They may not 'trigger' natural disasters, but with the ring of fire as active as it is right now and recently has been, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of something major occurring because of this event.

Dead fish before quakes
The same phenomenon happened before the 1999 Golcuk quake in Turkey on19th of August, at the western bay opening to Marmara Sea. Also the fishermen pulled their fishing nets after the quake and noticed that they were burned. There was a solar eclipse that same month on the 11th.

There was also a partial lunar eclipse on 28th of Julay 1999. Maybe there was a connection with the earthquake in Turkey and the eclipses.

SDA.... the Great Judgement is mostly cosmic. The Book of Revelation is a great read, don't get me wrong, but I would recommend that you 'think outside the Book' and do a little deeper research into cosmology and earth's geology to gain a better perspective on just how delicate the balance between the 2 are and how they affect we mere dust-spec species known as humans. Think. Study. Gain knowledge. Was it not Jesus Himself who warned "And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." (Matt 15:14). Besides.... look at the bright side! If you firmly believe in the 'rapture' hocus-pocus, you won't be around to experience it anyway. Toodles!

Most all the people who continue to visit this news website do so because they want to be informed about the reality of things. They are not interested in fairy tales or flimflam religious drivel.

tsunami??
My question goes to all who knows and understands how this work...but if we were to have a major quake in southern california, a tsunami will follow the quake?and if so, how far in land would it reach? like what areas? would scientists be able to tell? I am jst so concerned about this quake we might be having...!!

I guess that depends on how high the wave is when it hits land, and how high the land is next to the coast. It also depends on where the quake happens and how powerful it is. I think what devastates many areas hit by tsunamis is that the area close by to the sea is flat rather than hilly or mountainous. The tsunami just goes straight inland.
I don't know much about the geography of Southern California. But it may be possible that if a quake happens in that area, that the main concern may be for the damage caused to man made structures.

Well, I am not an expert in tsunamis, but I guess It will depend on the intensity of the earthquake plus altitude of coastal areas. High cliffs in the coast might mitigate it. And mountains near the coast might stop the ocean from going farther inland. If not, it will be similar to other cases, maybe 10 or 20 kmts inland?

And it is not just the coast that is dangerous, living or being anywhere along a river or waterway that empties into the ocean will be effected at a distance much much greater than low and flat coastal land.

It is the same type of system as the one off Japan and off Sumatra in that it will need a 9.0+ to unlock it and allow the oceanic plate to slide under the continmental plate. This area will cause a large tsunami.
The part of CA that is VERY overdue for a rupture is the Southern San Andreas which goes from Parkfield to the Gulf of California - the last time it ruptured was 1857. To give you an idea of how big this quake would be (seismologists predict better than 8.1), the 1906 San Fran quake moved the plate 8 metres; So. San An. is out of whack over 11 metres. That is a LOT of land movement so such a quake would last about 4 minutes or longer. It is inland, however, so there should be no tsunami.
The San Fran region of San Andreas has been creeping for years so it might not start a rupture there but a rupture from the So. San An. would create a shock wave which would reverberate up the fault line.
It is a good time perhaps to take that long awaited vacation to the Amazon!

I never thought had 'negative' thoughts or conclusions regarding Sott.Net because you had these topic. So, I was disappointed when you changed your coverage soon after your web site became much more pleasing to the eye. But I continued to read the headlines of all the articles.
Although I did read books for a few years when younger on some of these topics, I tend to ignore or repel such ideas, unlike religion which I reject outwardly, vocally and when confronted or faced with those who 'believe' (I like the definition of 'believe' which really does fit 'religion' : http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/believe) in order to explain phenomenon/events or to infer coming events.

Trouble is...the claims that HAARP is a weather/earthquake machine are pure dis-info. That's not to say they don't have technology that can control the weather and produce earthquakes etc (my gut instinct is that the recent earthquake in Japan was not man made though).
HAARP is purely mind control...more specifically mood control. The PTB use it to make the populous anxious, or passive, angry or docile.....and that is why there is so much on HAARP being something that controls the weather or earthquakes....to distract from this (rather chilling) fact...that HAARP plays our moods/mind like a musical instrument daily.

Make sure you and your children have a phone number of someone well out of your area to call to say they are alive. Local calls won't go through. Put comfortable shoes in that cache because you may have to walk a long long way to reach your kids or your loved ones.
