U.S. military officials have complained that a Russian fighter jet came dangerously close to a U.S. surveillance plane in the Mediterranean Sea, the second such encounter in four days in the region.

In its statement on April 19, the U.S. Navy did not say where exactly the encounter occurred, only that it happened over international waters.

Several aircraft tracking sites said the incident occurred in the eastern Mediterranean, not far from the Syrian coast.

The Russian Su-35 fighter jet approached the P-8A plane twice on April 19, and during the second time, it came within 8 meters of the U.S. plane, the Navy said.

Comment: The US sticking their nose where it doesn't belong is also 'unsafe and unprofessional', to say the least.

Czech president Milos Zeman says nation's borders should stay closed for a year to prevent second wave of Covid-19

The Czech Republic is about to start easing its coronavirus quarantine restrictions. The move is unlikely to cover foreign travel, however, as the nation's president says borders should stay closed for a long time.

The borders should remain closed for at least one year, Zeman told Czech radio station Frekvence 1, warning that people travelling abroad and returning home could bring the virus to the republic once again if they happen to visit areas where Covid-19 is still spreading.

Under the current restrictions, which have been in place since March 16, Czechs can only travel abroad in "urgent cases." Zeman advised his fellow countrymen who want to spend their vacations abroad to enjoy "beautiful Czech landscapes" instead.

The president's recommendations appear to be in line with the plans of the Health Ministry. Deputy Health Minister Roman Prymula said as early as March that foreign travel could be restricted for a year, or even two. Health Minister Adam Vojtech was less strict in his assessment, as he considered the possibility of allowing citizens to visit some European nations that have only been slightly affected by the epidemic, such as Croatia or Slovakia.

Comment: When tyranny comes, it is not always welcomed with open arms. But it seems that world leaders have hit upon the perfect recipe. If there's a silver lining to the present situation, it will be that enough people will be personally affected enough, and see the obvious disparity between the reasons for such bans and reality, to resist. But we'll just have to wait and see how all of this plays out. Our 'wise' leaders may miscalculate.

Flashback Politics and Massive Corruption at the World Health Organization (WHO)

World Health Org
This article, translated from French, was written prior to Wuhan Coronavirus epidemic outbreak

***

The WHO [OMS in French] is the World Health Organisation. 'WHO' in English - and that's much more appropriate. WHO: who is it really?

Would the world be getting along any better without this outfit, which is in theory such a good idea? Would we be in better health?

The question is as serious as it is relevant.

Though even one death is one too many, compared with the alarmist forecasts from this professional organisation that were foisted on all the ministries of health the world over, one could say that the H1N1 viral pandemic, version 2009, has so far produced not much more than a mouse.

But what a fabulous show for the media!

What a brilliantly organized panic!

How many millions of euros spent, and best of all, what worrying rumours, about the health risks linked this time to the vaccination, which might not even work!

Thus arose a psychosis that might have stolen the headlines even from a much more palpable threat, much more deadly and with effects that have already been felt to the bone by a large part of the world's population: the climatic effects of pollution and of the way of life engendered by the currently prevailing ideology, that of extreme and unfair capitalism, "deregulated" as it is called in the sober phraseology of its well-heeled master thieves.

Sweden is right - The economy should be left open

Sweden Covid-19
Sometimes, the best thing to do, is to do nothing at all. Take Sweden, for example, where the government decided not to shut down the economy, but to take a more thoughtful and balanced approach. Sweden has kept its primary schools, restaurants, shops and gyms open for business even though fewer people are out in public or carrying on as they normally would. At the same time, the government has kept the Swedish people well-informed so they understand the risks the virus poses to their health and the health of others. This is how the Swedes have minimized their chances of getting the infection while avoiding more extreme measures like shelter-in-place which is de facto house arrest.

What the Swedish experiment demonstrates, is that there's a way to navigate these unprecedented public health challenges without recklessly imposing police state policies and without doing irreparable harm to the economy. And, yes, the results of this experiment are not yet known, but what we do know is that most nations cannot simply print-up trillions of dollars to counter the knock-on effects of bringing the economy to a screeching halt. These countries must dip into their reserves or take out loans from the IMF in order to recover from the lack of production and activity. That means they're going to face years of slow growth and high unemployment to dig out from the mess their leaders created for them.

Opec+ deal: Frmr diplomat says Putin saved US shale to encourage détente in relations with Washington

Putin and Trump
Last week, Russia, Saudi Arabia and other major petroleum producers (sans the United States) signed a historic deal to cut oil output by a whopping 9.7 million barrels per day over the next two months in a bid to end the oil glut which sent prices falling off a cliff in March.

Russian President Vladimir Putin didn't sign on to the OPEC+ oil deal last week out of an altruistic sense of concern over the fate of the US shale industry, but as part of Moscow's broader diplomatic effort to try to bring the Cold War Part II brewing between Washington and Moscow over the past several years to an end, M.K. Bhadrakumar, a retired diplomat and veteran columnist for several respected Indian newspapers, believes.

Last week, after the signature of OPEC+ deal on crude production cuts, energy market analysts told the New York Times that speaking frankly, Russia and Saudi Arabia may saved the US shale industry from annihilation by reaching the deal.

As crude prices scraped lows unseen in decades in March after OPEC+'s failure in Vienna to agree on cuts amid the COVID-19 pandemic, America's shale industry sounded the alarm about imminent bankruptcies caused by high production costs and flagging demand.

Acting director of National Intelligence Grenell upsets Deep State political order

After two months as acting director of National Intelligence, Richard Grenell has more than made his mark by carrying out President Trump's directions to make American intelligence more efficient and less political.

Director Grenell's success has infuriated President Trump's political opponents who want U.S. intelligence agencies to continue to violate its mandate by meddling in domestic politics to undermine the president.

Grenell hit the ground running his first week on the job by removing a top Office of Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) official and requesting the intelligence behind a discredited January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment on Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election

He later replaced the head of the bloated ODNI National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), announcing plans for staffing reductions, a move that will reduce the NCTC's overlap with the more capable CIA Counterterrorism Center.

Surprise, surprise: Labour Party officials secretly blacklisted Britain's anti-war activists

A leaked report appears to show evidence that some of the most highly-paid Labour Party staffers wanted their party to lose the UK general election in 2017, and that they actively campaigned against anti-war activists within the party.

Labour Party staff opposed to Jeremy Corbyn compiled a secret blacklist to deny or revoke membership of the party to those criticising "war criminals", a leaked document shows.

Scores of internal emails and WhatsApp messages show that party officials were hostile towards new members who came from Britain's anti-war movement. Some party officials also relished public criticism of Corbyn's support for nuclear disarmament and wanted him to blame immigration for a terrorist attack.

Biden forgets he hasn't won, puts together a White House transition team

Joe Biden
Someone needs to explain to Joe Biden that he's the presumptive Democratic nominee, not the presumptive next president. The Democratic candidate is reportedly assembling a White House transition team with over six months to go before the general election.

During a virtual fundraising event, Biden announced his campaign has already begun building a transition team, and the candidate would not rule out announcing cabinet nominees before November's election.

"Sounds presumptuous," Biden acknowledged. "I don't want to say we started thinking about it a month ago -- we did -- because that sounds like I was certain this was going to happen, that I would be the nominee. I don't want it to sound like that, but it has to happen and that's why the transition team is already being put together."

What you may not know about Dr. Tony Fauci

Fauci
© Joe Gromelski/Stars and StripesNational Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Tony Fauci
Dr. Peter Duesberg is a professor of molecular and cell biology at the University of California at Berkeley.

He is a pioneer in retrovirus research and the first scientist to isolate a cancer gene. He has been a recipient of an Outstanding Investigator Grant from the National Institutes of Health.

He has had a long-running battle with the medical establishment over HIV and AIDS. In 1996, he wrote a book, Inventing the AIDS Virus, where he discusses his battle, the techniques used by his opponents in promoting their view of the cause of AIDS and their aggressive attempts to block out, in the media and elsewhere, his perspective.

Below are snippets from the Duesberg book. Keep in mind the book was published 24-years ago, although it seems not much had changed in Fauci's coziness with the media and his modus operandi of shady data claims and shady science.

British scientists: Coronavirus outbreak may have begun in September

coronavirus
© screenshotCambridge study used mathematical algorithm to map movement of organisms
The first outbreak of the coronavirus could have happened further south than the central Chinese city of Wuhan as early as September, according to a team of scientists led by the University of Cambridge.

University of Cambridge geneticist Peter Forster said on Thursday:
"The virus may have mutated into its final 'human-efficient' form months ago, but stayed inside a bat or other animal or even human for several months without infecting other individuals. Then, it started infecting and spreading among humans between September 13 and December 7, generating the network we present in [the journal] Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences [PNAS]."

The team analysed the strains using a phylogenetic network - a mathematical algorithm that can map the global movement of organisms through the mutation of their genes.
