Having the city's logo on them, the stickers read: "exclusively for white people," and were put on at least six businesses.
The racist remarks were discovered by passersby, employees and business owners.
Brianna Smith was walking by a store this week when she spotted one.
"This just goes to show racism is very much alive TODAY," she wrote on her Facebook page. "And by this being sponsored by the city of Austin absolutely DISGUST me."
Having the city's logo on them, the stickers read: "exclusively for white people," and were put on at least six businesses.
At a local bake shop, April Jensen was working and notice something on the front door that read "exclusively for white people," with an offensive message underneath, also having a city logo on it.
"My reaction was basically shock and confusion. I was a little hurt," Jensen said.
Austin Mayor Steve Adler issued a statement, condemning this racist act and denying the city's sponsorship or giving anyone the authority to use its logo.
"This is an appalling and offensive display of ignorance in the city," the statement read.
The statement also acknowledged that the businesses that were defaced with the stickers "neither made, nor knowingly displayed them."
State lawmakers took to Facebook to expressed displeasure with the event.
"Some jokes are not funny," State Rep. Dawnna Dukes (D-Austin) wrote. "If this is a joke at all, it is tasteless. ... I will be damned if this will occur in my House District ... in this historical black community or any community."
Many people believe an outsider is behind these racist stickers.
"Doesn't seem like in a Texan's nature to want to hurt our small businesses on the east side," Windmill Bicycles shop owner said.
Austin has seen some demographic transformations within the past 15 years. According to Census Bureau data, the African-American population in East Austin has drastically decreased from 1990 to 2000, from 80% to less than 20% in some areas.
Austin Police are currently investigating. Those caught posting the stickers will face graffiti charges, according to police.

getting a 'revolution' started in the States these days aren't easy, as so many decades and billions of dollars have been spent putting them to sleep. As Bush Jr said: "It's hard work!"
No revolutions for America, I'm afraid.
Besides, that's what all that militarizing of police forces all across the US is about, just in case the sheeples finally collectively choke, gag, and look up.
But the MSM is so very, very tasty, I suspect they'll just keep munching away, happily, until the (very) bitter end......
These stickers could have been posted by Black Panthers, in hopes of rallying prospective members towards activism. Or not! Don't be so quick to judge.
Hi Scott.
If you are referring to my original post (which it would appear you are), please point out where I 'rushed to blame' ANYONE for posting those unbelievably RACIST stickers. I was only drawing attention to how the responses of the mayor and the businessman appeared to me to care more for votes or business profits and not so much about the hurt feelings of the members of the black community who encountered them. But that's just my opinion. And reasonable minds can clearly differ here. I could be totally wrong, and it certainly wouldn't be the first time, nor the last.
But as for whether the Black Panthers posted those stickers in a false flag operation, well, we all know how much those Black Panthers are prone to false flags, don't we?
Yes, those damned Black Panthers are always going around doing false flags.
You know, like 9/11, a clear and unequivocal Black Panther operation as well. Simply unmistakable.
Or the terrible Charlie Hebdo massacre, another Black Panther false flag, this time across the pond. (Damn them and their incredible swimming abilities!)
Or "Operation Gladio". (They really must hate the Europeans, don't they?)
Or planning "Operation Northwoods". (They didn't get to carry it out, but darned if they didn't try. Thank Dog the American Joint Chiefs of Staff stopped that cold. Hooray!)
Or the Gulf of Tonkin false flag attack (Man, those Panthers really get around with their false flags, don't they? Even 'Nam.)
Or the horrifying false flag on the USS Liberty that cold-bloodedly killed over 30 American sailors. (And they tried to pin it on poor little Israel, but LBJ sure put them in their place didn't he?)
Yes, the Black Panther party has an ugly history of false flags everywhere.
Oh, wait. Those were all done by WHITE PEOPLE.
Silly me......
So I just want to ask: what have you got against the Black Panther Party such that you would completely misconstrue the obvious meaning of my original post, suggest a conclusion that I never made whatsoever, and then openly smear the Black Panther Party through naming them directly as being a possible perpetrator when NO ONE mentioned who might be responsible?
Please recall, my original post was simply just what my opinion was of the reactions of people cited, indicated by inference from their statements as reported in the story? (And as I said, it was just my opinion, and that's all it was, nothing more.)
Guess you don't like the Black Panther Party, do you?
(Or are you really a secret member, and this is just ANOTHER of their insidious false flags?) ;-)
This quote is from an article I read on Sott.net. Here's the link.
[Link]
The rally was March 16 in Austin, Texas.
The stickers may have been placed there March 18th or 19th, in Austin, Texas.
You can't deny that the two events are most likely linked. We do not know who is responsible.
We do know who is responsible: the real power behind the US government, who are of course the white and wealthy East Coast Establishment owners of the country. They're prepping the population for a violent lockdown.
a lot of ex-cons are being paid to work the other side. the dark side. just like the jews who helped facilitate the holocaust. my high school aged daughter just studied militarism. which is exactly what obama is putting in place today. problem is.....there are no takers. except the scum calling for action and the fools still protesting (both black and white). or should i say paid actors. i hope this nation, all colors, is smart enough to stay home. perhaps the elite will tire of themselves.
If anyone else pointed this out, I apologize...
Take careful note of that first picture in the article: the reflection of a car, which is an antique automobile by today's standards. If I had to guess I'd say something American-made in the 1950's. That to me is indicative of a potential false-flag incident, more than likely someone associated with an alphabet-agency.
TPTB have been trying to provoke a race-war for about as long as O'Bomber's been in office. At the least, this is just a distraction
from more important matters.
A PERSON WHO SPENDS EVERY WAKING HOUR CHEWING UP HEADLINES IN FRONT OF A COMPUTER SCREEN MAY BE PRONE TO SOUNDING LIKE THEY ARE JUST SPEWING OUT CHEWED UP HEADLINES FROM A COMPUTER SCREEN.
Some of you SOTT readers really need to go out and get a girlfriend or something.
The stickers are a false-flag….[Link]

"This is an appalling and offensive display of ignorance in the city", says the Mayor of Austin, Steve Adler.
Ignorance? Hardly.
It is pure, unadulterated RACISM, and of the vilest variety.
Yet Mayor Adler apparently refused to call it what it patently is, and instead substituted the utterly lame and frankly idiotic word, "ignorance". What the hell is 'ignorant' about a openly racist, hurtful statement?
Looks like Mr Adler doesn't want to offend the racist voters of his constituency, so he sugar-coated his inadequate condemnation.
Be a mensch, Mayor Adler, and stand up against racism, PLEASE! Ignorance is forgivable, but racism is NOT!
Call it what it is. Please.
(Well, at least he also said it was "appalling" and "offensive", so he gets a couple of brownie points for those.)
But also check out what was said by a local Austin businessman:
"Doesn't seem like in a Texan's nature to want to hurt our small businesses on the east side," Windmill Bicycles shop owner said.
Yes, yes, it is ALL about NOT hurting 'business' on the east side, isn't it? Nothing about the black people's feelings, or the civil rights of the black community to be free from open racism that violates various statutes, Federal and (hopefully) State, especially against discrimination in food, lodging or accommodations, eh? What if it actually BENEFITTED the business? Would it then be right and proper, no problem at all? Are segregated lunch counters next, if they increase profits?
These folks are all saying things that hide thinly veiled acceptance of racism for personal benefit.
I would say, "Only in Texas", but I believe this spectre haunts more than just the Lone Star state in America today.
An "Anti-Racism Manifesto" needs to be promulgated and distributed widely, one that accurately and honestly starts with, "A spectre is haunting America --the spectre of RACISM!"
Open racism has returned to the South, has it? Never left, did it? Just went into hiding for a while. But like so many American spectres and ghosts, it can now openly and widely say with apparent impunity,
"I'm b-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-c-k!"
