Date of Sighting: 15th July 2009
Time: 10.30 - 11pm
Witness Statement: I let the dog out for a wee and looked up and saw what at first I thought was a meteorite as it was an orangey reddish flame coloured circle/sphere tracking north east across the sky. It was difficult to judge the size or height and I realised it had no tail/trail that one would expect from a meteor. It was a quiet night yet there was no sound emanating from it. I'm learning to fly and am interested in aircraft and always look out for passing easyjets etc. but this was no plane and wasn't on the east midlands airport flight path. After it passed over the roof I ran into the garden to follow it further and saw it continue on a steady path.
