Two-year-old Oklahoma City girl killed by family dog

MMMMMMMM
A two-year-old girl died after being attacked by a family dog late Tuesday night in Oklahoma City.

As reported by KOCO, Oklahoma City police responded to Northeast 26th Street and Prospect Avenue over reports of a baby that was unresponsive. When police arrived on the scene, the child was no longer breathing and had injuries consistent with a dog attack.

"This is a tough case to talk about; it involves a small child," said Dillon Quirk with the Oklahoma City Police Department. "On the surface, it looks like there was an animal inside the home, with that child. The child was attacked, which ultimately led to the death of that child," Quirk said.

"Our Crimes Against Children investigators were called, and there were other people inside the home. I don't know how many were there. They did cooperate with police," Quirk said. "More than one dog, and some other animals inside the home." Animal Welfare took custody of four pet dogs, one pet rat, and two pet lizards from the residence.

"DHS can be notified if they need to be, and then Animal Welfare responded as well, and took custody of the animal, and there were other animals in the home they took custody of," Quirk said.

For a week now, the town of Vélez in Colombia has been cut off due to a geological fault that damaged a large stretch of a highway in the department of Santander connecting to Boyacá and the Caribbean coast. So far, authorities have no solutions to restore mobility in the area.

The landslide on the Transversal del Carare highway is about 1.9 miles from where the epicenter occurred. This situation has affected over 14,000 people who are part of the Vélez community, primarily engaged in agriculture.

Various videos of the damage caused by this geological fault in the department of Santander are circulating on social media, impacting many users. On TikTok, it has been shared over 177,000 times.

The mayor, Orlando Ariza, has stated that the magnitude of the disaster exceeds the local government's response capacity, and since November 4th, they have failed to ensure the necessary humanitarian aid for the affected families and individuals, according to the portal Seguimiento.CO.

In the past, climate change has been consistently ranked as a "top concern" for people all over the world. However, that priority has shifted in recent years according to a revealing study published in October by global research firm Ipsos.

The change has been dramatic. In 2025, public concern over climate change has fallen sharply behind concerns of war and economic instability, with geopolitical turmoil and the cost of living crisis. Ipsos' 2025 Global Consumer Awareness Survey, which was published in collaboration with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), covers 50 countries and surveyed more than 40,000 respondents. It found that war and the economy now dominate public worries at 52%, while climate change trails at just 31%.

Climate scientists say this drop in public concern over global warming is disturbing. They claim 2024 was the "hottest year on record" (which is a lie), and that the populace should be more worried, not less.

Eruption at Indonesia's Mount Semeru sends ash over 6,500 feet into the sky, threatening air traffic

mmmmm
Indonesia's Mount Semeru volcano erupted Wednesday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. local time, sending ash more than 6,500 feet into the air, according to data from the country's Center for Volcanology.

The eruption was ongoing as of Wednesday evening.

The Center warned people to stay at least 5 miles away from the volcano due to potential hot ash clouds or lava flows. Ejected pyroclastic rocks are possible 1.5 miles away from Mount Semeru's peak, according to the warning.

There's no word on any injuries resulting from the eruption.

Australia's Bureau of Meteorology's Volcanic Ash Advisory Center, which is responsible for the airspace around Southeast Asia, issued a Volcanic Ash Advisory for air traffic stating that the eruption is posing an immediate threat to aviation.

Mount Semeru is the highest volcano on the island of Java and is one of the region's most active volcanoes, according to the Smithsonian Insititution's Global Volcanism Project.

Authorities in Iran have sprayed clouds with chemicals to induce rain, in an attempt to combat the country's worst drought in decades.

Known as cloud-seeding, the process was conducted over the Urmia lake basin on Saturday, Iran's official news agency Irna reported.

Urmia is Iran's largest lake, but has largely dried out leaving a vast salt bed. Further operations will be carried out in east and west Azerbaijan, the agency said.

Rainfall is at record lows and reservoirs are nearly empty. Last week President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that if there is not enough rainfall soon, Tehran's water supply could be rationed and people may be evacuated from the capital.
