The Lionrock typhoon, which battered Russia's Maritime in the Far East, has wreaked the worst havoc in 40 years, head of the Chuguyev district Anatoly Baskakov said.

The destruction is twice as devastating as the Judy typhoon disaster back in 1989.

"I have been living here for 40 years. This is the worst flood here since Judy back in 1989," he told TASS. "This year's flood is double the damage that Judy had left in its wake. It is seen from the level of water, which flooded houses up to their roofs, windows, which has swept away belongings, appliances, cars. The gushing flows are huge: 4% of our territory are covered by hills - and now they all are rushing down into the valley, where settlements are. In the Yasnoye settlement, the water level rose 2 meters above the critical line.

On Wednesday afternoon blocks of ice still littered the parking lot near West 72nd Avenue and Pecos Street, closing down the KFC, and leaving long-time residents like Alan Bell in disbelief.

"I mean it just busted loose," Bell told CBS4's Tom Mustin. "It just started piling up on cars and everything else. You can see I have natural camouflage now."

Tuesday's hailstorm flooded the parking lot of Five Stars Auto Sales, submerging cars, and sending a foot of water inside the building.

"Never seen anything like this before," said owner Maria Vasquez.

She arrived on Wednesday to soaked file cabinets and submerged floors.

"I wasn't expecting it to be this bad to be honest. Paperwork, titles, it's really bad."

As two hurricanes and a tropical storm hover near the US, NASA has created a mindblowing time-lapse video which shows the true beauty of heavy winds and pouring rains from space.

Lester, Madeline and Gaston have targeted American coasts in recent days, making their ways around both sides - the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans.

The video, recorded from the International Space Station (ISS) more than 257 miles above the Earth, shows the eye of each storm surrounded by swirling white clouds.

Hurricane Lester, the first in the video, is still about 750 miles from Hilo, Hawaii. It continues to march to the west and is predicted to hit the island chain as early as Saturday, bringing heavy rains with it.

The National Hurricane Centre says winds have reached 80 miles per hour and will surge when Hermine reaches the coast

Floridians await the arrival of the first hurricane in more than a decade heads toward land at "life-threatening" speeds.

The National Hurricane Centre said violent winds from Hurricane Hermine reached 80 miles per hour Thursday night, and will likely increase by the time it hits the shore early Friday morning.

Hermine is expected to strike in the Big Bend area on the northeast edge of the Gulf of Mexico.

Florida Gov Rick Scott urged residents to move inland before Hermine reached land, warning of dangerous wind speeds, downed trees, and power outages, reminded people to make sure they were equipped with supplies, like food, water, and medicine.

"This is a life-threatening situation," Mr Scott said in his address. "It's going to be a lot of risk. Right now, I want everybody to be safe."

Colorado Springs uses snowplows to clean up heaps of hail

Hail as deep as two feet lies in the front yards of home along Logan Avenue between Platte Avenue and Bijou Street after a storm hit Colorado Springs, Colo., Monday, Aug. 29, 2016.
© Christian Murdock/The GazetteHail as deep as two feet lies in the front yards of home along Logan Avenue between Platte Avenue and Bijou Street after a storm hit Colorado Springs, Colo., Monday, Aug. 29, 2016.
A strong summer storm that walloped Colorado Springs forced authorities to rescue people from their stranded cars and move heaps of hail with snowplows.

More rain is possible Tuesday after the deluge Monday flooded roadways and left hail piled up on sidewalks. Eight people were rescued from their cars after they got stuck in the deep water, and hail swamped a basement apartment.

National Weather Service meteorologist Eric Peterson tells The Gazette of Colorado Springs that 2 to 3 inches of rain fell on some parts of the already soggy city. Most areas got between 1 and 2 inches Sunday, leaving the ground saturated before the latest storm hit.

An area near Peterson Air Force Base got just over 4 inches of rain between Sunday and Monday evening.
