One of my bosses asked me to make a sign while working at a very public place. I did it and handed it to him. He chuckled and gave it back. Said, "You wrote that sign for yourself. I meant for the whole population". I had to think long and hard but eventually cranked out a substitute that passed. Those words of his keep coming back to me.
Articles are often written for intellectuals. I think the writers need to start writing for those that WE-NEED-TO-GET-TO. Most do not read at all and that's how we got ruled by despots. Most cannot understand what you write. It's-gotta-be-super-easy and with words everyone will understand.
While looking more into Russia, I came across a writer that really cut-to-the-chase simply and quite-elegantly. I could even read after a puff. Xavier Lerma. We need his kind of writing if we're to have an informed public. Maybe certain publications can retain the big word flavor so we can delight in descriptions that surpass the typical verbiage, but not most. Most out there cannot locate a single country other than theirs on the map. I kid you not.
