Journalists were lighting the torches and toting pitchforks when Jill Abramson was fired from the New York Times over wage discrimination, but Chelsea Clinton might tip the scales the other way with her enormous salary for doing nothing:

Chelsea Clinton had a $600,000 annual contract with NBC but has recently switched over to a month-to-month arrangement in case her mother runs for president.
...She joined the network as a special correspondent with a three-month trial period starting in November 2011 before she was signed on full time.

The segments that she worked on showed up largely on the now-defunct Rock Center with Brian Williams, and her most recent coverage aired on Nightly News but her last contribution came in January.

Not bad work if you can get it, but some are taking to social media to register their outrage!

If you want to see a lot of people who get paid a lot for doing nothing, all you need is to look at the Congress.
If you want to see a lot of people who get paid a lot for causing a lot of harm and doing no good, look at the CEOs of Monsanto and other corporations.
Making millions by doing nothing is not that bad in a country where people make millions by murdering other people, stealing taxpayer money, and destroying the world.

Good Business Decision

Since neither NBC nor Comcast (NBC's owner) are taxpayer funded entities, they are free to pay employees, incompetent or not, whatever they please.

However, I strongly suspect that this is NOT just "buying a name". I see this as a perfect example of bribery/lobbying for influence with people who have (and will retain) power and/or connections in gov't -- while not a formal contract, Bill and Hillary are expected to use their contacts and not inconsiderable influence to make sure that laws, regulations, and policy decisions emanating from gov't work to NBC/Comcast's advantage. And, giving the money to Chelsea instead of Bill and Hillary not only makes the entire setup perfectly legal, but it gives everyone involved plausible deniability against potential accusations of buying/selling of influence.

I'm quite certain that virtually all big companies and organizations do similar with spouses, children, and friends of those with the ability to influence gov't policies. And, of course, the brain-dead American public never recognizes the systemic rot and corruption of the governing establishment that is staring them in the face.
