An employee always has a choice if his employer wants him to say/do something with which he disagrees - keep collecting a paycheck by doing what the employer wants or stop collecting a paycheck by refusing to do what the employer wants. For various reasons, most of the time, people will compromise their principles in order to keep collecting a paycheck.
Good for this "journalist"; it is extremely unusual to read or hear about someone in the media publicly refusing to continue to spout the BS that is constantly being fed to the public as "news". However, given the quotes from his subsequent Facebook statement, it seems that this guy has had second thoughts about giving up his paycheck over this.
One can blame the media for "dumbing down" the news, but they're in the business of giving the public what it wants. Ultimately, it is the public that is to blame for being stupid enough to be content with what the media is giving them.
