A total of 13 people were killed and 21 others injured in a single day in Yemen from lightning strikes, local media reported Sunday.
The Houthi-run Saba news agency reported that seven people died and eight others were injured as a result of lightning strikes in various parts of Hajjah province.
The September Net website reported that six Yemeni women lost their lives and 13 others were injured when lightning struck during a funeral service in Amran province.
On Aug. 12, the UN announced that 77 people were killed due to heavy rains and floods in Yemen.

One runner died and another was seriously injured by lightning early on Sunday morning during an endurance race on Mt. Falakro in northern Greece's region of Drama.
The race was organized by the mountain climbing association of Nevrokopi. It began at 7 pm on Saturday at Pyrgi in Prosotsani which lies at the feet of Mt. Falakro.
The Six Peaks night race involved fifty-five runners from Greece who had to cover 36.7 km through the six highest peaks of the mountain within twelve hours and end at the Ski Center refuge. The weather was favorable when they started out but it changed around 4 pm with torrential rain and lightning.
Dozens of people have been killed and many are feared dead in flash floods and landslides triggered by intense monsoon rains in northern and eastern India over the past three days. News agency Reuters reported that at least 50 people have died in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Odisha over the last three days.
The rains lashed hundreds of villages, swept away mud houses, flooded roads and destroyed bridges in some parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The Indian Meteorological Department predicted that heavy to very heavy rain would continue to fall in the region for the next two days.

As strong thunderstorms rolled through the Midwest on Friday, huge hailstones pounded Des Moines, Iowa, smashing windows and turning yards into ice fields.

A tornado ripped through Boomtown festival sending tents, camping chairs and gazebos 60 feet into the air as the heatwave finally broke and thunderstorms lashed the UK.
Festival-goers described seeing a "scar" of destruction left by the tornado on Sunday and said objects were thrown so high into the air that they flew out of the campsite and got stuck in nearby trees.
It came as Britain endured thunderstorms with the Met Office issuing yellow warnings for both England and Wales.
