Heavy rainfall has led to hundreds of flooded buildings and roads in central Sweden that continue to disrupt traffic on Thursday.
The highest levels of rain fell in Tullinge in Botkyrka, and in Södertälje: 58 millimetres had fallen in the 24 hours leading up to Wednesday evening, according to weather agency SMHI.
Several roads have been flooded and on Thursday morning, in the six regions where an SMHI warning was in place, around 20 roads were affected by floods. The worst affected regions are Stockholm and Örebro, according to the Swedish Transport Administration.

Flooding has affected almost 60,000 residents of Bandung Regency, West Java Province, Indonesia. Thousands of homes have been inundated.
According to the the regional disaster management agency, light to heavy rainfall from 24 May caused the Citarum River and tributaries to overflow, flooding areas of Dayeuhkolot, Baleendah, Bojongsoang, and Margarahayu sub-districts of Bandung Regency. Flood waters were up to 2.5 metres deep in some places. Many affected areas were previously flooded in January and again in March this year.

China is bracing for a heavy flood season with 71 rivers already exceeding warning levels, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Tuesday, as meteorological authorities warned that global warming is fuelling more extreme weather.
Rain in some parts of central and southern China has hit record highs in recent weeks even though overall precipitation is about 10% lower this year compared with last year, according to the Ministry of Water Resources.
Water levels on the Yangtze and its tributaries were expected to rise further over the next week, the ministry said, and it warned of major floods throughout the country from June to August.
Some monitoring stations are issuing alerts, with the Wuhan city section of the Yangtze river in central China more than two metres higher than the normal at this time of the year as a result of heavy rain upstream.
Heavy rains and howling winds are lashing eastern India as the COVID-stricken country's second cyclone in as many weeks makes landfall, killing at least three people in Odisha state and forcing more than 1.2 million people to seek shelter.
Cyclone Yaas, packing gusts of up to 140kmph (87mph), made landfall at about 9am local time (03:30 GMT) on Wednesday, destroying tens of thousands of houses, forcing the closure of the busiest regional airport in the city of Kolkata, and bringing storm surges to coastal areas.
In Odisha, one person died in Keonjhar district's Panchapalli village and another in Balasore district after trees fell on them, local officials told Al Jazeera. In the state's Mayurbhanj district, the dead body of a 15-year-old boy was found in a pond at Jagannath Khunta village by a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team.

Severe weather in Guatemala from 21 to 24 May 2021 affected over 10,000 people and damaged more than 200 homes across the departments of Baja Verapaz, Izabal, Petén, Quetzaltenango, San Marcos, Santa Rosa, Sololá and Suchitepéquez, disaster officials said.
According to reports from the country's disaster agency CONRED, severe weather including heavy rain, landslides, flash floods, coastal flooding and strong winds, affected a total of 10,571 people, displaced 483, injured 1 person and damaged 217 homes.
Heavy rain on 22 May caused flooding and mudflows in the department of Quetzaltenango, leaving a total of 1,300 affected, 300 people evacuated and 50 homes damaged. Videos shared on Social Media showed dramatic images of flood waters flowing through streets in Almolonga municipality. Quetzaltenango department had seen heavy rain and flooding the previous week when 235 people were affected, mostly in San Miguel Sigüilá, 15 to 16 May.
Landslides triggered by heavy downpour on Sunday killed three people and left a child injured in the western Ugandan district of Kasese, a humanitarian relief agency said here.
Irene Nakasiita, spokesperson for the Uganda Red Cross Society said in a statement that two children were killed and another injured after a landslide partially destroyed a family house at Katulu village. The injured child has been referred to Kilembe Hospital.
The spokesperson said a body of a 60-year-old woman was recovered at Katiri, along River Nyamwamba after it was carried out by running water from senior quarters in Kasese town.
"Red Cross action teams (have been) deployed to support the police in responding to this disaster," said Nakasiita.

Over 5,000 people have been forced from their homes after days of flooding in East Malaysia.
Malaysia's National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) reported flooding in parts of Sabah State from 17 May 2021. Areas in the neighbouring state of Sarawak were flooded from 20 May.
In Sabah, 4,221 people were displaced in Tenom district and 574 people in Beaufort district as of 22 May, 2021. NADMA said 42 evacuation centres have been set up to house those displaced.
Officials in Colombia report that over 30,000 people have been affected by floods and landslides across the country over the past 2 weeks. Three people have died and 5 were injured. Around 8 houses were destroyed and at least 2,500 damaged.
The worst of the flooding was in La Virginia municipality of Risaralda Department. On 18 May 2021, Civil Defence reported 800 homes were damaged and 4,000 people affected after the Risaralda and Cauca rivers broke their banks. As of 18 May the Cauca at La Virginia stood at 5.34 metres, which is above orange (2nd of 3) alert level. Areas of Santuario, Dosquebradas and Balboa municipalities also suffered flooding during this time. The government of Risaralda declared an emergency on 19 May and in a statement said that around 20,000 people from 5,000 families were affected and 510 people were staying in shelters in La Virginia.
In Meta Department almost 5,400 people have been affected and 1,100 homes damaged by flooding in various municipalities. On 10 May 2,500 people were affected by floods in Puerto Lleras. During the following days flooding struck in Cabuyaro and Puerto López. The Meta river at Puerto Lopez was above Red (highest) alert levels at 8.73 metres. On 18 May flooding affected 1,000 residents of El Castillo and 150 in Fuente De Oro.
A record 119.3 mm of rainfall pounded Delhi under the impact of cyclonic storm Tauktae and a western disturbance in 24 hours ending 8:30 am on Thursday, breaking all the previous records for May, the IMD said on Thursday.
The city had also recorded a maximum temperature of 23.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, 16 notches below normal and the lowest in the month of May since 1951, it said.
"A record 119.3 mm rain fell in Delhi between 8:30 am on Wednesday and 8:30 am on Thursday, which is a new record for May. The capital had recorded 60 mm rainfall in a 24-hour period on May 24 in 1976," an Kuldeep Srivastava, the head of India Meteorological Department's regional forecasting Centre said.
The rainfall in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, northern Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Wednesday was a result of interaction between the remnant of cyclonic storm Tauktae and a western disturbance, the IMD said.
Rainfall recorded below 15 mm is considered light, between 15 and 64.5 mm is moderate, between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm is heavy, between 115.6 and 204.4 is very heavy. Anything above 204.4 mm is considered extremely heavy rainfall.
Comment: Ash from volcanic eruptions, together with particulates from meteor 'smoke' and wildfire smoke, all jointly contribute to the increased dust load in the atmosphere. This changes its electric charge rebalancing mechanisms, producing more intense storms and precipitation in the form of record rainfall, hail, lightning strikes, planetary cooling, atmospheric 'anomalies' etc.
