England: Congleton, Cheshire - Large, fiery orange, globe-shaped object

Date of Sighting: 4th July 2009
Time: 10.40pm

Witness Statement: Outside having a cig with brother-n-law when we saw what looked like a very bright orange light in the sky off to the south (a few miles away). At first thought it was a helicopter with search light shinning in our direction but soon realised that it wouldn't of been anywhere near the size and it would of had a white light not orange. It then started to move at speed towards us (faster than a plane as we see these all the time over the house), it was completely silent. I went and got my binoculars and 4 other family members. We all witnessed the light stopping right above us just below the height of the clouds . We used the binoculars but couldn't make out any features except for a fiery orange globe shape. After about a minute it started to move off slowly increasing in height until it disappeared from view heading North.

Multicoloured UFO filmed in China - Hoax?

Changsha, the capital city of Hunan Province has had more than its fair share of UFO events. Earlier this year in April, All News Web posted a story about a UFO that was seen above the city twice in two days. This event received extensive media coverage within China. Since then there have been at least half a dozen UFO sightings by residents of the city.

I knew Dick Hall through letters in the 1960s and 1970s. He was a ufologist (something, really, of a "ufo nerd," if you know what I mean, with appreciation), although I experienced him as an open-minded Fortean, as well. Still others knew him more personally than I did, and I expect tributes to be forthcoming from those in ufology, for Richard H. Hall was a pivotal historical character.

We've lost another one, and I'll introduce him to those who do not know the name as well that of John A. Keel, who died July 3rd.

Richard H. Hall was a leading ufologist and proponent of the extraterrestrial hypothesis to explain UFO sightings; he had also written numerous books and articles dealing with the role of women in the American Civil War. On the morning of July 17, 2009, Richard Hall passed away due to a long battle with cancer, according to ufologist Jerome Clark and anomalist Patrick Huyghe, who just informed me of this fact.

US: Arizona Woman catches on fire outside Peoria rehabilitation center

A 42-year-old female caught on fire Wednesday morning outside a Peoria rehabilitation center near Plaza del Rio Boulevard and Thunderbird Road, police spokesman Mike Tellef said.

The victim had life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, Tellef said.

Employees found the woman sitting on an outside patio engulfed in flames, Tellef said. Police are unsure how she caught on fire.

Previous reports that she was using oxygen and smoking were inaccurate, Tellef said

US: UFO over Oklahoma beams light to ground; jets give chase

The UFO Traffic Report for Friday, July 17, 2009, includes 12 selected sightings over 12 states, according to witness statements filed in the past 48 hours with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

Today's stories include: An interesting case out of Oklahoma where the object beamed light to the ground area where the witnesses were standing, and then three jets moved in as though they were giving chase; and triangle-shaped cases over Texas and New Mexico.

In other News: Colorado MUFON Director Leslie Varnicle offers an update to a March 22 sighting - Metallic UFO hovers over Colorado highway. "The two assigned FI have attempted to contact this witness but have received no response so the case has been closed out as UNKNOWN." Varnicle says they allowed a "longer than usual" response time from the witnesses, and they also searched for additional witnesses. For the moment, this closes out MUFON Case # 17400. Varnicle says she will report back if additional details become available.

We seem to hear and read quite a bit about "disclosure" in the media nowadays in reference to unconventional and unidentified flying objects (UFOs).

Some people say we must lobby for the release of government-held information so that the American and international public can understand what, if anything, is going on.

Are there important new discoveries? Are there threats to the human race? How might the government be handling unconventional scenarios?

Reports of sphere-shaped UFOs have become more popular recently, according to witness testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.

A series of reports was made recently describing three spheres connected by metal-looking rods, in Sphere UFO reported by three witnesses in two states, Video: Another sphere-triangle UFO witness comes forward, and Michigan 'cluster of lights' may be another sphere-triangle UFO.

An astonishing UFO sighting took place last Friday July 10 at close to midnight in the city of Ulan-Ude in Siberia. Ulan-Ude is the capital of the Buryat republic and is only 100km south-east of Lake Baikal: A famous UFO hot-spot where an underwater UFO base is believed to be located.

Two seemingly joined glowing red spheres were seen rising over the city and hovering above it before separating and circling the city. After a few minutes the spheres shot up to space. Numerous Ulan Ude residents saw the event and many ran out on the street to take a closer look. Some could not believe what they saw and were heard making expressions of amazement.

England: UFO sighted over Otterton

Sceptics who have dismissed the idea of UFO activity ever lurking in our skies may have to reconsider their belief after a fresh sighting - this time in Otterton.

A man called Spencer, from Hampshire, was on holiday in Ladram Bay last week and noticed six bright orange lights moving at speed. He reported what he had seen on the Exmouth Journal website.

His report makes the third sighting in three months.

He said: "I spotted six very bright lights. They appeared over the course of five minutes and moved in a north-to-south direction at high speed over the channel and then faded.

"Five of the six followed exactly the same flight path. They were flying above the prevailing cloud cover and at some point they faded slightly."

Location of Sighting: Dolan Springs, Arizona (NW Arizona About 50 MI SE of Las Vegas)

Description: I saw a reflected light that was half of the size of the ISS (International Space Station). The light was on course from north-northeast to south-southwest in a straight line course. There were no blinking lights, no change in direction or course across the sky. I heard no sound or other indications that it was a normal aircraft. It was the wrong direction of travel to be the space shuttle or space station. It faded out in an area of about 25 to 30 degrees above the horizon.
