Sixth-graders in Israel accidentally received DVDs with porn instead of school film as graduation present

Yep! You heard us right. A school in Israel presented students upon graduation with DVDs which contained pornography instead of school film. Now, that is a memorable graduation!

The incident occurred in the city of Haifa, according to Life.ru. The sixth graders received an unusual surprise at their class graduation party. The discs which were supposed to have a film about their school instead had pornographic footage on them.

The parent of one of the students was shocked to discover the actual content of the DVD. Upon this unusual discovery they rushed to inform other parents.

Angry parents appealed to the board of the school for clarification. The board explained this incident saying that it could have happened because the company which was recording the school film on the DVDs was reusing the discs on which earlier adult films were being recorded.

The school promised to correct this error as soon as possible and offered their apologies.

Comment: Did no one think to check the DVDs before giving them away?

I'm sorry, but blank DVD's are so cheap these days, why would they need to recycle them?

Re-Writables?

Trying to discover if they used reWritables, which are more expensive, but nothing. Strangely, here is a comment from [Link] : "The school responded that their hired DVD-maker must have made the DVDs by recording over used discs, and some of the previous scenes must have stuck around. That’s not how DVD recording works, but we can understand why he lied, the DVD-recording market must be tough these days."

Exactly, that's NOT how it works. You cannot record over DVDs, only reWriteables, which at Amazon are $11 for 50x Normal DVDs and $16 for 30x ReWritables ... and ...

OK I didn't want to post without research - it seems it is possible to add data to an already written -RW or +RW disc, IF the session has not been closed by the burning program. +RW is better at this but apparently it is possible with both. HOWEVER the school movie would have been at the end of the disc on session 2 with the porn at the beginning on session 1 - think Track 1 and Track 2 on an old school Audio CD. So they company the school hired never erased the discs and never bothered to use new discs but just recycled old RW's they had there with , for some reason, porn on them. Knowing computer companies where I have worked, it is no surprise at all.

Computer Technician: "No, ma'am, don't worry, we have a privacy policy, we will never look at your sensitive data, blah blah blah"
