Question

Flashback Dr. Suzanne Humphries: Why is nobody studying Vitamin C in Whooping Cough?

vitamin C
1937 “Saturation of whooping cough patients with ascorbic acid decreases markedly the intensity, number and duration of the characteristic symptoms.”
"Just as ignorance of the law is no sound defense to legal charges brought against you, ignorance of medical fact is ultimately no sound defense for a doctor withholding valid treatment, especially when that information can be easily accessed." - Thomas Levy, MD, JD, author.
Last year I wrote a document entitled "The Vitamin C treatment of Whooping Cough" in order to meet the needs of parents who seek treatment that is safe and effective. I have first hand experience of its effectiveness and there is old literature to suggest that even low doses of Vitamin C help reduce the severity and duration of the cough.

Soil degradation in Europe: Concerns over glyphosate pass from human health to the soil

Experts say the weedkiller's impact on soil health represents a serious threat to Europe's long-term food security.

When François Peaucellier talks about soil, he sounds like a sommelier. "It's full of little leaves," says the French farmer, holding up a clod from his field. "The earth is supple and beautiful. There is a surface life that is superb."

Peaucellier, who grows cereals and vegetables on a 200-hectare farm in the Hauts-de-France region north of Paris, is part of small but growing movement of farmers who are cutting back on pesticides not so much out of concerns for human health - but because they worry about what it does to the soil.

Public attention on the risk of pesticides has focused on what chemicals like glyphosate do to human health. A U.S. federal jury last week ordered Germany's Bayer to pay more than $80 million to a man who claimed his cancer was caused by exposure to the weedkiller.

Choline and TMAO: Eggs still don't cause heart disease

eggs
© Stockbyte/Stockbyte/ThinkstockDo choline-rich eggs increase TMAO levels?
A 2013 study by published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) has proposed a new link between eggs and coronary heart disease (CHD) that doesn't involve cholesterol. A team of researchers, led by Dr. Stanley Hazen, showed that dietary choline - a nutrient found largely in eggs, beef liver, and other animal foods - is metabolized by bacteria in our gut and then converted by the liver into TMAO.

They demonstrated this with a "choline challenge:" feeding volunteers two large hard-boiled eggs (with approximately 250 mg of choline each) along with 250 mg of supplemental choline that was tagged with a heavy isotope. The isotope acts like a chemical "label" that allowed the researchers to track what happened to the choline after it was ingested. Their data did indeed show an increase in both labeled TMAO and total TMAO (in urine and blood) in the volunteers after they consumed the eggs and supplemental choline.

Comment: The cholesterol myth has run it's course, so now they're trying to tell you eggs will kill you because of TMAO. It seems the authorities will stop at nothing to try to convince that real nutrient dense foods are actually bad for you.

The vegan blogger world is in meltdown

vegan bowl
© iStockAustralia’s vegan community is quietly imploding after the last week.

A controversial video of a famous "vegan" Instagrammer eating fish was just the start of the empire's demise - now things are really imploding.

Let's talk about vegans.

No really, don't roll your eyes, we need to.

Not because they can be insufferably righteous or because they have a propensity to make everything out of cashews.

Right now there is some serious drama going on in the hardcore herbivore world and it affects us all.

Comment: It's amazing how many vegan bloggers are jumping ship on the cult after failing health. It's almost as if the diet isn't healthy.

The health benefits of passing gas (discreetly of course)

passing gas
Ever been in a situation where passing wind is going to be hugely embarrassing and you've had to hold in a fart? Let's face it - we all have.

Trying to hold it in leads to a build up of pressure and major discomfort. A build up of intestinal gas can trigger abdominal distension, with some gas reabsorbed into the circulation and exhaled in your breath. Holding on too long means the build up of intestinal gas will eventually escape via an uncontrollable fart.

The research is not clear on whether the rise in pressure in your rectum increases your chance of developing a condition called diverticulitis, where small pouches develop in the gut lining and become inflamed - or whether it doesn't matter at all.

What is flatus?

Flatus, farts and breaking wind refer to intestinal gases that enter the rectum due to the body's usual gastrointestinal processes of digestion and metabolism and then leave via the anus.

As your body digests food in the small intestine, components that can't be broken down move further along the gastrointestinal track and eventually into the large intestine called the colon.

Mega Vitamin C IV therapy successfully used to cure sepsis and flu infections - while mainstream medicine tries to suppress it

IV vitamin C

Comment: Though this article was originally published over a year ago, its assertions regarding the big push towards dangerous vaccines - and the suppression of IV vitamin C - are truer than ever...

There's a doctor in Virginia who is trying to promote IV mega-dose vitamin C for intensive care units (ICU) by lecturing to ICU doctors throughout the nation. Dr. Paul Marik was the head of the Norfolk General Hospital's ICU.

In January of 2016, out of desperation, he decided to try IV mega-dose vitamin C on a middle-aged woman dying from septic shock in his unit.

His IV "cocktail" consisted of vitamin C, thiamine (vitamin B1), and hydrocortisone. Her turn-around and recovery were so unexpectedly rapid and complete that he continued using that cocktail for sepsis victims with a very high success rate.

Dr. Marik's successful adventure out of the medical standard of care box was detailed in an earlier Health Impact News article.

Sepsis is a toxic blood condition that leads to septic shock, which shuts down organs and kills at a rate of over 800 per day. It's accepted that any type of infection could create sepsis if the immune system overreacts and creates a cytokine storm.

Septic shock is a common occurrence in ICUs, but can occur elsewhere and from different triggers. The mortality rate of septic shock victims is around 50 percent, but the numbers are more surprising. According to IV vitamin C advocate, Dr. Alpha "Berry" Fowler, an ICU head in another hospital, sepsis cases result in septic shock and 826 deaths per day in the USA.

Comment: Though not especially profitable for the drug industry, IV vitamin C is especially beneficial for people looking for a relatively inexpensive and potentially life-saving modality:

Fecal transplants yield MASSIVE breakthrough for child autism, 50% reduction in severity

Scientists are celebrating a "world-first discovery" which shows the "highest improvement" in child autism patients, using fecal transplants to massively curtail symptoms and greatly reduce suffering.

The results of the initial study involving 18 children show great promise: 83 percent of the children had "severe" autism symptoms, but just two years later, only 17 percent had "moderate" symptoms, while 44 percent fell below the threshold for "mild" autism.

The team recorded a roughly 45-percent drop in language, social, and behavioral issues in the children over the course of the study.

The initial success of the microbiota or 'fecal transfer' therapy adds further weight to the theory this, and many other, neurological conditions may be strongly connected to the gut rather than the brain.

Comment: Here are a few more telling quotes by the scientists involved in this research:
"In our original paper in 2017, we reported an increase in gut diversity together with beneficial bacteria after microbiota transfer therapy (MTT), and after two years, we observed diversity was even higher and the presence of beneficial microbes remained," says biotechnologist Dae-Wook Kang.
"Many kids with autism have gastrointestinal problems, and some studies, including ours, have found that those children also have worse autism-related symptoms," says environmental engineer Rosa Krajmalnik-Brown.

"In many cases, when you are able to treat those gastrointestinal problems, their behaviour improves," says Krajmalnik-Brown.

"The team's new publication reports that the study demonstrated that two years after treatment stopped the participants still had an average of a 58 percent reduction in GI symptoms compared to baseline."

"In addition, the parents of most participants reported a slow but steady improvement in core ASD symptoms," says Krajmalnik-Brown.

What was originally thought to be an eye infection turned out to be something far worse.

Instead of treating an infection, doctors at the University Hospital in Taiwan were shocked to find four bees embedded in the eye of a 29-year-old Taiwanese woman named He.

The bees were reportedly feeding on her tear ducts under her swollen eyelids, according to CTS News.

He had come to the hospital after experiencing severe pain in her eye.

Measles hysteria: New York City declares public health emergency over recent outbreaks

Measles vaccine
© John Woudstra
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday declared a public health emergency in a heavily Orthodox Jewish section of Brooklyn amid a growing measles outbreak.

As part of the declaration, people living in select zip codes of Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood who have not been vaccinated against measles and may have been exposed to the highly-contagious virus will now be required to get the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine.

Comment: Enforced by whom? The same people who are preventing kids in this community from going to shopping malls?

"There's no question that vaccines are safe, effective and life-saving," de Blasio said in a statement. "I urge everyone, especially those in affected areas, to get their MMR vaccines to protect their children, families and communities."

A total of 285 cases of measles have been confirmed in New York City's Orthodox Jewish community since the outbreak began last October. The vast majority of cases involved children under 18 who were not vaccinated or who had not received the required number of doses of the MMR vaccine, according to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Pumping up the herbicides: Roundup, dicamba and 2,4-D

2,4-D herbicide 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid
Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto's Roundup, is the most widely used herbicide, sprayed with unprecedented abandon throughout the world.1 The consequences of this practice are now becoming apparent, with weeds becoming increasingly resistant to it - and a jury finding in yet another landmark trial that the chemical caused cancer.

With the resistance, farmers sold a bill of goods about glyphosate are now scrambling to find a solution for uncontrollable weeds that have outsmarted the man-made chemical. The solution from agribusinesses entities is to introduce new genetically engineered (GE) crops designed to withstand not only glyphosate but also additional herbicides to kill off the weeds glyphosate leaves behind.

Enlist E3 soybeans, made by Corteva Agriscience, a division of DowDupont and seed company MS Technologies, is one of the latest, designed to tolerate glyphosate, glufosinate (another herbicide) and 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), one of the ingredients in Agent Orange, which was used to defoliate battlefields in the jungles of Vietnam, with horrendous consequences to the health of those exposed.
