Society's Child
Mary Katherine Pursley, a teacher at Mt. Bethel Elementary, said at a tribunal hearing Monday at the Cobb school district office that the child was screaming and upset at an after-school program and she was attempting to get him to stop by holding him over a trash can to "shake out the grouchy.""My intention was not to put him all the way in the can," Pursley told a panel of former educators at the hearing, who will decide if she's dismissed from her job with the school district. "I was sort of shaking him over the trash can."
Attorneys for the school system argued Pursley "engaged in inappropriate physical contact" with the student and she should be dismissed from her position at Mt. Bethel. Pursley has been with the school district for 21 years and has been on administrative leave with pay following the April 30 incident.
Pursley, 45, who was arrested and charged with cruelty to children in the first degree, is accused of talking with the "victim about Oscar the Grouch and his 'trashy behavior' " during the after-school program, Pursley's arrest warrant states. "The accused told the victim, 'If he had trashy behavior like Oscar, he'd go to the trash can'."Pursley then allegedly picked up the child by his legs, held him upside down and put him head-first into a trash can, according to police. The boy was crying, screaming and yelling "stop" while Pursley held him, the arrest warrant states. She then set him down on the floor. The incident was witnessed by two paraprofessionals and the school's after-school director. Other students in the classroom also witnessed Pursley's actions, according to police.
The tribunal panel is expected to make a decision by Friday regarding Pursley's dismissal, according to a spokeswoman with the Cobb school system.

This one doesn't compare to putting a plastic bag over a kids head.... This reminds me of old folks in nursing homes... similar situation... their families have no idea of the reality of the situation... spend some time there, a few weeks everyday and get a feel of what it's like, same with these special needs kids.... spend some time as a helper/assistant and see the reality of the situation when some of these kids 'explode'. It could have been worse of course, and the cops would be called and we know how those stories end.
I liked the Oscar thing... as it's an example of behavior that kids can understand and relate to visually if they've seen the show on tv at home or in the classroom. If she's been there 21 years dealing with kids like these, as in special needs who can blow up at the drop of a hat, then without better data, I'm more willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. If the kid had that reaction of crying, then that sounds like a positive starting point to learn appropriate behavior in the classroom, one filled with other kids with probably similar problems, but if it's a normal classroom and he's the odd kid in there, then there are more issues here for him and the teacher, the school district and the family dealing with him at home.
Too little data in this report to form any real opinion.

There seems to be so much cases of adult women behaving very bad against children particularly against boys it seems.
Also this may be just the tip of the iceberg, since there are so much reports about women who rape, torture, torment, killing little boys in most ghoulish and gruesome ways, sometimes mothers doing so on their own sons also.
Its like little boys are the favorite victims of women(since it happens too much to be "coincidence" or "unique")
Maybe there is something like "satanic connection",we dont know about yet?
btw: nowadays are very bad times for children in general, there is no doubt about it.
