A powerful atmospheric river has delivered bouts of serious rain, soaking the Pacific Northwest, triggering major river flooding.

Drone footage captured major river flooding near Fall City, Washington stemming from the Snoqualmie River, located just east of Seattle, showcasing residences and farms inundated by major river flooding.

Fueled by the atmospheric river, the Snoqualmie River crested the highest it's been at Snoqualmie Falls in 10 years, with a flow rate of 45,000 cubic feet per second, at 17.8 feet.

The powerful atmospheric river will continue to slam the region through the middle of the week, as rounds of Pacific moisture will continue to soak the region, resulting in an elevated risk of flooding.

Through Thursday, localized amounts of 3-5 inches are possible as downpours continue to soak the region. Continuous heavy rain has already led to a sharp rise in water levels, with several rivers, including the Cowlitz River near Randle, Washington, and the aforementioned Snoqualmie River at Carnation, Washington, at major flood stage as of late Tuesday.

Macaque monkeys became more aggressive
A pensioner has been bitten to death by a wild monkey after it entered his home and launched a vicious attack.

Chaiphum Sae-eung, 63, was found dead in his house in Yala province, southern Thailand, with dozens of bite marks and scratches, according to reports.

The animal had been terrorising local residents in the run-up to the killing and had already bitten Mr Sae-eung on the shoulder ten days before its final attack.

Villagers said the animal had been aggressively roaming the area while trailing a female monkey. Reports suggest one family had already been forced to flee their home because of its behaviour.

Mr Sae-eung's body was found by his nephew Pipat Sae-eung, who discovered him slumped against a wall surrounded by a pool of blood and still holding the metal rod he had used to try to fend off the attack.

The animal is thought to have repeatedly scratched him before biting off a chunk of his leg. The macaque is reported to have sat in the rafters of the home while police investigated.

A leopard entered the densely populated Shiv Nagar area of Pardi in Maharashtra's Nagpur district on Wednesday morning and injured seven residents, one of whom is in critical condition and has been admitted to the intensive care unit of a local hospital.

The animal was later captured by officials from the Transit Treatment Centre (TTC), located in the Seminary Hills area, after a challenging operation.

According to a senior forest department official, the TTC team received a distress call around 6.15 am. It is suspected that the leopard entered the locality during the night and attempted to escape after sunrise. In its effort to find an exit, it attacked several people. Eventually, the leopard took shelter in a narrow space near a house where a cooler was kept.

Due to poor visibility and the congested surroundings, tranquillising the animal proved difficult, and two darts had to be fired by the team before the leopard could be sedated and captured. The leopard has been kept at the TTC for further treatment and observation.
