President Trump
is not prepared to concede the presidential race to Joe Biden, despite being told by his counselors that it would be the right thing to do, according to a report Friday.
Other advisers have urged the president to continue his fight for votes,
a senior aide told Fox News.Trump is said to be "simply skeptical," though he "may ultimately concede," the aide said. "He's just not there yet," the aide said.
They added,
"He warned about this for months. The media didn't take it seriously, and now, here we are with the scenario."
Asked about reports that Trump may not concede the race โ after results early Friday showed Biden edging out the incumbent in
Pennsylvania and
Georgia โ Biden campaign spokesman Andrew Bates told Bloomberg News,
"As we said on July 19th, the American people will decide this election. And the United States government is perfectly capable of escorting trespassers out of the White House."
Trump has been waging legal battles over the counts in a number of swing states, and a source told Fox News he'll likely ask for a recount in Pennsylvania โ a must-win state for him to secure a second term โ as well as in Georgia and Arizona if he falls to Biden.
The Trump campaign
asked for a recount in Wisconsin on Wednesday, shortly after the race was called for Biden.
On Friday, Trump campaign general counsel Matt Morgan
promised, "This election is not over."
The president, meanwhile, pivoted to the Senate race, as Republicans look to hold onto its majority in the upper chamber.
"With the attack by the Radical Left Dems on the Republican Senate, the Presidency becomes even more important!" Trump
tweeted Friday.
If Trump loses this election,
there's nothing stopping the 74-year-old from running again in 2024.
Comment: The nastiest of politics just got nastier:
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's campaign has warned President Donald Trump that their government would be willing to physically remove him from the White House after reports Trump will refuse to concede.
"The US government is perfectly capable of escorting trespassers out of the White House," Biden's director of rapid response, Andrew Bates, told Fox on Friday, declaring that "the American people will decide this election."
Pelosi said that "whether he knows it yet or not, he will be leaving," adding that Trump may have to be "fumigated out of there."
Pelosi, jumping the gun, hails
'President-elect Joe Biden' as votes are still being counted:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has embraced the "imminent" victory of Democrat Joe Biden, as battleground states continue to count votes and the Trump campaign files lawsuits.
The California Democrat framed the supposed upcoming victory as a "tremendous mandate," even though the former vice president had yet to officially win the decisive 270 electoral votes needed to clinch the presidency.
"I am so officially pleased with the outcome that is imminent, and also personally delighted because of the quality and caliber of leadership that Biden will provide. This morning it is clear that the Biden-Harris ticket will win the White House."
