Vegans take the most sick days off work due to cold, flu and minor ailments, according to a new report
Vegans take the most sick days off work due to cold, flu and minor ailments, according to a new report.

The study found that they are absent through illness for almost five days a year, which is twice the annual total of the average Briton.

And while the reasons for the high sick-day count are unclear, two-thirds of vegans admitted to taking more time off work due to minor illness in 2018 than in previous years.

Comment: Well knock us over with a feather! How could the wonder-diet that is veganism possibly lead to more illness?!

Scientists confirm elderberry beats the flu, prevents colds & strengthens immunity

Elderberry
Scientists have discovered that elderberry has been known to man since the prehistoric era, and elderberry recipes were commonly used as natural medicines in ancient Egypt.

Hippocrates, the "father of medicine" from ancient Greece depicted it as his "medicine chest" because of its numerous health benefits.

The elderberry juice has been used as hair dye by the Romans, and the wood of the elderberry tree has been used to make combs, toys, pegs for shoemakers, needles for weaving musical instruments, and skewers for butchers. The Native Americans used this plant as a natural cure, body paint, ink, for jewelry and musical instruments, hunting whistles, and much more.

During the 1995 Panama flu epidemic, the government used it as a natural way to fight the flu, and it reduced its severity and thus helped to end the epidemic.

The great cholesterol deception

doctors
Millions of Australians are prescribed cholesterol-lowering drugs - statins like Pravachol®, Zocor® and Lipitor® - each year at a cost of more than $1 billion dollars with very little, if any, benefit. In the US, some 40 million people currently take statins at a cost of more than $3.00 per pill, more than $1,000 per year, totalling more than $40 billion a year.

While there are many exaggerated claims and a lot of hype about the benefits of statins, there are also many studies showing no benefits at all. The pro-statin hype is based on the misuse and abuse of statistics.

Various independent studies in prestigious, peer-reviewed journals have shown that statin use in primary prevention - that is, to save lives - has minimal or no value in reducing mortality and certainly nothing that is considered anywhere near clinically significant to warrant their widespread use. It does not matter how one manipulates the statistics, the results just aren't there.

Marijuana

Is marijuana as safe as we think?

Permitting pot is one thing; promoting its use is another.

A few years ago, the National Academy of Medicine convened a panel of sixteen leading medical experts to analyze the scientific literature on cannabis. The report they prepared, which came out in January of 2017, runs to four hundred and sixty-eight pages. It contains no bombshells or surprises, which perhaps explains why it went largely unnoticed. It simply stated, over and over again, that a drug North Americans have become enthusiastic about remains a mystery.

For example, smoking pot is widely supposed to diminish the nausea associated with chemotherapy. But, the panel pointed out, "there are no good-quality randomized trials investigating this option." We have evidence for marijuana as a treatment for pain, but "very little is known about the efficacy, dose, routes of administration, or side effects of commonly used and commercially available cannabis products in the United States." The caveats continue. Is it good for epilepsy? "Insufficient evidence." Tourette's syndrome? Limited evidence. A.L.S., Huntington's, and Parkinson's? Insufficient evidence. Irritable-bowel syndrome? Insufficient evidence. Dementia and glaucoma? Probably not. Anxiety? Maybe. Depression? Probably not.

How sugar, alcohol and caffeine affect inflammation

inflammation
We know by now that chronic inflammation is a culprit for almost every single disease on the planet. Even though there are many factors that drive inflammation, the food and beverages we have each day are some of the biggest culprits. Chronic inflammation affects the gut, but eventually, it also becomes systemic, which means that it affects almost every organ in the body.

Many people start their day with caffeine (stimulant) and end their day with relaxants (such as wine, beer or other comfort foods). People believe that this will help them to cope with stress, help them to get through their day and they, therefore, repeat the cycle over and over again. We also tend to have more and more sugar throughout the day, often included in sneaky sources such as ketchup and sweetened almond milk. These things all have a cumulative effect on inflammation-let's look at the three major foods/beverages that cause inflammation: alcohol, caffeine and sugar

Marijuana

New research shows marijuana can alter DNA in sperm

New research shows that THC affects epigenetics, triggering structural and regulatory changes in the DNA of users' sperm.

As legal access to marijuana continues expanding across the US, more scientists are studying the effects of its active ingredient, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), in teens, adults, and pregnant women.

The new study suggests men in their child-bearing years should also consider how THC could affect their sperm and possibly the children they conceive during periods when they've been using the drug, much like previous research that has shown tobacco smoke, pesticides, flame retardants, and even obesity can alter sperm.

Comment: With the push towards legalization of marijuana, many have been insistent that the drug has no negative repercussions. But people need to be sensible about this and look into possible side effects. Yes, there are medicinal benefits, but this doesn't mean it's harmless. Anyone wishing to conceive who indulges in marijuana use should weigh the costs and benefits appropriately.

Vaccine shot killed famed cancer doctor in minutes from "total organ failure", state-run media desperately tries to cover it up

Dr. Martin Gore
Dr. Martin Gore
Dr. Martin Gore, a widely celebrated cancer doctor credited with "saving thousands of lives" died from "total organ failure" just minutes after receiving a vaccine shot yesterday. Dr. Gore was a professor of cancer medicine at the Institute of Cancer Research based in London. He "died suddenly yesterday after a routine inoculation for yellow fever," reports The Times (UK).

"His death highlights the increased risks associated with the vaccine for the growing number of older travellers visiting exotic destinations," the paper explains.

It also underscores the horrific price of believing in Big Pharma, chemotherapy and vaccines. Throughout his career, Dr. Gore oversaw the harming of tens of thousands of children who were subjected to toxic chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Ultimately, he was killed by his own false belief in the safety of vaccines, another weaponized form of toxic medicine. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

So far, the U.S. media has completely blacked out the story in yet another effort to silence any truth about the deadly dangers of vaccines. There isn't a single establishment news outlet in the United States that has accurately reported on this vaccine-induced sudden death of a cancer doctor. In truth, vaccines kill people, yet the CDC-directed U.S. media pretends no one ever dies from vaccines in order to deliberately mislead the public, resulting in more people being killed by vaccine injuries.

A Newsweek propaganda piece absurdly lies that vaccination entails no health risks - and that anyone who knows better has no "faith in science"

There's a Newsweek opinion article making the rounds on social media this week that shamelessly lies to readers by communicating the message that getting vaccinated does not come with any health risks.

The very title of the piece reveals that it's nothing more than mindless vaccine propaganda: The Anti Vaxxer Movement Is Growing-We Need to Restore Faith in Science.

Straight out of an Orwellian playbook: USDA makes GMO labeling disappear

GMO labeling
© Nosh
It's official: the "mandatory" GMO labeling rule will obscure more than it makes transparent.

The USDA has released its final GMO labeling rule, and it's not good. As we feared when the agency released its proposal earlier this year, the so-called GMO labeling law will apply only to a narrow set of foods. Congress and the USDA have offered a number of loopholes and exemptions to food companies, undermining any semblance of a consumer's right to know. It's as if the USDA asked the food industry to write the rule themselves.

The problems start right at the foundation. The agency has decided to use the term "bioengineered"-a term many Americans may not be familiar with-rather than GMO. When the proposal was released, we pointed out that this is straight out of an Orwellian playbook. Many Americans know the term "GMO" and can connect it to the labeling debate-so the government decides to use a different term that sounds more innocuous. If the government was actually concerned with communicating information clearly to consumers, they would simply use the term "GMO" and not other terminology with which Americans may not be familiar.
