an annual capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters.

In a statement on Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that "on the night of February 28, against the backdrop of [Ukrainian leader] Vladimir Zelensky's visit to Washington, the Kiev regime carried out yet another attempt to attack the Russkaya gas compressor station in the village of Gaikodzor... with the help of three fixed-wing UAVs." Moscow suggested that Kiev had sought to disrupt the delivery of Russian gas to European nations.

According to the ministry, all three incoming drones were destroyed some distance away from the facility, with the energy infrastructure sustaining no damage and continuing normal operations.

France, unable to cope with the shock of Donald Trump

MacronMap

We are the good guys, they are the bad guys.
It was not Donald Trump who turned against the Kiev regime, as we are led to believe, but Volodymyr Zelensky who had US interests bombed, causing heavy damage to Chevron and ExxonMobil. It is therefore completely futile to believe that a visit to Washington will be enough for Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron to reverse the situation.
It may seem absurd to attack one's allies, but that is what the Nazis did against Poland and what the Ukrainian integral nationalists did against the United States.

February 12

French President Emmanuel Macron immediately reacted to the announcement of the US-Russia talks in Riyadh. He convened a meeting of his seven main allies on the European continent at the Élysée Palace on February 12: the foreign ministers of Germany (Annalena Baerbock), Spain (José Manuel Albares Bueno), the United Kingdom (David Lammy), Italy (Antonio Tajani), Poland (Radosław Sikorski) and the High Representative of the European Commission for Foreign Policy (Estonian Kaja Kallas), as well as the European Commissioner for Defense and Space (Lithuanian Andrius Kubilius).

This meeting was to determine a common response. Of course, that was not the case. Only France and the United Kingdom are ready to send troops to Ukraine to enforce the implementation of a possible peace. Germany, Spain and Italy are firmly opposed to it. The EU and especially the Baltic states would like the others to do so.

Trump wants to shrink the State Department's size, reach and focus

Plans call for fewer embassies, cuts to programs to build goodwill abroad and more focus on immediate U.S. interests.

President Donald Trump wants to radically shrink the State Department — leaving it with fewer diplomats, a smaller number of embassies and a narrower remit that critics argue could hand China wins across the world.

The Trump administration, fueled by Elon Musk and his acolytes, appears determined to focus the department on areas such as transactional government agreements, safeguarding U.S. security and promoting foreign investment in America. That means cutting back or eliminating bureaus promoting traditional soft power initiatives — such as those advancing democracy, protecting human rights, supporting scientific research or generally fostering goodwill abroad.

The changes would amount to a historic restructuring of the storied department whose work and scope has expanded over the decades to include a variety of efforts to bolster American influence abroad, ranging from helping countries defend their critical networks from hackers to advocating for people with disabilities.

Comment: Streamline for efficiency, cutback to essential funding, lean and clean are the targets. 'Beyond ceiling US debt' affects all aspects of American life both now and future.

Kiev facing pressure to intensify conscription - Economist

Ukrainian officials have told the British magazine that the nation will soon have no option but to draft young adults.

Kiev is under pressure to escalate its mobilization drive to sustain the conflict with Russia, according to The Economist. While Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky strives to motivate younger men to volunteer, his officials acknowledge that increased mandatory conscription may be inevitable.

Last year, Kiev revamped its military service system, lowering the conscription age to 25 and imposing stricter penalties for draft avoidance. However, these measures have reportedly fallen short of the recruitment goals. The Economist reported on Wednesday that Western advisers are urging Kiev to draft younger individuals, viewing this as the quickest path to strengthening the army.

Publicly, Zelensky has resisted lowering the draft age - privately, however, his officials have reportedly acknowledged that it will likely be necessary. A senior official told the British magazine that the "tightening will continue because no one has come up with a better solution."

Soros trying to derail Trump's plans - Musk

Elon Musk
© Allison Robbert/Getty ImagesElon Musk
Elon Musk has backed claims that Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros is spending millions of dollars in an attempt to block US President Donald Trump's political agenda and squeeze Republicans out of Congress.

The accusation comes after the US Republican Party narrowly passed a budget blueprint on Tuesday in the House of Representatives, leading to concerns that the outcome of an upcoming race for a seat in the Wisconsin Supreme Court could shift the balance of power.

On Thursday, former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker claimed in a post on X that Soros has been trying to influence the Wisconsin vote in order to give the Democrats the upper hand in Congress.

Walker wrote:
"Do the math. The vote on Tuesday night was 217-215. George Soros is pulling millions into the WI Supreme Court race because a 4-3 liberal majority will redraw Congressional districts to squeeze out 2 GOP seats. This is how he blocks the Trump agenda. We can't let that happen."
Musk agreed with Walker on Friday, writing that derailing Trump's agenda "is exactly [Soros'] goal."

Comment: It is despicable that elections come down to money and influence rather than rise up by strength of character and honest efforts to best serve the people.

Two men recruited by Kiev planned an attack on Metropolitan Tikhon in Moscow, the agency has said

Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has thwarted a Ukrainian attempt to assassinate a senior figure in the Russian Orthodox Church in Crimea, an agency statement has claimed.

The Ukrainian military intelligence plot allegedly involved threatening an aide of Crimean Metropolitan Tikhon, the head of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese and reported to be a spiritual adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In a statement on Friday, the FSB said it had arrested a Russian and Ukrainian citizen respectively, who confessed to being recruited in mid-2024 and receiving the explosive device in December 2024 through a dead drop.

Zero for Zelensky

Oval Office Meeting
© The Postil Magazine
There is an old saying in the East that I encountered in a book whose title I've now forgotten: "That when a pariah dog wants to die, it gets on top of a mosque... and pisses."

Volodymyr Zelensky showed up at the White House, in his best attire, which even President Trump had to note and admire, and decided that it would be the height of diplomacy to get into a verbal fight with both the President and Vice-President of the United States — for those who might not now remember, the US has been the primary funder and sponsor for everything that Zelensky has been doing to his country for the past three years.

And it is likely that Zelensky came primed for precisely this sort of a confrontation, in which he hoped to get the better of Trump by embarrassing him and thereby forcing him to concede to what Zelensky wants — more money, more weapons, and more war. It would appear that he was likely primed by the phony bravura that has now gripped European leaders and others (Canada) who played lapdog to former President Biden. With the EU and Canada behind him, how could he lose?

On February 24, 2025, leaders from various European countries and institutions issued joint statements commemorating the third anniversary of the Ukraine-Russia war. These statements collectively emphasized several key points:
  • There was the requisite condemnation of Russia, because it was engaging in an illegal, unprovoked, and unjustified full-scale military invasion of Ukraine. This is the old rhetoric that once got everyone fired up — and it is now dull as dishwater.
  • EU Leaders reiterated their unwavering support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity — whatever this even means. Of course, the European Union provided Ukraine with €135 billion of taxpayers money, in economic, humanitarian, financial, and military assistance, including €48.7 billion in military aid.
  • The EU adopted a sixteenth sanctions package because this would increase pressure on Russia and limit its ability to wage war. Never mind what these sanctions are doing to Europe. The chihuahuas of Europe, the Nordic-Baltic countries, pledged to continue putting maximum pressure on Russia through sanctions and measures against "the shadow fleet." This would have Trump shaking in his boots.
  • These same Nordic-Baltic countries are among the top contributors to Ukraine, and have pledged to provide more support, including air defense and ammunition, and to invest in Ukraine's defense industry (who knew there was one).
  • The statements emphasized support for Ukraine's integration into the European Union and NATO (who knew that the EU controls NATO). The EU has also granted Ukraine candidate country status and launched accession negotiations. The EU will go bankrupt if Ukraine ever joins.
  • These brilliant EU leaders called for accountability for all war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the conflict. Maybe they'll begin with looking at what the Azov Battalion and various other neo-Nazis have been up to since 2014, which have been published in this magazine here, here and here.
  • The statements also stuck in something about peace — but only if the EU and Ukraine are at the negotiating table. Of course, these same EU leaders forgot about all those "peace" meetings that they organized — without Russia at the negotiating table..
No wonder Zelensky thought he would the king of the hill at the White House. Wouldn't you feel the same if had such heavy-duty diplomats (or is it dipsticks?) behind you as Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa, not to mention the real stalwarts of Europe, Sir Keir Starmer, Emanuel Macron and some guy from Germany named Merz who once worked in the upper echelons of Blackrock — yes, that Blackrock?
